Exactly. I had to specifically watch the compilation of them on YT to spot any notable differences in the gunbarrels. Already forgot what most of these differences were (not counting the obvious ones, of course).
You could make this statement for a lot of rankings and lists. Personally, the gunbarrel is a unique trademark, something that gets my excitement up as a fan for what's to follow, and with variations as far as music and other little touches it's well worth my interest.
If we're throwing out personal tastes, I can't understand the popularity of threads like Last Bond Track Or Theme You Listened To or Last Bond Movie You Watched, which has nearly 10,000 comments. I'm not sure why anyone would care what someone else is watching or listening to or anyone what I am.
I feel pretty much the same, though my favorite gunbarrel music might be GOLDFINGER. They're similar in style and have that extra punch that gets the adrenaline going. I've always noticed the guitar melody in GOLDFINGER is played slightly different as to skip one note.
LTK's is alright but I didn't like it at the time. I'll take it over TND, TWINE and SP any day. TWINE's I find to be a real snoozer.
TWINE music was just super bland
This might be controversial. My favorite gunbarrel music is from Mr. Awesome version of the theme.
Is that the cousin of Mr. Incredible?
Haha, well done!
Never. James Bond is supposed to be stylish. Might as well put him in a fluorescent green Murciélago and give him eye piercings and a tattoo on his arse.
The closest we'll ever get and what I would hear was You Know My Name which was perfect.
I just hope Bond does go down the route of what Mission: Impossible 2 and the first xXx film had for "music".
That said, of all eras that would most likely incorporate a rap title track I could see it in the Craig era more so than others.
I think AWTD is about as close to hip-hop we'd get in a Bond film.
I think it boils down to appropriateness for the individual film in terms of style and tone. Something like McCartney's LALD was absolutely perfect for George Martin's score, introducing Roger, and giving the film a different tone to the others. Yet, for me it remains just as Bond sounding as GF or YOLT. I can't really say that about DAD or AWTD.
Now we know what (else) the C stands for. ;)
I do love the disappointment in some of the older villains (Drax, Dr.No) when Bond isn't as smart as they'd hoped - they truly wanted him to be their intellectual equal.
I do as well. However the title sequence itself its a little bizzare. But it doesn't come close to Maurice Binders camera fettish sequence in LTK. That one is abysmal.
Yep, I'm ok with AWTD as well
It is miles better than that Madonna drivel anyways!
Well on a similarly controversial note, I love the 80’s title sequences. I also quite like the one for TMWTGG, another sequence with few fans.
The 80s had the worst title sequences in my opinion. From Sheena Easton to the blacklight women in AVTAK to the overuse of cameras in LTK. It was all so bizzare
Count me as a TMWTGG sequence fan. I like the rippling titles and the golden gun appearing throughout it. I also dig the song. It isn't LALD, but it's got a nice energy and vibe, I prefer it - controversial opinion coming - to Adele's SF and many other more notable theme tunes.
I’ve always thought it sounded like it was recorded in a basement and edited in Garage Band.
