Same here. I think the look and cast saves the movie, at least to a degree.
I agree.
He's quite mad you know...
Hmmm you really are quite insane.
OMG, you just broke the Internet(s).
But seriously, the best Bond track that is not the James Bond theme is Escape from Piz Gloria:
That was hilarious!
Escape from Piz Gloria is one of Barry's best! Can't get enough of that track.
Oh nooo!! =))
That is a crime against humanity.
What's next? Make It Last All Night over Bond strapped to the laser table in Goldfinger? Die Another Day over Tracey's death? The Experience of Love over the Casino Royale parkour sequence?
In terms of Cold War thrillers, I can respect that. Two strong performances from two of my favorite Spielberg supporting character actors: Robert Shaw and John Rhys Davies.
There are opinions and there are opinions. Opinions are subjective. However I hate to say it, but this is the wrong opinion
It's not even a debate for me. TLD is good but FRWL is far superior. Just with the casting and the villains it blows TLD out of the water.
However, I do enjoy this track very much, think it fits the scene very well, and have never quite understood the dislike for it. The scratchy, playful, but also rather annoying nature of it suits Ms. Onatop's character to a tee. She uses sex as a weapon, and so it's apropos that the tune is somewhat reminiscent of a cheap pornographic film.
I always look forward to the part where Serra weaves in the Bond theme. Nicely done.
The script can be illogical. And Connery looks a bit disengaged, especially compared to his wonderful performance in Thunderball. Still, there is Ken Adam’s volcano, which is the greatest villain’s lair in the franchise. Speaking of “greatest villains”, Donald Pleasence turns Blofeld into one of the great villains in cinema history. And I suppose the gyrocopter provided by Q is the best 007 vehicle, ahead of the jet pack and Aston Martin DB5. Lastly, Connery gets to wear that Navy uniform. “Commander Bond” indeed.
I don't agree at all that YOLT is the best in the series in that particular decade. But, I do understand where you're coming from in spite of all my issues with the film itself.
