I felt I should put this here as RM took Marlon Brando’s Oscar home originally.

This photo was taken from Victorian Era (1800s), but oh man, he looked like a young Roger Moore, maybe his grandfather or his father?

    He really looked like him.

Or Roger Moore used to be a Timelord and was really alive in the Victorian Era (1800's)? That's why despite of being older than Connery, he still looked younger than him? :-?

Moore may have been a conservative, and a cad toward his wives on a Trumpian level, but there was always just something so likeable about him.

Even when his Bond was flirting with or seducing much-younger women in AVTAK with increasingly bad one-liners ("I take it you spend a lot of time in the saddle"), his on-screen charm was undeniable.

Just watched FYEO... really is an awesome film IMO. So fun. For my money, the only part it drags is the underwater fight.
  • Recently watched Roger's 1970 psychological thriller movie The Man Who Haunted Himself.

He said a few years before his death that this movie was the one he got the most satisfaction from because in his own words it was the rare occasion he actually had to be an actor. His character in this movie is extremely vulnerable and emotionally confused to the point of torture which is not something we associate with James Bond, Simon Templar and Lord Brett Sinclair. I absolutely loved the movie and his performance. He even makes a fun reference to James Bond in it.

I love the ending of the film. I find it recontextualizes all that came before in a very interesting way.

    I'll never understand the internet.
To me, it looks like you're sending birthday wishes to a dead person that probably wouldn't see your message here even if he was still alive.
And even though you know he's dead, you're congratulating him on being alive for longer than he was.
I'm taking this all too literal, aren't I?

I think you might be. Also, I think it's less a congratulations, and more of a "hope you're well wherever you are". It's (have a) Happy Birthday, remember.

But if he was in good health, he wouldn't be. . . .

I don't think I'll do any good here on this one.

It's not much of a difference from people wishing cartoon characters Happy Birthday or any of us offering a "RIP" on the forums to someone who's died. They're well-meaning statements but I do get where you're coming from.

I never said good health. Anyways yes, whatever, it's a pointless discussion. No one has to wish anyone anything.

No, you said "hope you're well". I got it mixed up with 'good health'. Sorry.

That's ok, I can certainly understand the inference. Anyways it is rather pointless to say happy birthday to a famous dead person on an internet forum, but a lot of our birthday and death rituals are pointless if you think about it.

    And lost charm.

Best sentiments and remembrance to Roger Moore on this day.

The ones that always get me are people saying "if my Grandad had lived, he'd be 146 old today, happy birthday grandad!".
Which to me, makes as much sense as saying "if I'd have been an astronaut instead of a plumber, I'd probably have been to the Moon by now. Hooray for me going to the Moon!"

I shouldn't take these things so literal. I do know it's really just people saying "I loved my Grandad" or "I really liked Roger Moore". I do realise that.

I'm laughing while watching A View To A Kill, because I've used to see Moore's languid, upturned eyes that made him always looking serious, and it makes sense for him to raise his eyebrows because his eyes are quite upturned.

To be honest, I liked his eyes more than any other Bond actors, he had the best eyes (Sexy, looking serious and mysterious)!

But I'm sad to see it changed in AVTAK.

Here in this film, his eyes turned wide, and big, that everytime he raises his eyebrows it's like he's high, you know, his eyes looked a lot more bigger and protruding!

And then suddenly, I knew that he had a facelift, a surgery, I'm disappointed, because that made it a lot more worst, it made him a bit more aged than ever before.

Watched him in The Naked Face, and it's almost released the same year as AVTAK, and he's looking fine there, almost still recognizable with that signature Roger Moore look.

But in AVTAK, he's almost looked like a different person, I couldn't recognize him, I couldn't believe that this is still the Roger Moore that I've seen in the earlier films.

I'm laughing like "look what Plastic Surgery could do to your face" :))

I wished he'd maintained his natural face, I don't see anything wrong with his face, totally, to be honest, I liked his face more in The Naked Face.

In AVTAK, he looked like his wearing a mask, and yes that big wide and protruding eyes 👀!

It's so bulgy, I'm really laughing everytime I'm seeing it.

I though find the film a bit boring to be honest, gonna watch this video, I guess.

I've been watching The Saint recently and it's funny how many turns of phrase that he uses seem to carry over into the Bond films. Not only does he go around wanting 'information' as his 007 does, but in the one I just watched he describes some of the baddies as 'baboons'. I guess he was adjusting his lines quite a bit when he played Bond.
