I have no movie in my line of sight right now except for 'Gone Girl.' I've seen a ton of trailers and TV spots for 'The Equalizer,' but it doesn't grab my attention enough to warrant spending a night out at the movies for it.

George Lazenby had the idea for the Equalizer series, originally. He was rejected, but then they went on without him. Cubby made him an outcast due to his ego.

Well it's a theater trip or waiting for it to hit 4K for me, and I'll probably save it for the latter option - so eventually! It does look great.

Edward Woodward is always worth it.

The film only borrows the basic concept of the show. Other than the protagonist character name and some minor signature tropes, they're very little alike.

Watched it Wednesday. Denzel feels a bit like he whas in Man On Fire. He make the difrence difrence. Besides that movie it remember me a lot to Columbiana and Hitman.

Exept the name and living in darker street and his hate for coverment traters.
Possible he eating in snackbar with his own food and not sleep much can be part of it. But it be whyle i watched series.

From promotion of second movie, get idea there will at the car element and get more background.

The movie whas lighter then i expect, but also have more rude kills.

    Just watched the sequel.
I enjoyed it. I think it's fair to say that, for much of its running time, it was more of a drama than an action film or even a thriller. I really liked that, with the subplots about Miles and Sam. It's not that the earlier film didn't show of some these qualities but I felt they were more pronounced this time around.

The one part where the film definitely fell short for me was the climax. Potentially it could've been great --four men stalking another one in the midst of a hurricane--, but I found it a bit dull, lacking in interest. It was no match for the imaginative fight at the home depot store in the previous film. It brought the main storyline to a bit of a disappointing end, lacking punch and intensity.

That said, I thought the whole beginning and middle of that main story involving Susan was very well handled. Her early scenes were satisfying and her death had dramatic impact; it wasn't just a catalyst for action scenes.

I'm not an expert on the TV show, but this film felt a bit closer to it than the first one. Though that aside, I still prefer the original film.

Oh, and I forgot: I loved that shot with the camera upside down and the shadow on the sidewalk.

Another go-around of the sequel last night.

An admirably restrained effort but one that is overwritten and has enough subplotting to do two films. Denzel anchors the whole thing together really well, and the acting is pretty good across the board. However, instead of feeling episode in nature, the film feels like a whole season. The main plot only becomes a central focus after the halfway point, which really takes away from the effectiveness of the villains.

Most films have a beginning, middle and end. THE EQUALIZER 2 has a really long beginning and then ends.

Still, Denzel is worth the time and I'd be happy to see a third film. Just keep it simple next time, Fuqua.

Haven't seen or heard about the series until the first movie came out.

All I know is that they "blackwashed" the main character.

Both movies are really slow but still enjoyable. I like the idea of the character and the overall story.

I really like the character and I really miss seeing these type of characters.

    Denzel is a great actor.

    First movie positevely surprised me.

Second one was more of the same in vibe/style wise, but I think it lacked a good action scene like the first one.

I liked the first one more.

If they make a third one... why not. I liked both of them, but I don't think these movies will appear to a wider audience.

I liked the part of the 2nd movie where he tries to help the community and his neighbours.

Really likeable character and dynamic of the character. I guess I should watch the series maybe :D

    btw....the movies/character/whatever..soooorta...remind me of..

    Vengeance Unlimted.

Did anyone hear of this series? I am not sure if I should make a thread for it since it's a one season only series with Michael Madsen that's not really popular..not even sure if it's out on DVD...

It was a spy-ish/detective-ish series. I really enjoyed it. Basically Michael Madsen is a detective that asks for no money. He'll help your case but only if you owe him a favour in the future.

Really good character and really good series.

I too liked the first one more.

They certainly won't appeal to a wider audience @dragonsky but thankfully they don't really need to. The great thing about character-driven action films like this is that they are mostly made on a budget of $70-80million, which means they only need to hit $200million worldwide or so to remain viable. Thanks to the following that Denzel has as an actor, that's never too much of an issue.

I liked the villains in the second one but felt they needed a bit more to do. They kind of forced it a bit too much, and McCall dispatched goons a bit too easily.

I quite enjoyed the sequel but I also prefer the first one - felt more contained and straight-forward. Like others have echoed, the sequel had a lot of ideas they tried to jam into one movie which didn't work that well for me. Having said that, I'd love to see more and I hope they deem the box office returns for the sequel to be enough to warrant a trilogy conclusion.

We don't want next James Bond to be a woman. Does anyone have any problem of the Reboot TV series lead by a woman Roberta McCall????

Latifah To Lead “The Equalizer” TV Series

Queen Latifah is set to star in a reboot of “The Equalizer” TV series in the works from Universal Television and CBS Television.

The project has received a pilot production commitment from CBS and is described as a reimagining of the classic series. Latifah portrays an enigmatic figure who uses her extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn.

The original series starred Edward Woodward and ran for four seasons on CBS between 1985 and 1989. More recently it was adapted into two feature films starring Denzel Washington.

“Castle” team Andrew Marlowe and Terri Miller will serve as writers, executive producers, and showrunners on the new series. Queen Latifah will also serve as an executive producer in addition to starring while John Davis, John Fox, Debra Martin Chase and Shakim Compere will also executive produce.

Better making 3th movie, but if Universal take rights back from Sony there better can do re-release of first season and release the other seasons then making a new series. Or making a deal with Fox, MGM & EON and finaly release Remmington Steel on dvd in Europe like The Netherlands (With commentary, making of material and more) or making Remmington Steel movie with Brosnan.
