George as imposter Jor El 😉

I always thought Daniel Craig could play Lex Luthor or Mr. Freeze, well.

DC of CR and QoS could have been a good Azrael.

Although he did play Asriel :)

What film/TV show is that from? There are quite a few Daniel Craig TV and Movie roles I am not familiar with.

Sean Connery in The League of Extraordinary Gentleman could be included as it has DC ties, as well as the comics having many thinly veiled James Bond references.

It is kind of amazing that Connery's final film had him working for M of the British Secret Service.

Of course I forgot about the Golden Compass, I watched bits of it at work once, I vaguely remember Nicole Kidman and some polar bears?

I like films set in that time period I should probably give it a go, was it not supposed to be a series of films?

Yes that was the plan, but it wasn't a big enough hit. Shame because I liked the casting.

It recently got adapted as a series on the BBC as 'His Dark Materials', with James McAvoy in the Asriel role.

The biggest problem with the Flash movie is that it never occurred to Barry that he might try to,you know…SOLVE his mothers murder?

The whole plot revolves around him trying to prove his fathers innocence yet the subject of WHO actually killed his mother never comes up.If he can time travel, why does he not wait outside the night of his mums mother and see who enters the house?

In comic lore,it’s Reverse Flash who does it but they wanted to make a Superman villain the antagonist in a Flash movie for nostalgia bait reasons.

WB’s modern day solution for a villain in a Batman or Superman movie or video game: use a villain that’s been used in a previous movie or video game.

I think it’s kind of refreshing that Barry is way more concerned with saving his mother, and that WHO killed her is just not that important to him. It would be easy for a writer to concoct a story where Barry is fixated on the identity of the murderer, but that’s already been done in other films like THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN turning that into a plot point.

Surely the best way to save his mother would be to actually STOP the person who actually commits the crime? If he can time travel,he could go back to just before she was murdered and attempt to stop it from happening

Except that would mean directly interacting with people from the past, which he should avoid (which of course blows up in his face). And even if he does identify the murderer, how can he point to him without revealing to the court that he traveled through time to find out? That’s why he goes for the idea of manipulating the situation by snagging a can of tomato sauce. It’s a seemingly subtle manipulation of time without being brazen, but then we learn that even THAT can have unpredictable consequences.

Good points. In Flashpoint Paradox Flash does try to stop the murderer, but the real focus of the scene is to show him stopping himself from saving his mother. It's poignant, but the grocery store scene in The Flash is even more so and the actors play it very well. I'd hate to lose that scene, especially when so much of the movie is a mixed bag.

That article (and especially the tweets therein) read like the drunken ramblings of someone who is being deliberately provocative. I believe Gunn has said some unfortunate things in a very distant past, but how sure are we that this concerns the real James Gunn? I have no doubts that some people do not think the world of Batman '89, and I know for a fact that some take serious offense in what Nolan brought us. Unpopular opinions are perfectly legitimate opinions too. But this looks more like a clickbait attempt at discrediting Gunn than anything else.

I have no idea if the comments are legitimate, even if they are he is entitled to his own opinion. There has been many films in the past I had no time for and years later saw them in a different light.

The beauty of Batman is there can be many variations on a theme and I find value in all of them, I even enjoy Batman and Robin for its ridiculousness.

I'm pretty sure every version of Batman in media has had its moments of silliness.

    This might interest y'all...

    Kryptonita-936773269-large.jpg

    Kryptonita (2015)
Based on the 2011 novel by Leo Oyola, Kryptonita tells the story of an unconventional roguish Justice League (a classic Robin Hood metaphor), trying to save Nafta Súper (Superman)'s life from the police and no other than Doomsday himself. While kept hostage by Juan Raro (J'onn J'onzz), Cuñataí Güirá (Hawkgirl), El Faisán (Green Lantern), El Ráfaga (The Flash), a transvestite named Lady Di (Wonder Woman) and El Federico (Batman), a night shift doctor fights to keep Nafta Súper alive after removing a chunk of kryptonite from his side.

It's basically an unofficial Elseworlds where Kal-El landed in Argentina instead of the United States.

I wasn’t a fan of the first film. Felt like watching a child on a rush from drinking a six pack of Mountain Dew.
  • Haven’t seen the first since it came out in theaters. It was just middling. I have little desire to see it again, and even less desire for this new one.
