    Loving a pet is fine. Nothing wrong with that. As long as people understand that pet life and human life are not on the same level. That’s why I brought up the scenario of choosing between saving a human life or an animal. I would certainly hope people would choose human life in such a scenario. Otherwise we’re in serious trouble. There is a difference between the two.

    I would choose good humans over good animals. But bad humans? I’d certainly argue the worst pets don’t even come close in how much damage the two can do. So the answer depends.

    But that's not the point, nor was it when @Dragonpol made his post @ringfire211 ... I don't think anyone on this site needs to be reminded of the difference between human and animal life... But if one is lucky to have a pet, a pet that gives them unconditional love and comfort every single day, then yes, when they pass it can be devastating. You've lost a member of the family.

    I mean, look no further when police dogs are put to rest. Look at the outpouring of grief. Animals are a beautiful part of our life, and when one is taken into a home, they become a loved member.

    Love Fairytale of New York, but I think it is the only Pogues song I ever heard. I have it on a Kirsty McColl "Best of" compilation. Kirsty sadly passed aways 23 years before Shane (on Dec. 18, to be exact) when getting run over by a motor yacht off Cozumel (Mexico) while swimming with her son in the Caribbean Sea.

    RIP. Barry Lyndon is an all-time favorite for me, and I really can’t imagine anyone else doing the role. Haven’t seen him in much else except Paper Moon. But he is forever movie history now!

    'The Driver' is one of my favourite films, he was also great in 'Paper Moon' with his daughter Tatum! And the hilarious 'What's Up Doc?' is another great one!

    I also remember having seen him over forty years ago in Andrew Bergman's 1981 film So Fine, a comedy about a college professor who happens to invent jeans that have see-through plastic "windows" over the buttocks. Don't really remember more details, an n,ever ran across it again. I remember it as funny but nowhere near, say, What's Up, Doc?. (So Fine still has one thing that sets it apart, which is a Morricone score.)

    Richard Kiel is in So Fine with O'Neal. He does blackface in it, unfortunately, but otherwise it seems like harmless fun.

    I just re-watched it, there's a slew of celebrities and world figures commenting on and complimenting Bond for the 21st Anniversary and to share slivers of Octopussy.

    You should check out 'Paper Moon', its a lovely film, and you have to see 'The Driver', cracking thriller, and 'What's Up Doc?' is hilarious, a throwback to the screwball comedies, and has a brilliant chase finale!
    Am not a huge fan of 'Barry Lyndon' its well made as you would expect from Kubrick, but O' Neals dodgy Oirish accent grates a bit!
