One thing I don't want is for anyone to call him Henry. No bloody Henry, no bloody Jonesy: he's Indiana Jones / Indy / Dr Jones and that's it :)

Exactly! Only his Dad can call him otherwise.

    Couldn’t agree with this more.

I like your suggestion of The Indiana Jones, @ToTheRight.

    Raiders of the Lost Ark
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
    The Indiana Jones

I feel like it brings just the right amount of inanity to the table.

I was slightly joking, but at the same time adding the word "THE" seems to be a trend: THE Suicide Squad, THE Batman.

Another trend is to re use a title then add the character's name as a subtitle:
    BEVERLY HILLS COP:AXEL FOLEY , TOP GUN:MAVERICK.

    How about:

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK : INDIANA JONES

More likely to be INDIANA JONES: HENRY JNR

    How about INDIANA JONES: INDY.

"We called it that because it's a more personal story. In this one, Indy finally becomes the Indy we know and love."

The title will be “ Indiana Jones And The….”, with the “The” being a device, the McGuffin , that has something to do with time.

The thing is, the films have never been named after the macguffin primarily. Lots of the offshoot media have, like '..and the Spear of Destiny', '...and the Staff of Kings' etc. but the films have been named after: a bunch of people; a location he explores (two of those), and the adventure itself in one of them.
So the macguffin might get a mention, but I hope it won't be the entire title in itself as that feels slightly undynamic to me, just describing an object.

Indiana Jones: Belongs in a Museum
  • After Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, I feel like the title needs to return to something a bit more succinct, with simpler words, and a more epic feel. It's a bit of an irony, that the more specific you make them the less iconic they feel.

Given the rumors about the McGuffin, I'd indeed expect it to be something along the lines of Indiana Jones and the ________ of Time.

    But we've been surprised before.

    Rise of the Indiana Jones?

Maybe if JJ Abrams was in charge. Thankfully, he’s not.

In a way it’s kind of amazing we have a Star Wars film that’s that bad.

Lol true, at least it was Ian McDiarmid we got back. And he was pretty cool in it.

We can say anything we want about The Rise of Skywalker, but every single one of us got chills when we heard Ian McDiarmid's laugh at the end of the first trailer. So that's something.

Yep that’s true. Same with Billy Dee Williams. I wish they would have done more with Luke, honestly. Keeping with this thread idea, Ian McDiarmid is a Indy alumni, from Young Indy.

I still don't see the issue with it, it just seems like a Star Wars film to me. It's not for this thread I guess.

I suppose if you put yourself far enough above the Star Wars films, they might all look the same. ;)

Well it's not a great or hugely memorable one, but it zipped along and had action scenes and space battles and things: it functioned well enough at what it was trying to do even if it wasn't inspired. It was less boring to me than the one before it.

To me Indy was always the best thing George Lucas ever did, and although Skull is the worst of them, I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as the SW films have sunk to over the years.

I agree. I also like Cate Blanchett and Irina Spalko. Like Spielberg, probably my favorite villain of the series. EON please hire her a villainess role in the future!

Nice, yeah I pretty much agree. Given time, I dislike TROS more and more, but I can easily see your perspective on it. It's funny, I have a group chat with two friends and one has very similar opinions to yours here (regarding Star Wars and Indy/Crystal Skull etc), and one who adamantly hates basically all of the above (TLJ, TROS, Crystal Skull).

Out of curiosity, where do you stand on:
    Rogue One?
    Prometheus?

Rogue One I found a letdown when I saw it: I must admit I probably have a quite tight definition of what Star Wars is, and that's a fun space adventure. In that it shares quite a lot in common with Indy: to me its role is to be pure entertainment. Rogue One felt a bit fannish to me, the sort of thing you get when folks get too close and start to take it all too seriously. It's a good Blakes 7 movie. But hey, if I watched it again I'd probably enjoy it. Something like Mandalorian hits that SW tone better for my money.
Was Prometheus the first of the Ridley reboots? I thought it was fine, it didn't do too much for me but seemed okay.

It was interesting to see Harrison Ford getting choked up talking about the new Indy film. I didn't see him getting emotional promoting the new Star Wars movies ;)

My biggest issue with TROS (well, the ST as a whole, but TROS finalises it) is that after having killed each of the original trio and saying they pretty much failed at all their goals, they end on exactly the same status quo as ROTJ, just 30 years later and with new characters I care less about.

I think we'll be waiting for just before the release of either Black Panther 2 or Avatar 2 so it can run with one of them.

Interesting theory. Could the storyline be parallel instead of involving time travel? I wouldn’t rule it out.
