i agree with your statements towards Crystal Skull... i would go on a rant for hours about how it's no less stupid than Temple Of Doom.. but i'll let the end of this one video speak on my behalf - because i share the same feelings as this guy does... (just skip up the the 13:00 mark)

True. But whereas TOD is a classic. TKOTCS is bland, average and forgettable.

I wonder why Rick McCallum didn't work on Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. He did help get Young Indiana Jones off the ground.

Another thing I like about Raiders is that Indiana Jones isn't in the fedora/jacket attire through the entire film. That also has something to do with the film not being so much of a rollercoaster ride. The story is allowed to breathe a little more, and the situations are more varied. Cairo streets, map room, Well of the Souls, truck chase, boat, submarine pens... I also like that. Later films feel more like a relentless chase.

Now, that's not bad (in fact, my favorite film is Crusade). But variety would be good. Going back to the style of Raiders would feel fresh.

We don’t need a fifth Indiana Jones movie (with a nearly 80 year old Indy). We need a DOC SAVAGE movie, properly done.

I wonder what ever happened to Doc Savage starring the Rock

I don't mind Ron Ely's film which I own, its daft though of its time, I have a few of the comics on Kindle.

This is one film that doesn't need to be made. Ford is way too old. I guess his stuntmen team will be gainfully employed. Other than that reason, can't see any point to this. It's also doubtful a new rebooted, recast actor in the lead, Indiana Jones film will happen. Solo bombed hard - the new Han Solo actor didn't wow enough people - so Disney may be reluctant to continue the adventures of Indiana Jones! I am confident James Bond will outlive the Indiana Jones franchise. :)

Doc Savage would be a great post Wolverine role/franchise for Hugh Jackman

I'd like an Indy 5. I believe the character deserves a better send off than KOTCS.

I agree, however he got to rid off into the sunset in TLC, with Marcus, Sallah and Henry.
That was as good a send off as I can imagine.

There's another potentially great comic book character - perhaps the ultimate anti-superhero character: Marshal Law. A superhero who's job is to track down and kill/apprehend rogue superheroes. Arguably the most subversive take on the superhero comic genre.
Marshal Law is an English-language superhero comic book series created by Pat Mills and Kevin O'Neill.

Marshal Law was first published by Epic Comics in 1987. The series is a satire on the superhero genre as well as a deconstruction of the superheroes of the Golden Age and Silver Age.

Marshal Law was inspired by the Public Spirit to join the military to fight communist insurgents in "The Zone", an unstable area of South America. The horrors of the war, combined with the atrocities that the deployed superheroes committed made Marshal Law realize that superheroes were as corruptible as anyone else, and upon coming home took a job with the San Futuro police to hunt heroes who stray from the path of justice.

The series is characterized by its extreme graphic violence and nudity, and Mills' skewering of superhero conventions and US government policy and society.

Marshal Law's costume looks utterly ridiculous - kind of cross between a pro wrestler and someone into sadomasochism (!) but with a decent costume redesign the character could have movie potential. Marshal Law could be the ideal R rated superhero franchise to follow on from Deadpool. Dwayne Johnson was considered for the role of Marshal Law back in 2009 but the film, under option at Warner Bros, never went into production.

I love Doc Savage. Read many of the books and comics, pulp but great fun, and I even love the '70's movie with Ron Ely, even though it camps it up. I'd love to see Doc Savage back on the screen and done faithfully. Shane Black has a script (faithful and period set) and has had serious talks with The Rock about playing Doc.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there an Uncharted movie being made? Even so, I struggle to see how they will make Indiana Jones work in the 21st century without it emulating Uncharted or Tomb Raider.

Who knows anymore. It got a new director (Dan Trachtenberg) back in January, but I haven't heard of any progress since. I'm not optimistic or interested if they're still taking the prequel avenue.

So Tom Holland is Nathan Drake and some blonde kid is macGyver. =))
    what happened to real men?

Hey I like Lucas till as MacGyver and feel he brings the same amount of skill and believability Richard Dean Anderson brought to the original

For sure Benny, it was the perfect sendoff for a good 20 years nearly, until they made a 4th one.

That said, it has now been 11 years since release. It's probably too late at this point. :-SS

Nothing against Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, but THIS is the actor they should cast as Doc Savage... Tom Hopper (Black Sails, Game of Thrones), who is 6'5":

I know about Shane Black's attempt to get a Doc film off the ground, and am heartened that his script is purportedly set in the 1930s. Also, Black would likely excel at the back-and-forth comic banter between Doc's five assistants... Unfortunately, Black's latest film, THE PREDATOR (2018) flopped pretty hard -- because it was just not very good.

Why don't they just make more Indiana Jones books, graphic novels and video games? Those are great, that way we get more Indy and his legacy is safe.

Solo bombed because it was a very strange film, equally entertaining and forgettable. From what I read in publications, Alden Ehrenreich got lots of praise for his portrayal. I had my doubts before watching the movie, but I don´t think he botched anything.

Big franchise-like films don´t seem to gel well with Black.
IMO in his smaller and self-created films, i.e. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The nice Guys, he nails absolutely everything, and he seemlessly blends adult Humor that is actually funny with kid actors that are actually not annoying, and adds on top of that emotional Depth.
But Iron Man 3 wasn´t the best IM film, and The Predator somehow lost ist way big time.
I get the Impression huge Projects don´t inspire Black that much. Or perhaps he´s just not the type to stand up against a lot of Studio lawyers trying to impose various directions on a Project.

Recast with Bradley Cooper and see what happens. He's the obvious choice.

I always thought Chris Pratt was the more obvious.
For continuity purposes, looking back, casting Shia Laboef was a mistake and even more making him the son. I understand that he was a hot commodity at the time coming off Transformers, but they could have made it so a Pratt or Cooper could be the son of Indy in an upcoming film. You can't do that now without rebooting the whole thing.

    Just reboot. Who cares?

And set it in the 1930s.

    Job done.

I don't think Pratt would be that popular in the role,Cooper would suit it more to me.

Rebooting, setting it in the 1930's is the best option, trying to fit Ford into this is just going to turn it into a joke, not that the appalling last film didn't do that already.

Cooper I could get on board with, I don't care for proud animal killer Pratt. They would be better getting a relative unknown, another film series usually does well enough going down that route, now what is it called ;)

Can't wait for the movie to be delayed to 2022, the announcement must be coming soon.
I don't have any insiders, I'm just speculating based on what they did so far

Perhaps Disney will ditch it. Hard to imagine an 80 year old action hero bringing in the big box office. Anything is possible, though! :-O
