Same with Star Wars. That first film I saw in 1977 was called Star Wars and it will always remain that, not Episode IV or A New Hope, although I don't mind those as subtitles.
If they had altered it within the main titles that would have been annoying.
Exactly.
Excellent point.
I still remember my excitement when this image first appeared.
It couldn't be worse than Skull but then as Quarrel would say it doesn't do to tempt providence.
At least with a new set of filmmakers, there’s the potential for rejuvenation. But we shall see. I’m more optimistic with someone new rather than any of the old guard, especially if Spielberg isn’t comfortable to have Indy actively kill bad guys.
I would say that I greatly enjoyed Infernal Machine and the Emperor’s Tomb. They felt like real Indy adventures.
Are they filming close to Loch Ness?
Given the limitations on international travel caused by COVID-19, it would make sense that they'd want to do as much filming inside the UK as possible.
This is possible, hmmm
Koepp is not involved anymore. His Indy 5 script was put where it belonged: in the bin.
Indianna Jones and the fourth corner of the earth sounds like the search for the garden of Eden that would be awesome…
Of course this doesn’t fit with the current rumors of the moon etc
Yeah, once Spielberg left so did Koepp.
Yes I think he said that a new director would want to bring own writer and direction to it so he left the project, which seems fair enough.
I wonder if he'll get any credit on the final film? It'll be interesting to see if they base any of it on his story- you'd assume a bit of it would be hanging around because Disney probably had involvement in it too, plus Spielberg is still involved of course.
It'll be a good one to find out about his draft for the inevitable making-ofs a few years down the line!
These films were always Lucas’ baby, which is why I was initially excited to see Spielberg get a final crack at Indy 5 because he’d be on his own and I would hope have a much more creatively active role compared to KOTCS. But given he dropped out, that just showed he may not have had his heart in it as he thought he did, and so I’m glad he left because I wouldn’t have wanted Spielberg coasting. Allow someone who actually WANTS to make it.
In all honesty, I think Spielberg already lost his kinetic touch by TLC. That film doesn’t feel nearly as energetic and hard hitting as his one-two punch with RAIDERS and DOOM. Luckily, CRUSADE at least had an interesting dynamic with Ford and Connery to make up for that.
Yeah I don't really like it when Koepp gets instantly trashed whenever his name is mentioned: he's done some bad films but he's also done some massive hits too so clearly he knows something about the job.
It would certainly be great to see it pop up at some point like many of the previous Indy drafts have (has that happened to Indy more than most?). I thought City of the Gods had lots of good stuff in which I'd have liked to have seen in the movie, but it did have a few parts where I thought Crystal Skull improved on it too.
I'm guessing it'll be a combination of sets built at Pinewood, a city like Liverpool or Glasgow doubling for it, CGI, and maybe some genuine location filming in the actual city (if at all possible).
Seeing him play the role at the age he is now is going to be embarassing.Especially with Speilberg and Lucas gone and Kennedy and Waller Bridge involved.
Uh oh. If you don't like movies that have Kathleen Kennedy involved in the production team then I've got some bad news for you about Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, and Last Crusade.
Since you keep reminding everyone how terrible it's going to be and it doesn't seem to be giving you any pleasure, I genuinely wonder why you keep posting in this thread.
Nice try,but everyone knows that Kennedy was basically a glorified secretary back then whose main job was probably making Speilberg and Lucas coffee.
I can see why Speilberg and lucas backed out of this one.Speilberg directing would basically mean he would be working for his former employee and Lucas, well we all know he feels about being stabbed in the back by Kennedy on the sequel trilogy.
