I tend to think it was a bit boring though as it was, I'd hope any new Indy show actually feels like Indy.
But it's also obvious that there have been bad choices since she's been at the head of Lucasfilm. It's true that there was no overall vision in the execution of the new trilogy, which resulted in an unsatisfying story and that directors were routinely sacked or replaced. There were Josh Trank for an unnamed Star Wars Stories project, Garreth Edwards, who didn't handle the reshoots of Rogue One, Lord and Miller on Solo (very late into production), then Colin Trevorrow on Episode IX (who was also an uninspired choice). Considering that there have been five Star Wars movie in the Disney era, that's not an impressive track record.
Some of it was forced into her by her bosses at Disney. For instance, they wanted a two-year development cycle on the new trilogy, while the two others had three. They assumed that what worked at Marvel (where they have decades of comics with arcs that worked or didn't work to rely on) would work at LucasFilm. They realized too late that it was a mistake.
Yet, I have no issues with The Last Jedi or the choice of Rian Johnson. He was clearly a fan but wasn't bogged down with poorly recreating the original trilogy the way JJ Abrams was, and his sequel is the only thing that stays true in spirit to the original films, while injecting new ideas and new directions, which Abrams was quick to sweep away when he replaced Trevorrow. And even Trevorrow's drafts for Episode IX were ultimately more interesting than the derivative and shallow Rise of Skywalker, which looks created by a committee that was afraid of dividing people the way The Last Jedi did.
And, given that the Indiana Jones franchise was mostly a partnership between Lucas and Spielberg, Kennedy has been able to save the project from collapse and make an inspired choice with Mangold. We'll see how Indy V will turn out, but they've at least taken their time (it was at some point supposed to be released next month...) and they clearly want Ford to leave the part on a high note, just like Broccoli and Wilson are with Craig.
There's plenty of places to go read up or watch up on this subject... she's genuinely terrible as President of Lucasfilm... you can filter out vitriol from those that go over the top, but she's not good. If she were a man she would be facing the same criticism…everyone callling sexism is like the coward’s last refuge being patriotism.
Which female character she introduced do you think is good?

Rey
Rey is a MarySue with a lame ham fisted backstory, a totally inexplicable love story, she is horribly written. She’s played by a likeable actress but that’s it. She’s not a good character.
I don't see a lot of hate for Rey. People pointed out she's a marysue but that's not hate, it's fact. I liked her too, because I like Daisy Ridley, but again that doesn't make her a good character. Any negativity didn't really come out until the last one and it was revealed how poorly conceived it all was. You can watch the movies and enjoy in a passing way, like watching Moonraker... and I still like Force Awakens to some degree, but it's not like people are going to rediscover what a great character Rey was and what it all meant that she was the granddaughter of Palpatine or his clone or whatever and the great journey she went on to discover it all. And her arch was better written than Finn or Poe who had nothing to do. It's just corporate mediocrity and they're not satisfying. Do they have fans, sure, but again it doesn't make them good movies.
But I don't want to go on about it... I care about Indiana Jones here and I so want this movie to be made and without hitches... it's good to see they're still filming... I'm reminding myself of Craig injuring himself early in shooting of NTTD, so hopefully Ford can bounce back and pray not get hurt again...
no but Natalie Portman in that white outfit does make it great cinema
Blimey if you watch them in order Luke becomes a Marysue: the hero of the previous films thinks he's great, dies for him; the villain of the previous trilogy is scared of him, and then he blows up the Death Star. 'Marysue' is such a meaningless term and can be thrown at any new lead character introduced into an ongoing story.
All of the negativity thrown at the last Star Wars film is way overblown because SW fans are such an odd bunch. It's a perfectly entertaining couple of hours and does everything a SW film should. It's not brilliant but I'd still say it's better than a lot of Marvel films which get more praise.
I remember mid-90s when being a Star Wars fan was actually the cool thing to be a fan of. Now if you're an adult SW fan you're most likely to be associated with weird sexists and trolls.
Marysue is not meaningless it's defined. And yes Rey is and no not like the other characters. SW fans are not odd, they've been served mediocrity which creates divisiveness from people who can and can't tell the difference. Marvel has had some duds and some mediocre, but they've also had good and some real highs. So their fans are happy, plus Feige understands the material and is a fan of it. New SW has had no highs in movies and strained to just be okay. But this isn't the thread for this.
Ha! Well that's me convinced by such a well thought-out argument :))
It's actually originally defined as the author placing themselves in a Star Trek story, so Rey certainly isn't that unless we're saying she's supposed to be JJ Abrams.
Nah they're a bit odd and they've given themselves a terrible reputation. There have been some cracking films over the last few years (and TV series of course), some not so good either.

Right shoulder though as we could probably guess: that's no good for crackin' whips.
They got away with Ford not appearing in most of the temple scenes in TOD when he had his injury, so I imagine they'll be able to get away with it here too.
Though I wouldn't be too shocked if that summer release date morphs into a winter one.
Yes it's hard to say. I still don't fully understand how they shot Force Awakens so maybe there's something they can do with him, although you'd think a shoulder injury would limit his movement a lot- I guess with a leg injury you can at least do waist-up stuff.
He's looking good and still in town... I think he'll be back way before doomsday reports. It's nice Mangold is so chatty in twitterverse so we get straight from horse's mouth he's still filming.
Indiana Jones and the Ford Injury
Indiana Jones and the Sling on the Shoulder
Haha, Indiana Jones and the Filming Delay of Doom
But yeah, Ford is fit.
As long as it’s not terrible like in TWINE.
“You knew about my shoulder!”
And Fords pain face is much better than Pierce’s.
And his pain sounds from his mouth are probably better than Roger Moore in AVTAK.
OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
It surprises me that Harrison Ford looks so good for a man pushing 80 than Roger Moore did pushing 60.
Well we don’t know for sure that’s for Indy. There’s a decent chance as it seems to be period but I guess we’ll see.
