I know there's a prologue they took out of the film because the movie was running long and they had already released it as part of the film's marketing, sort of like The Dark Knight. I never watched it because I was waiting to experience it in the film for the first time. That sure worked out, huh? Lol.
But I've heard it somehow makes more sense out of the T-rex and the Gigantosaurus randomly brawling at the end and helps set up some other dinosaurs that got pretty brief screen time.
It sounds like removing the prologue probably wasn't the best move for the film as a whole. Anyway, I'll be interested to see how the new scenes impact the overall experience.
I don't. This movie has to be one of the worst blockbusters I've ever seen, I'd dare say that even The Rise of Skywalker had better a writing and acting than this. And that is coming from someone who despised the Sequel Trilogy. The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones are masterpieces compared to Jurassic World: Dominion, and I've never even liked those two movies.
The idea that the T-Rex and the Gigantosaurus hated each other and fought each other because they had a shared backstory as if these were moustache-twirling villains instead of wild animals is even more stupid than the "somehow Palpatine returned" line, which at least got an explanation in the tie-in novel. This is just plain stupid and so is Trevorrow for even suggesting it. Anyone who's seen the first Jurassic Park movie (or read Chricton's amazing novel) and believes the original was just a "switch your brain off" blockbuster instead of a thought-provoking film with deep themes about environment, chaos theory, determinism, human megalomany and narcissism is stupid.
Goodness gracious!
I suppose Jurassic Park may be a "deep" and "thought-provoking" film if one's thoughts are generally swimming in a very shallow pool.
@NoTimeToLive
I, personally, think Jurassic Park is a masterpiece. However, I don't expect everyone else to think so too, and neither should you. Furthermore, arguments that are phrased as "anyone who does(n't) think ... is stupid" are unwelcome on this forum, especially when they are about our taste in films. I admire your passion, just keep it polite, will you? @ProfJoeButcher is completely entitled to his opinion. And he is not, in any way, "stupid". Debate the man's points, not the man.
I never said those who like the movie are stupid. I said the movie itself is stupid. Nothing wrong with liking it, I like several stupid movies such as American Pie, Idiocracy and Project X, the latter being maybe my favourite movie ever but still a stupid movie.
Therefore, you can't be surprised if a movie like Jurassic World: Dominion receives negative reviews as it is objectively bad.
Well you did suggest a bizarre dichotomy between being stupid and finding profundity in Jurassic Park. As someone who doesn't find anything thought-provoking or deep about characters speaking the themes of a film out loud in monologues, I assume you're including me in there!
Also, I don't know why a movie that knows it is about stupid things is itself stupid. I don't think "Idiocracy" is really a stupid movie, and I'm not sure why a movie that is stupid, knowingly or not, would be "objectively bad". You don't have any real premises behind your conclusions.
Also, you guys are really wasting a long time to defend such a stupid movie like this. It's the only forum where I've seen something like that happen, every single comment I've read about this movie was all but negative because everyone else realised how bad this movie is. At least movies like QoS/SP/NTTD or TFA/TLJ/TROS or even the prequel trilogy have their share of fans despite being (mostly or often) panned by critics and fans, but people on this site are the only one I've ever met who enjoyed this travesty of a movie. What do you even gain by defending it?
I never suggested so either, @NoTimeToLive. You clearly wrote "Anyone who... ... ... is stupid", not "The film is stupid," and I have politely asked you to refrain from such statements. People who have seen the first Jurassic Park and do believe the original was just a "switch your brain off" blockbuster (I'm using your words here), is not stupid, just a person with an opinion about the first JP that is as legit as yours or mine.
I don't know if they're "too different", but they are definitely two different things.
Chaos theory is a pretty deep topic indeed, but it's very debatable how well the events of Jurassic Park (novel or book) actually illustrate the concept. I love both the book and film, but I don't think Crichton or the filmmakers effectively make the case that running such a theme park would be impossible because of the butterfly effect and whatnot. The disastrous events in the story are traceable to forseeable consequences of specific bad decisions. The themes don't tie themselves to the plot as well as they maybe could have.
:))
Likewise not seen it, I refuse to pay £15.99 on Amazon Prime Home Cinema @-) I will wait till the price drops for Rental.
I am at least a couple of weeks away yet still. A sign of the world we live in currently.
Yeah UK prices on all things are ridiculous at the moment.
I think it’s a worldwide problem at the moment. You can about the movie though that they spared no expense for the customers who wanted to see these dinosaurs.
True I can be a reckless spender though I have been more mindful of late with expendable cash. I look forward to the film, though will wait till its cheaper based on the reviews.
There’s a hidden JP joke in my quote as well.
From the legendary Sir Richard Attenborough from the first film.
👍🤓
Its a mixed bag, its way too contrived and literally every human should have died ten times over. Saying that I think its the best film in the Jurassic World Trilogy simply for entertainment value. The film clearly illustrates that Sam Neil and Laura Dern should have returned for the first Jurassic World film.
Going forward they need to get new people in to make these films across the board, the scripts and direction in this trilogy have been average at best.
Trailer for a fan-made game called 'Jurassic Park: Operations', and it looks great!
... a certain movie came out on the big screen to kick-off a major film franchise.
I remember it well, I watched JP on the first day of release (though we got the film a bit later in the UK), it was some spectacle at the cinema. I bought the movie score soon after, John Williams music really captured the imagination as much as the ground breaking effects.
The 90's was good year for kids of my age, but a lot of movie's been released in the year after. Aladdin in 1993 not 1992 , Mrs Doubtfire in 1994 not 1993, The Lion King in 1994 but possible seen in 1995 same year as Goldeneye. Independence Day & Mission Impossible in 1996. Jurassic Park 2 and Tomorrow Never Dies in 1997. Bond over shadow JP2 a bit.
Back then it take 11-14 months before we get VHS release and Goldeneye 2 VHS set was faster released in late 1996 when there also release other 16 movies but it take till March 1998 before movie get tv premiere. Spectre take his later over where it take 6 years before movie get his Dutch premiere in 2021 before release Of NTTD. QOS was other way around with 1 year and 5 months (MGM needed money and possible les good comments on the movie).
I have first two Jurassic Park movie's on VHS/DVD & the 3th movie on DVD. Last 3 not have seen/own yet, because i whant 3D edition of Jurassic World 1 & 2.
One of the greatest cinema experiences of my live. What a film!
