Improvement (I actually like the jazz score used in the scene, but it clashes with the action and with Bond in general), but that tinny percussion is too distracting for my tastes. I know it's a big hassle, but I hope that you some day re-score the chase again with music ifted from Barry, oreceb Arnold.

Thanks @Birdleson, it wasn't a hassle at all. I made that in less than 20 minutes. But I wouldn't mind doing other versions either. I find it quite fun. :D

Twice as long as it took Sam Smith to write his theme song.

20 times as long as it took Newman to Ctrl C Ctrl V the score from SF to SP.

The same 10 minutes you gave me. It was the least I could do for a friend. ;)

Wouldn‘t even call it a theme song but a chords-based insult. The really bad score of NSNA is much better than this 10-minute „work“.

I soured on NSNA. First few viewings when I was younger, I found it middling. Somewhere in the bottom half.

Nowadays it looks so cheap and barely anything works. Bottom 2-3 if it were canon.

There is something grotesque about NSNA, like the car wreck you don’t want see but still crane your neck to see it, anyway. The title sequence and song are pure 80s cheesiness. But there is something nostalgic about it, too. I have often told my NSNA kidnapping at the drive in story, so I am not sure I should do it again. Let’s just say that my viewing of NSNA is the most impactful of any Bond film I have ever seen—except for maybe SF.

Thought it was a load of crap on first viewing back in 83, have tried to watch it again every so often, but my opinion hasn't changed. It's still a load of crap. Cheap and nasty

The release year was great fun two 007's doing their thing and while I prefer OP still I find that NSNA has so many qualities and fun that it was a better farewell for Connery as DAF.

    Ouch!

I'm not the biggest fan of the film, but I enjoy it for what it is. Sure, it's missing some of the trimmings of the EON stable (most notably John Barry and Ken Adam), but it's not all bad. I think Connery is in fine form in the film and he alone is worth the price of admission for me. It's a privilege to see the man who started it all back in the role one last time. He was and is the best imho.

I've always been a fan in spite of it's lack of Bondian music, Ken Adam designs, gunbarrel, etc.

Honestly the disregard for tradition in the Craig films has made me love NSNA all the more.

+1. That's exactly how I feel too. I couldn't enjoy it in the past but the Craig era has made it easier. It also helps if one forgets TB entirely when viewing it, if possible.

Connery did it to Spite Cubby, Thinking he could Hurt the series. Happily the Public liked Roger's movie More. Still for those who like it, You have one more film to watch in your collection than I have. Nice to know to get the film made, they had to give Cubby a cut of the profits so in a way Connery was back working for him. :D

True. It has a completely different feel than TB.

Someone said here that the official movies feel like a class b movies and nsna feels like a b movie. NSNA has b writen all over it.

And I disagree. Celi is much better Largo and Paluzzi is leagues ahead of Carrera.

I'm not sure how anyone could even rate Celi's work, considering that the entirety of the performance was dubbed by Robert Rietty.

EON would have been lucky to get Brandauer. He's a terrific actor.

He's very good with all the unhinged stuff.

So is Waltz (is the secret being Austrian?). But neither can do much based on an inferior script. Which in that regard I see with SP even more than NSNA.

While not big on NSNA, I do like the cast and think the differences with the main characters who appear in both films I find both equally interesting. Basinger's Domino is the only one I find inferior to Auger's.

I think Connery did it for his own pleasure, career and the fans. Spiting Cubby was a bonus. Critically, the film was better received than OP considered to be more grounded, better villain (debatable of course), and the superior Bond. It did well at the box office and while I liked it more at the time, it has not aged well. Plus you now have superior films made afterwards and it continues to be piled on at the bottom of the pack. Ultimately, I think it was a lost opportunity to have Connery back one last time, it should have been a better film. C'est la vie.

It's worth remembering that a lot of us didn't know much about the back-story of how the movies got made. All we knew was, there were two Bond movies in one year! And in the video rental shops (when every high street had one), the films both looked like they were official.

I kept a few of those big-box VHS tapes, just for old times sake.

My opinion on the films? Octopussy was too silly to ever make classic Bond status. Of the two, I'd rather watch NSNA.

NSNA was a childhood favourite so I will always have a special place for it. I dont think I even realised it wasn't an official Bond film at the time or even a remake of TB. The whole video game casino battle was a standout at the time although I do think it still remains a somewhat underappreciated sequence.

I've always enjoyed that sequence too, dated though it may be today.

OP has plenty of silly stuff - Tarzan yell, gorilla and clown costumes, cheesy humor... Had they done it more seriously, it would have been one of the best films in the series. Even so, for me it's one of the two best Moore films.

NSNA is a much weaker film, but it has its moments, and I simply cannot hate a Connery Bond movie.

Ditto. It was an innovation from the usual card game, and just might have been the sort of novelty someone like Largo would have amused himself with at the time. And given that all video game graphics eventually date, I don't mind the now-retro look. The movie's nearly four decades old after all.

Why do we have two active NSNA threads going simultaneously? I may consolidate them if I can figure out how. @Benny ? How?

Sorry @Birdleson we can't merge two threads together. (Be good if we could)
The only option would be too close one.

    Hate it (video game scene).

It s one of the daftest things in the film. The idea of Bond playing a video game is dumb enough in itself, and then they present something as ludicrous as that on top.
