Good God, Daniel what have you done to your face? I'd hope this is a case of really bad lighting but I don't think so...

Starting to look a bit like Charles Gray!

If he wasn't already Bond, could you see this face and champion his candidacy for the role?

You could say the same for any 50 year old.

Hmmm? Look at the promotion photos of Roger Moore when he shot the spy who loved me, then rephrase.

Not all 50 year olds look like that. That picture actually makes him look like a zombie. In any case, I'm sure he'll be looking on par soon enough.

He wouldn't have been cast at 50...he still looked 50. A good 50...but still 50;)

  • Point for you. Cast? Of course not. But I bet there were still quite a few women way back then that considered him 'way to go'. Apart from German lady I very much doubt there are many women around that think the same of Daniel these days

Not trying to start any arguments but I think speaking just about this site, there's been a bit of a turn around in opinion over the last couple of years. From back when I first joined pretty much up until SP came out, not many had a bad word to say about him. And when there was criticism he'd have a lot of vocal defenders. But is it just me or do we seem a lot more divided on DC nowadays?

I think the same might be true of public opinion but to a lesser extent. Way too many people took those wrist slashing comments seriously, thinking he came across as a proper spoiled Hollywood diva, and EON and the man himself didn't do enough to shut it down. I'm sure if Bond 25 is good though (well I thought Spectre was really good to be honest, so I guess popular/highly regarded would be the word) then things will get a lot more positive again.

Nah I don't think age is the issue. It's how plastic he looked. I'm hoping he hasn't had any work done because that never looks good and he did look really weird at the Baftas. Anyone have any backstage photos so we can see if the lighting made any difference? Tried to find some last night but couldn't.

Not only that ,its his eyebrows that concern me...since when did he get arched eyebrows.

    Screams of botox to me.
Maybe he should leave B25 alone and someone else should do it.

That really seems unlikely, in my opinion.

I think you guys are overreacting. Flood the internet with pictures of Craig in mid-sentence and of course there's talk of hormone therapy and botox. He'll look the part once he gets back onto shape.

It's a bit more than those pictures. He looks odd in the videos from the event as well.

Having said that, he knows what he's signed up for. He's a professional and he knows that Bond isn't Kings or Logan Lucky.

I expect him to get in shape, do whatever work has to be done to make himself presentable, and deliver a performance to blow us away, validating his claims last year that he intends to go out on a high.

Being a huge fan of his tenure as Bond I sincerely hope the waiting time wasn't too long. However - he looked great on Colbert and on that panel discussion before

That look is probably due to drugs.

The pressures of fame have driven many an actor to such things like drinking and drug use. I hope that's not the case for Craig, but I would not be surprised. I am fine with a "bloated" faced Bond in B25, it wouldn't be the first time. As long as the story is up to par. If EON is truly concerned, then the technology currently exists to alter his face with CGI, or have his face be completely CGI'd to hide this unfortunate development. Look at Grand Moff Tarkin in the film "Rogue One". The technology is getting better and better every day. Even used to remove unwanted mustaches. Obviously it would be an outrageous choice to do something like this but the ability is there...

As I said on another thread, I really would strongly prefer if they don't attempt any CGI facial augmentation to remove wrinkles, hide aging and what not. Their attempts at this in SP were quite obvious, far from stellar & very distracting to me.

Just let him be the way he is (assuming he trims down). They've kept him on for a reason (most probably to tell the story of an older Bond) after all.

I watched the footage, Craig could be on anti biotics or steroids for illness.

Though another possibility is he could be piling on the weight to bulk up for Bond and convert fat to muscle mass.

Either way his make up was off.

The most likely is Botox and fillers that are being done some time prior to filming to allow the effects to relax a bit; but it could be from medication.,particularly steroids (non-anabolic) which are used to reduce inflammation but can cause water retention.

As far as bulking up for Bond, well fat cannot be converted to muscle and the degree to which he bulks up for the role has been exaggerated, even in Casino Royale. Craig has a lean muscular physique, when he preps for a role he increases his physical training and cleans up his diet. His weight probably changes very little; by being leaner, as a result of the clean eating, with a bit more muscle, he is more defined and may actually look bigger at the same if not a lighter weight.

    Craig looked bigger in CR

He may have been somewhat bigger but not the bulked up "hulk that some claim. The scene that most point to is where he comes out of the water. If you look at it ,how he's framed in the shot and the lighting make him look bigger than he is. When you see him in other shots done in the same time period , such as when he first arrives at the Ocean Club and when he's working at his computer. He's in shape but not bulky at all, he's lean and fit, as are most ex military.

To my eyes he generally looks to be quite a bit bulkier than the other actors. I realize that this is an optical illusion created by his shorter height and overall stockier frame, combined with the shape of his face etc. The other actors were generally proportionally less squat. It was even a little more emphasized in CR because he was more cut.

Watch the sequence at the Ocean Club from when he arrives to when he gets a room . There's no doubt that he's in shape but he far from bulky.

No, I agree. It's all in relative comparison to his predecessors in the end.

I appreciate the Camera can make people look taller and bigger, Craig appears to have more mass in CR than SF. I am sure he will be OK by the time shooting begins on 25, I have changed my mind regarding Craig doing another after 25, I am convinced now 25 will be his last.

I've been convinced of this for a very long time. Unless they were filming them back to back, there's no way he'll stick around another three to four years to do 26.

Would anyone want another long gap just for a sixth Craig film, anyway? They were already pushing the "too old" angle in SF, it'd be ridiculous for him to still be in the role three films later.

Craig is my second favorite Bond after Connery, but I also hope Bond 25 is his last. 5 is a great amount to finish on, and I’m hopeful his next outing will be great - at least better than SP.
