Fast & Furious 9 has officially finished filming. The film comes out in just over 6 months from now.
Which is odd because I’m fairly sure I actually came across the set of it today in Acton(!) and they certainly hadn’t finished shooting.
I thought they wanted to film 9 and 10 back-to-back?

There could be a small gap between the 2 productions, especially with the recent rumours that Dwayne Johnson & Jason Statham could return in Fast 10 (before an eventual Hobbs & Shaw 2).

I know he said it, I’m just saying I don’t think they completely have. Maybe there’s another unit still going.

Possibly; would they shoot the next in the U.K. as well though?
It’s a big-ish film crew (Panavision trucks etc) shooting in a warehouse with ‘FF’ and ‘FF UK’ written all over their base and vehicles: lots of luxury cars (limos, I don’t think they’re actually in it) waiting around, so presumably some stars. Been there a few days but it doesn’t look an enormous crew, unless they have more vehicles inside.
It could well be something else but the ‘FF’ would seem to be a big coincidence.

I just hope the film feels massive and epic without feeling the need to resort to an overusage of CGI and spectacle. Get back to something akin to Fast Five where the stunts and driving sequences felt grandiose and exciting but still utilized practicality.

I was wrong about this, by the way: it was the new Guy Richie film 'Cash Truck' (although Jason Statham was present so I wasn't too far off! :) ).

  • Fast 8 was a bit much, and I haven't watched the spin-off just yet. Hopeful this one brings more fast car racing and less Russian sub base antics.

It can be the FYEO to our MR. ;)

I don´t mind Russian sub antics, but would love it if they kept the family thing to a minimum, in favor of the action.

Not a big follower of the series and it possible not something new. But looks like this wil be a prequel of the 4th movie from 2009. Fast & Furious. Adele not doing title song of NTTD, but there can play a 2008 song from her or/and Amy Winehouse or Duffy in the movie.

    For chrissakes...
Death means less to this franchise than Supernatural. Letty dies in 4! Nope, back. Han dies in 3/6! Nope, back. If Gal Gadot wasn't busy being the best thing in the DCEU, her character would probably come back, too.

This franchise is pure trash. Can't understand the love for it. And seeing Helen Mirren or Theron in this is just cringeworthy. This is the antithesis of class, of style, of quality. Pure, unbashful trash with the absolute worst actor that ever lived leading a team of gangsta low lives tuner street savvy acephalous morons with their ridiculous hotwheelers that look straight out of a happy meal cardboard, with the worst ever cgi, a tawdry excuse of a soundtrack, and...

Oh, I'll just shut up and go watch heist and car films from the 60s and 70s, or that remake with Nic Cage and Jolie and music from The Cult. Better still, I'll go watch the original Italian Job with a real actor. Or Bullit, if I want a real Mustang and real charisma. Or if I want low lives gangsters but with decent scripts to follow, I'll watch any Guy Ritchie film. These FF are just embarrassing. How on earth do you guys bare to watch these? Really, can anyone please explain it to me?

They don’t look related... Is this another one shot in Glasgow? That doesn’t look like London.
  • If Star Wars can bring back Palpatine I guess F&F can bring Han back from the dead.

The hand-to-hand fights look very good in this one, much closer to Fast Five than Fate of the Furious.

As a life long WWE/WWF fan I am happy to see John Cena get a leading role hopefully it will catapult his film career. The fighting does look good, I see Justin Lin has returned to direct.

How many times did someone follow someone out a window in that trailer? Three? Interesting fighting style.

Haha, but your post is pure class, @Univex :-)). Gone in 60 sec has music from The Cult? Gotta check it out. Not such a big fan of Bullit though, beside the car chase.

I have to admit a) I still fall for this silly action, b) I REALLY hope they can drown the family aspect under a total overkill of action scenes, because the soap opera thing will push me out of the theatre backwards even if they strap me to my chair. Unfortunately, FF films tend to give these family aspects quite some time :-(.

Just when you think things can't possibly get more over the top, but I'm good with it. I love these movies. It looks absolutely ridiculous, even a bit terrible, and yet highly enjoyable. Good old fashioned popcorn entertainment.

I am oddly okay with the Han retcon. Probably the most interesting character in the series so it was always a minor disappointment that they had to shift around the timeline to account for his untimely death in Tokyo Drift. I'll be curious how they try to explain their way out of this one. They did it with Letty so why not!

Thanks man. I always wonder why I´m not listening to more Cult. Ian Astbury is such an exceptional Jim Morrison clone, er singer. And the lineup for that video clip is exceptional too, with Matt Sorum on drums, and I´m pretty sure that´s Martyn LeNoble on bass there. I saw LeNoble live when he played with Porno for Pyros. He´s a monster. Looks like a beanstalk, but he handles that four-string like a true mf :-).

Well...it looks more like MR multiplied with DAD ... but this would even be more realistic than FF9. It looks stupid but it would be enough for an evening with some mates and beer.
P.S. the connection between Diesel and Cena is very creative...NOT! Sounds as great as some kind of idea they had with the character of Waltz in SP...
