Shaft 2019 - I really enjoyed the movie about the three generations of Shaft and how they strutted through the world, I have seen all of them now and they have always been pedestrian and this one does not outshines any of the other ones. Samuel L Jackson does deliver as always.
Oh sorry @talos7 , my mistake. Damn those similar profile pics!
The Equaliser 2: Love Washington as Robert McCall and sincerely hope a third is in the planning going forward?
I concur!
Invaders from Mars '86 , 4/6......Its okay
Each year I watch this it’s honestly my favorite Batman film but I would be lying if I didn’t say I notice a few more Nolanisms and issues each year but it’s still head and and shoulders above the rest and Matt Reeves has a lot to prove
Anyhoo sadly the film knocks down a peg for me I feel there are two scenes I don’t like where as with Casino Royale there is only one but in all three I get why the scenes are there just not my thing

Robocop 2 This is the first time I have watched this in decades, I always thought it was weird film. On Bluray it looks really good the image often pops, the way the film plays out it reminds me of a comic book film.
Whilst watching it occurred to be a lot of the score made me think of Star Trek: The Voyage Home, so no surprise to see Leonard Roseman's name on the credits, I do like the main theme.
The film does hold some interest with its ideas though it ought to do with Irvin Kershner directing and Frank Miller responsible for the story and screenplay. Of course its nowhere near the quality of the first film which is one of the greatest films of the genre, I quite enjoyed the movie this time round.
P. S. Tippi Hedren's grand daughter God dam! I think this is the first time I have watched a film starring Dakota Johnson.
Give SUSPIRIA a try then, @Fire_and_Ice_Returns. ;-)
The first is a cast-iron classic that's always an unmitigated pleasure. The second, one I'd a little embarrassingly never seen properly - and now glad I have. Tightly scripted, finely played and nicely directed, with an impressive control of tone throughout.
Body Heat is a terrific noir thriller. With the Maestro John Barry on score duties. Kathleen Turner is amazing I it . Can't imagine Sigourney Weaver in it, who they wanted originally I believe!
I think Homecoming was better.
The kid that played that kid mobster was great in the role.
If you mean Chris Hemsworth, I agree. The weakest part of the movie.
... but the film doesn't, I'm afraid.
While certainly showing potential in its premise, cast and settings, neither the jokes nor the horror works well. Pegg and Sheen thrive on their natural charisma; Butterfield, Cole and Corfield do a fair bit of acting, but Frost is a disappointment and so is how the story unfolds. Neither as exciting as Dog Soldiers nor as balanced as Attack the Block, Slaughterhouse Rulez expects too much goodwill from us. If Edgar Wright had made this film as the next installment of the "Three Flavours Cornetto" series, it might have turned out a pretty good film, what with all the talented actors involved and such. But as it is now, I'm just not a fan; something didn't click.
Garbo herself overacts slightly in her first scene but is lovely later on. John Barrymore, playing her lover the Baron, is superb and charming as usual and a wonderful partner for Garbo--the pairing has an almost spiritual connection, along with a very sensual one. (Barrymore would have made an excellent Bond in his prime--he could convincingly fake a British accent). As for John's brother Lionel, who plays the dying accountant, I thought he overacted dreadfully and gave a very mannered performance, but I seem to be in the minority.
Joan Crawford was still young and sexy at the time, with impossibly large come-hither eyes, and she plays a cynical stenographer who's not above using her body. This gets her in trouble with Wallace Beery, playing the nasty business tycoon. Beery could play bastards in his sleep, and he excels as usual; his character is less earthy than usual and more of a stuffed shirt. Lewis Stone doesn't get enough to do as the scarred doctor who walks around complaining that nothing happens at the Grand Hotel.
Overall I I could have done with more of Garbo and John Barrymore and less of Lionel, but this film is still a crowd-pleaser, and on Blu-Ray it looks gorgeous. Cedric Gibbons's sets are an art-deco masterpiece.
I noticed it was available on Amazon Prime, been meaning to give it a watch the trailer was excellent.
That's right, Chris Hemsworth is a likable chap though he was a bit out of his depth comparing him to the rest of the cast.
He was a convincing little... I remember seeing that actor in an episode of Star Trek The Next Generation also.
Having never seen any of Fukunaga's work before, I decided to give his three feature films a go in preparation as it were for Bond 25.
Sin Nombre didn't let me down, that's for sure. A powerful film, in the vein of Metro Manilla, it demonstrates good storytelling abilities and fine dramatic impulses. Fukunaga's dedication when producing this film is highly recommendable. Given how much he was able to do with what little tools were at his disposal, I'd say my first encounter with his work was a success.
Recommended.

It was very fine. Not the worst.
Gyllenhaal is very good in this film, to be fair. Himself and Holland bounce well off each other.
The film just has a massive amount of baggage, so much so that it often doesn't feel like a Spider-Man film. Though I understand that they don't want to go over already covered ground.
The first post-credit scene is really quite something. Sets things up nicely for Holland's inevitable third film.
I must give that a look. Seen only True Detective and Beasts of no Nation and enjoyed both!
Accident Man is still my favourite, but strictly in terms of showing of Adkins' physical prowess, this is the best film i've seen of his. That two-on-one fight was the best.
