I've been meaning to watch Tenebre for a while.

I tried watching Les visiteurs 2 a few days ago. I thought the first film was good, but for some reason I just couldn't get into the sequel, so I quit watching it, which rarely happens in my case. I also missed Valérie Lemercier, who was great in the original.

Last night rewatched TENEBRE. It most certainly held up as one of my very favourite movies.

    You have impeccable taste, sir.

Your location reminds me of one particularly unsettling scene ;)

All silly jokes aside, it's a masterpiece both visually as well as thematically.

The fabulous camerawork, the funky electrorock music score, the gorgeous cinematography and use of colour (red objects vs. an overall toned-down colour pattern), Dario Argento at his most meta, commenting on his own work through the protagonist, and an intriguing mystery plot in true giallo fashion.

Also, maybe less important but definitely very handsome to look at: the Bauhaus architecture of the EUR district in Rome, the elegant outfits, the Lancia Montecarlo and the Alfa GTV6 (the one from OP!), and of course Ania Pieroni & other Italian beauties.

    Shock art at its best!

You're putting me in an Argento mood, @GoldenGun. Tenebre is definitely up there with his best.

    Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

I hadn't seen it for a very long time, the movie is great. Really well written and makes very good use of its central premise. Cruise is (as he always is) very good and so is Emily Blunt (I still hold hope we will have her as a Bond girl one day). The action is well staged and its always exciting and entertaining. Highly recommended.

Bill Paxton is also great in his role as the Army squad leader.

I agree; it's a cool film! Sadly, it also came out in an era when it was in vogue to hate on Tom Cruise. Many people told me they weren't going to see the film "because of Cruise." I've got a feeling that issue has more or less been resolved and respect for Cruise has returned. (*)

I also liked Oblivion, another Cruise sci-fi flick from those days that I think did an admirable job.

(*) Nowadays, it's in vogue to hate on Zack Snyder. ;-)

    LEGEND (1985)
Not the Tom Hardy Kray twins film, but Ridley Scotts fantasy movie starring Tom Cruise!!
Havent watched it since seeing it in the cinema, and this blu ray, though a bit grainy in places, looks great. Of course the visuals are Scotts forte and they are excellent, particularly Assheton Gortons production design.
The film belongs though to Tim Currys amazing portrayal of Darkness. Under a ton of make up by effects maestro Rob (The Thing) Bottin, Curry gives a memorable personification of the Devil.
Of course ithe film will also be remembered as part of the tragedy that was the burning down of the 007 stage, which killed a lot of the birds used in the film!

    P (Paul Spurrier, 2005)

Starts out good as a social commentary, but deteriorates into something horrible when it turns into a horror film.

Went to the theater to watch The New Mutants. It's not a super-hero movie, but a nice little small cast horror movie. Worth the watch, but I think better seen at home on DVD. Still, Alice Braga and Anna Taylor-Joy steal the show.

Fun tidbit. saw The Wild Geese in the cinema in the 80s sometime. Remember practically nothing.

Just watched Bill & Ted Face the Music.
Not as high energy as the first two (How could it be? These guys are MY age!), but the funny is definitely there. It's a giggle.

Finally got to enjoy Bond's very own Tsai Chin in Lucky Grandma. Wasn't the best film I've seen but I really enjoyed the culture and lightheartedness (and just the opposite at times) the film had to offer and her stoic, chain-smoking, world-weary performance. It wasn't as laugh out loud funny as it was amusing and I enjoyed the deep dive into Chinatown that the film locked into throughout.

    Payback (AKA Debt Collectors)
Scott Adkins and Louis Mandylor return for another round of bickering, debt collecting and ass kicking. It doesn't stray too far from the first film, but then the first film had a likeable formula, so why change it?

(1975 model, nothing to do with the movie, just a nice car.)

Cool revisit to the Gilliganverse, like an encore. Picks up right where Breaking Bad ended, and has some flashbacks from that period that we hadn t seen before.
