Not really. Annoying kid, a plot twist that Marvel is trying to make up for, slow pacing in the middle, bad jokes. It’s Marvel Studios at its worst.
Iron Man 3 was fun. The Predator was tedious. Neither were great, but fun trum- omg, we will really never get to use that as a word ever again, will we? WINS OUT over tedious.
This is the one I've had my sights on for a while.
But on top of that is Tony's lingering PTSD, his need to solve some problems without a suit for a little while, the Air Force One rescue, the attack on Tony's home and then later on the final fight at the tanker. Also, I used to hate it, but the twist has grown on me.
An absolute favourite of mine! Highly recommended :)
Just want to say thank you, @Dwayne, for commenting so often on my movie choices. We must be more or less of the same generation and share mostly the same preferences.
In the two plus years that I’ve been a member here, I’ve noticed a significant overlap in musical and film interests among the members. And while there is diverse opinion about the specifics of a given issue among the members, we tend to be on a similar wave length.
Alita: Battle Angel 4K I bought this a while ago only just got round to watching it. As a fan and collector of Manga films back in late 80's and 90's I think this film was amazing, very impressive.
Excellent choice, @Fire_and_Ice_Returns. I thought this film did the first part of the manga very well. This is the first manga adaptation that gives me some hope--I say some home--that they may be able to do an AKIRA adaptation well.
I hope we get the continuation now that Disney has 20th Century Fox. Alita was such a well developed character the film does have flaws though Alita makes it worthwhile. the action is superb.
I still have my Akira Boxset on DVD, I heard a film adaption was in development some time ago and then the pandemic happened.
I have absolutely no idea why anyone would want to re-adapt Akira and I CERTAINLY don't see the point of doing it in live-action.
I gave up on the superhero genre a while ago - I think the last one I saw was Civil War or whichever one had a fight at the airport - but I might have to check this one out. I'll probably be lost as to what's going on but for years, while I was a fan of these films, I kept wondering why they hadn't gotten around to a standalone film for her character. I saw a trailer for it a long while back, the action seemed pretty good and the cast was great.
The '88 anime tells about 50% of the entire story. And I think that, seeing what films can show these days, a live-action Akira may be an awesome spectacle to enjoy. Either way, the "problem" is that it is going to happen sooner or later. I want to see it done well. 😉
What... a... dud !
It's a bloody mess, and hardly a glorious one. It is to The Ipcress File what You Only Live Twice (released the same year) is to From Russia With Love, except the latter is still unmistakably a Bond movie whereas Brain is devoid of all the things that have made Palmer such a unique character and the first movie such an enduring classic of the spy genre.
Next on the agenda is Funeral In Berlin which I expect to enjoy far more than this disaster.
Nice lotus in this entertaining film.
Love both of those latter Hammer flicks. Lately I've become quite partial to GOLDEN VAMPIRES....probably because of Julie Ege.
Yesterday watched Nosferatu a Venezia, notorious for Klaus Kinski terrorising everyone on set to such an extend, they just stopped filming all together.
Anyway, the plot is non-existant but the film has a moody atmosphere like only Italians can create.
Also featuring Christopher Plummer, Donald Pleasence and Barbara De Rossi.
Must be exciting enough if the nudity-free trailer still contains nudity.
@mattjoes Sorry, I must have missed your comment, but you're right, I had a great time with it despite the lack of a decent story. Though, like so many Italian horror films, it's that lack of logical story-telling in combination with the dreamlike visuals that often give these films a nightmarish quality.
Same here. Along with Palance and Lugosi, Kinski is in my top 3 Draculas.
I like Sinbad, and this was pretty funny, especially the scene with the monkey and the peanut butter in the evil lawyer's pants.
Boy did i enjoy this. Smith and Lawrence bounce off each other so well! Reminds me of Gibson and Glover's relationship from Lethal Weapon.
Black Widow.
Great fun and i have to say....... Red Guardian stole the movie for me. Made me laugh so much. :-bd
