    The Shining has always been my favorite, and I think as of this moment, my Top 5 including that would be Dr. Strangelove, Barry Lyndon, Paths of Glory, and Eyes Wide Shut. A Clockwork Orange and 2001 are constant threats for the Top 5, too, though. Kubrick just has the most impressive, varied, but not too big filmography out there.

    When I did my masters in journalism I did an intern at a cultural magazine in Belgium and I wrote an article on Kubrick, claiming that he made a classic / masterpiece in every genre that he tackled. It's in Dutch of course, so afraid only @DarthDimi (as far as I know anyway) can get something out of it :))

    Suffice to say though, Kubrick excelled in several genres and that's something few directors can claim.

    @GoldenGun
    I'd certainly be interested in reading your article. Would you mind sending it to me via PM?

    Now I'm curious too, @chrisisall. I wonder how you'll feel about the film. As with any other Kubrick film, it's quite unlike the ones that came before it. I'll be honest: I had to watch the film a second time to assess my feelings, but isn't that usually a good thing? Makes films more interesting, no?

    Well, you can tell I'm a Kubrick fan by my forum name.
