It was actually me that said that, but whatever.
;)
Re: the sequel trilogy, anyway. The Force Awakens is still my favourite of the bunch by quite a bit. I admire what Johnson was attempting with his film, but I unfortunately found it quite a slog for the most part. One of the things that I judge films like these on is rewatchability, and neither TLJ or ROS have that factor going for them. There are certain scenes that I really enjoy watching clips of on Youtube, but that's about it.
I'll take any and all compliments, my friend!
And yes, I couldn't agree more with you there. A recent first time viewing or not, I simply have no desire to revisit those two but I saw TFA once in theaters and several times over the years. It's still pretty entertaining to me.
I don't have an issue with Kennedy the way some other fans do, but I think she's way off the mark on suggesting that you can't recast famous parts with younger actors. Meanwhile, OBI-WAN KENOBI debuts next week featuring what is the most famous recasting of Star Wars characters.
Whatever flaws there were with SOLO, the recasting isn't even close to why that film bombed. What makes me dread these statements by her is that it sounds like she'll double down on digital CGI characters.
I am also glad to hear Kennedy and Lucasfilm are avoiding ‘trilogies’ going forward . It sounds like they are really planning this time and hopefully those new films have really good scripts.
But if there was one Saga film to truly put me to sleep it would be The Phantom Menace.
Yeah it's good fun. A Sunday afternoon film.
I saw this meme which I rather liked:
I think that meme represents all sorts of fans, including Bond fans. Often overthinking the latest film, they sometimes forget that their beloved property was full of imperfections from the start; they just grew up loving the flawed originals, but inspect the flawed new stuff under a microscope.
This sums Solo up well. It's by no means a bad film.
That would have been kind of amazing actually and something absolutely no one would have expected.
The actor did his job and did it well. I actually think the criticisms of Jar-Jar in general are pretty over-the-top. He was by no means a gleaming jewel in Star Wars' crown, but he also doesn't really detract from my enjoyment of The Phantom Menace. It's a lighthearted, goofy movie to begin with.
Not really because we see Anakin lured to the dark side with the hope of learning the Sith power that will save Padme from dying as his mother had, and already he had been in contention with Obi-Wan over the decisions of the Jedi council. Plus we’d seen him single-handedly massacre a Tuskan camp out of rage—and not just the men, but the women…and the children too. Helping Palpatine kill Mace Windu was what pushed him over the edge. Killing a fellow Jedi was the point of no return for Anakin. We saw him consciously make that decision—the life of a Sith over the life of a Jedi. By that point, he had committed fully to pursuing the power that would save Padme, and the lives of some Jedi younglings weren’t going to stand in his way. Before Anakin killed Jedi children he had both a) killed children and b) helped a Sith Lord kill a Jedi. If you saw Anakin go from 0 to 200, you missed a lot.
A more apt Batman Begins comparison would be if Bruce had gone through with killing Joe Chill if he was meant to become a more fallen character. He was going to kill Joe Chill before Falcone’s gun-for-hire did it for him. Batman Begins showed us what brought Bruce to stand at the edge of that abyss and look into it, just as AOTC and ROTS showed us what caused Anakin to plunge into his own abyss.
Of all the claims of feminism inflicted on the star wars franchise, this is by far the most ludicrous
He did his...
best.
His Ahmed Best.
I'd expect nothing less!

Indeed. This show is a really good chance to flesh out those pre-Rebellion (TM) characters that a 2 hour film didn't quite do justice. Plus Diego Luna is an excellent actor, I quite enjoyed his work on Narcos.
I love Rogue One and I don't get this series at all. I found it odd that considering the title of it, the character barely features in the trailer at all. Quite telling.
