Chili, anyone? With garlic, mmm. Goes with anything but icecream.
Most definitely. I put raw chili in my bolognese and sometimes add some chili sauce and chili flakes. Not controversial in the slightest.

I put it in my omelette. And mozarella, too.

    Ketchup on meat is horrible.

    Actually, ketchup is horrible period.
Wow, I agree. I was going to say I hate Islam, but you win this whole round with that.

This inspired me to state a new opinion that no doubt will add some chilli to the discussion and steer this thread back on controversial territory:

I think we as westerners can learn a great deal about human decency and general politeness from muslims...

Politeness? I can see that. Human decency? Not so much- unless enslaving females is considered 'decent'. Our western female slave population is treated MUCH better.

Yep, keep em mute, on their bare feets, pregnant and in the kitchen. ;)

Just to (unnecessary) clarify: The statement is not; "westerners can learn about decency in every aspect of life". And I want to (unnecessary) remind you that the "muslim world" includes a vast variety of different cultures, and not all of them treat women as bad as you might think...

A topic on religion is only going to go one way.

You wanna harden the target then? Which precise part of the Muslim world then, cause, y'know, most religions of the world have had their crazies runnin' things at times.

Anyway, yeah, religion doesn't track well here or on most other sites, someone's gonna get all hot & bothered....

You're probably right. I was trying to cause a fertile debate where we could discuss Islam as a religion in a more reflective perspective and not purely focus on all the stereotypes, prejudice and negatives... maybe even discover its astounding similarities to our western religions. But it guess it is futile on this thread... or maybe indeed any forum these days it seems...

Lets forget it all... and keep on talking about the use of chillies in cooking! Yeah, I love them! Made a pasta dish (Penne all All'Arrabiatta) with plenty of them only a few hours ago. Man, I love chillies...

Any topics on religion, Bond being a woman/black/gay (couldn't imagine a topic talking about Bond being a black lesbian...), etc. usually go downhill within a page or two and they get closed. It just can't be done, people cling to their beliefs and start bashing others so quickly that tensions run high and people get heated way too fast, so it never works out.

Maybe we should start a new thread: 'Controversial opinions about chilies'. It's a hot topic right now.

Chili peppers make some folks sick, but I only disagree with something that eats me.

A few new ones (and probably some I already posted)

    1. The A-team was a great film and deserves a sequel
    2. Will Ferrel apart from celebrity jeopardy is annoying unfunny and a bad actor.
    3. Ben Affleck as batman is cool and I think if he directed a solo batman film with Hugo Strange as the main Villain he might pass the dark knight
    4. Macgyver The mobile game is decent but I still feel square Enix could develop a grea Macgyver video game for the console with Richard Dean Anderson 1980's likeness and a good plot it could reinvent the stealth spy genre like splinter cell in 2002.
    5. Colonel Sun The Video Game would be perfect and better then any goldeneye game.
    6. Heaven & Earth by Yes will be the best album of 2014

    That is it for now

Don't you give anyone's idea here.

Which brings me to one controversial opinion, not merely about Bond movies, but about acting and cinema in general: if there is a bad casting idea, someone, somewhere will defend it as a good idea.

@Ludovico, I'm all for a unique casting idea - just look how Ledger turned out in TDK - but there's a difference between someone being a unique choice for a film and somebody being a terrible casting choice.

Oh I am all for thinking outside the box. Craig was cast thinking outside the box, if Joe Public had had its way we would have had Jude Law or even Hugh Grant as Bond.

*shudders* I can confidently say I would've been done with the Bond series had Hugh Grant been cast as Bond. I wouldn't even give that film a shot.

And see, outside-the-box thinking got us Craig, who is phenomenal in the role. It's nice to spice it up and change up casting every now and then instead of casting the same person in the same kind of role in every different film out there.
