This may sound bad @Darth but during the 2012 Olympics one of the routes used for cycling went right by where I lived. I remember my friends couldn't understand why I wouldn't ask for the day off work to go and watch them fly past.

    I'm not a sporting man @Darth Dimi.

I can't really connect to it.

Even at my best indeed haha. I remember once I tried sailing and capsized the boat while it was still tied to the shore.

Couldn t we just moan in the football threads instead? I did before. The first time I was ignored. The second time I got my post removed. Come to think of it, let us keep it here, much more cosy.

This is where we can be controversial. ;-)

Of course some things are simply unacceptable. Like this ;-)

As long as to much costs concerning with football are paid by the general public then the football should be shown on an open channel, otherwise the clubs pay them for themselves and get a bill from the police for overtime and injuries and damages.

I would not mind having a tied up Halle Berry in my room, she is quite a fit lady.

Here's a controversial opinion I may have shared before: I hate American football so much. I don't see all the fuss with it. You can break it down to bare basics like any other sport, but it's just one of the slowest, dullest, idiotic sports I've ever watched.

I hate all televised sporting events. They just clog up space for my non existent television programming these days. :))

The only sport I'm really, really into is hockey. I can watch some basketball, golf, or real football, but that's it.

    What kind of hockey?

Oh no it's not. Give me another sport where the "best player in the world" is 1M69 according to some, and 1m95 according to some others. You can play football in so many different ways, you don't feel like you're watching 22 clones on the field.

Ice hockey/NHL, but really I'll sit down and watch any ice hockey that's on.

It sure looks like the same boring game to me. What did they say in The Simpsons? "Fast kicking, low scoring, and ties!"

I do understand the appeal: you just need a ball to play, literally. So once you have this, everyone can make a soccer team. So this is why you have poor kids around the world playing it, dreaming about becoming these uneducated billionaires who earn money kicking a ball... or not. They can earn money running around the ball, which seems to be what they do most of the time. The most popular sport in the world is also the most boring sport in the world. And I am not talking about the supporters.

    I can watch that too.

my preference is field hockey, but after two years coaching girls in field hockey that would be obvious.

The only sport I even have a mild interest in is basketball, and occasionally baseball- all others just fail to grab my attention, frankly- especially football and soccer. Talk about a snooze fest with those two!

I would have to say baseball is the biggest snooze fest of them all. Terribly boring, I can't stand it.

Baseball movies are cool though (The Natural, Field Of Dreams, etc.).

Like blockbusters look the same boring formula to many moviegoers !

Except that in this sport, no one can guess the end. FYI, all those who think Brazil is the obvious winner because everything is rigged, can go to a betting sport site, it's about 4/1 odd. A very good ratio for a "sure" bet. France is 18/1 :)

Daniel Craig earnt in the few weeks of work on one movie what Karim Benzema earnt in 3 or 4 years ;)

Really, here is a weird place to read such criticism of football.

Ok, so there's plenty of conventional, unimaginative blockbusters. And that makes football any good... because? I fail to see how it works here.

Regarding the comparative work of a professional footballer and a professional actor, I know which I one I find more admirable. And more challenging.

They can be, but that's about as far as the entertainment goes for me in terms of baseball. I don't understand the excitement with it. I've heard going to actual games is much better than watching it, which may be true, I suppose, but the sport itself is way too boring. I don't care for it, nor the repetitiveness of American football.

It's funny like that. I used to really enjoy playing golf and cricket, but I could never get into watching it on TV. It's just so incredibly boring if you're not participating in it.

Some sports I prefer to play other sports I prefer to watch.

I prefer watching any sport that requires any sort of exertion.

I'd rather climb a mountain rather than standing around in the hot sun waiting to maybe catch a ball, MUCH LESS watch it on TV. :))

They have an idea, that's why they aren't missing out on it. But, we've trashed so many sports, so which one are you talking about?
