An elimination game based on each of the film's trailers perhaps?
  • @josiah - Sure

@jake24 - That's a very good idea, but I'm not sure if it'd be fair to some of the earlier ones.

    Big Battles

    FRWL - Gypsy Camp
    GF - Fort Knox
    TB - Underwater
    YOLT - Volcano
    OHMSS - Piz Gloria
    DAF - Oil Rig
    TSWLM - Liparus
    MR - Space Lazer
    FYEO - Kristatos's Warehouse
    OP - Khan's Palace
    TLD - Air base

    Optionally included:

    TND - Stealth Ship
    QOS - Eco Hotel
    SF - Skyfall

I like the idea of climactic action scenes, which would let in things like LTK's Tanker Chase, which isn't so much of a battle.

Battles I had meant as Bond an army versus the villain's army.

If we were to do climactic action scenes (which I would also vote in favour of) it would look like this:

DN - Fight with Dr. No
    FRWL - Boat Chase
GF - Battle at Fort Knox
    TB - Underwater Battle
    YOLT - Volcano Battle
OHMSS - Battle at Piz Gloria
    DAF - Oil Rig Battle
    LALD - Fight with Kananga
    TMWTGG - Duel with Scaramanga
TSWLM - Battle on the Liparus
    MR - Space Lazer Battle
FYEO - Fight at St. Cyril's
    OP - Plane Grappling
AVTAK - Fight on the Golden Gate Bridge
    TLD - Fight with Necros
    LTK - Tanker Chase
    GE - Fight with 006
TND - Battle on the Stealth Ship
    TWINE - Submarine Battle
    DAD - Plane Battle
CR - Fight in the Venetian Building
QOS - Battle in the Eco Hotel
    SF - Attack on Skyfall
SP - Rescue of Madeleine Swann

This is another great idea. I'd certainly enjoy this game. Think we need an updated list of all ideas put forward.

Ok ladies and gents, boys and girls. One of our members has asked for a vote on how the elimination games pan out when the scores get very high.
For example in the recent Bond film elimination game there was a call for points to be deducted by 50%.
I have maintained that this is not a fair system and we should just let the games play out. I don't see the urgency to finish these games. But so I'm not referred too as a dictator or such then let's have a vote on it

    A. Deduct 50% from all scores when the remaining entries go over a certain point (ie 70 or more)

    B. Keep the games as they are and make sure that no games begin with more than 30 points
    Preferably 20

Reducing the start to 30 (better 20) solves the problem, so:

I don't understand what's supposed to be insufficient with the current system. The games have been run very smoothly is my impression.

@Benny I would hate to think your own opinion isn't even represented as a choice in the vote. Why not include a choice of C where everything remains as is for users who prefer longer games? (Just a suggestion. My vote remains the same either way).

Adding a third criteria for those that want it. Though most seem to be happy with voting B

    A. Deduct 50% from all scores when the remaining entries go over a certain point (ie 70 or more)

    B. Keep the games as they are and make sure that no games begin with more than 30 points
    Preferably 20

    C. Keep the games as they are, start them at any point, and let them pan out without any reduction, no matter how long it takes.

I wont be adding any more alterations as I only want to enjoy the elimination games. They're supposed to be a fun add on to general Bondian discussion. Not a potential World War 3 catalyst with every vote scrutinised and reviewed because of what a member may have said in the past.

B: But it should be limited to 20 initial points. Otherwise the games go on for too long.

I'd still say B, but C wouldn't worry me at all.

Depends on how many options there are. No deduction, please. We have been through that before.

Definitely, but limited to 20 points.

That is true. But what is the benefit of giving more initial points? Even if you only have let's say 12 alternatives, it makes no sense to start with more than 20 initial points. We have seen it in the "Bond car elimination game" which went on way to long with only few participants in the end. 20 points is really enough. The most favourite choices will easily increase their maximum number of points to 50 during the game.

BTW: Has there ever been a "Bond Allies" elimination game? If so, is there anyone interested in doing it again?

That HAS happened. I personally would not be interested but I'm sure lots would.
