If it was up to me, I’d also love to add Hitchcock directing Thunderball as the first James Bond movie. Did Fleming suggest Cary Grant in the role, can’t quite remember if that’s fact or not?
https://screenrant.com/james-bond-actors-almost-cast-007/amp/
Somewhere else I've read that Fleming gave the producers a list of seven potential Bond actors, including Grant.
As far as I can recall, those are DAF, MR, NSNA, AVTAK, GE, DAD, QOS and SP. Would be cool if one of these won one someday. I think GE came close in a main title sequence game, but lost to CR.
1. Historical almost bonds so which almost Bond Cary Grant or Ralph Fiennes would you have liked to see as 007
2. Bond #7 actor elimination game
Let me know if either has interest
For both games, there could be quite a few contenders.
so my list would be
1. Cary Grant 1962
2. Richard Burton 1962
3. Rex Harrison 1962
3. Michael Caine 1969
4. Michael Gambon 1969
5. Oliver Reed 1969
6. Adam West 1969/71
7. John Gavin 1971
8. Josh Brolin 1983
9. Sam Neill 1987
10. Mel Gibson 1987
11. Liam Neeson 1995
12. Sean Bean 1995
13. Henry Cavill 2005
14. Christian Bale 2005
15. Alex O'loughln 2005
As for the bond # 7
1. Michael Fassbender
2. Adrian Turner
3. Nicholas Holt
4. Cillian Murphy
5. Tom Hardy
6. Tom Hiddleston
7. Rupert Friend
8. Robert Pattinson
9. James Norton
10. Sam Heughan
11. Jack Lowden
12. Richard Madden
13. Henry Cavill
14. Damian Lewis
15. Tom Holland
16. Chris Hemsworth
17. Liam Hemsworth
18. Luke Evans
19. Jamie Bell
20. Sam Claflin
21. Taron Egerton
22. Tom Ellis
23. Charlie Hunnam
24. Jamie Dornan
25. James McAvoy
26. Benedict Cumberbatch
27. Dan Stevens
Let me know 2 things 1 if there are any glaringly obvious admissions and 2 when you want me to start.
1. Dr. No: "One million dollars, Mr. Bond" (or the tarantula room scene)
2. Klebb: Testing Grant's fitness
3. Goldfinger: Hustling his pigeon in Miami
4. Largo: Illegal parking and a smoking board meeting
5. Blofeld: "Allow me to introduce myself..." (or piranha-feeding)
6. Blofeld: Exiting the lab to some ominous Barry
7. Blofeld: "Double jeopardy, Mr. Bond."
8. Kananga: Enjoying a killer UN meeting with Solitaire
9. Scaramanga: "Nick Nack! Tabasco!"
10. Stromberg: "Someone has betrayed me..."
11. Drax: Chopin, Dobermanns, and cucumber sandwiches
12. Kristatos: Glühwein, rink-side
13. Kahn: An eggspensive bid
14. Zorin: Under surveillance at Ascot
15. Koskov: What a boot it?
16. Sanchez: "Did he promise you his heart?"
17. Trevelyan: "You're late, 007" (or the statue graveyard scene where Janus is revealed)
18. Carver: Video conferencing before it was the thing everyone did
19. Elektra: Appeasing the villagers (or King's funeral)
20. Graves: "London Calling" (or kickboxing)
21. Le Chiffre: "I believe in a reasonable rate of return."
22. Greene: "Would you like to see my stamp collection, Mr. Bond?"
23. Silva: "Hello, James..."
24. Blofeld: "Cuckoo..." (or Sciarra's funeral)
Some of these it depends on how technical you want to get with the villain's very first appearance in the film or going with the spirit of what has been designed to be a grand entrance scene.
Did we ever do @GoldenGun's Returning Actors idea?
Anthony Dawson (DN & FRWL+TB)
Ursula Andress (DN & CR67)
Nadja Regin (FRWL & GF)
Martine Beswick (FRWL & TB)
Vladek Sheybal (FRWL & CR67)
Walter Gotell (FRWL & TSWLM-TLD)
Burt Kwouk (GF & YOLT)
Tsai Chin (YOLT & CR)
Angela Scoular (CR67 & OHMSS)
Ed Bishop (YOLT & DAF)
Charles Gray (YOLT & DAF)
Shane Rimmer (YOLT, DAF & TSWLM)
George Baker (OHMSS & TSWLM)
Maud Adams (TMWTGG & OP)
Valerie Leon (TSWLM & NSNA)
Nadim Sawalha (TSWLM & TLD)
Manning Redwood (NSNA & AVTAK)
Joe Don Baker (TLD & GE+TND)
Michael G Wilson (various)
This one looks fun. There are a few more that could be added as well. Like Diane Hartford and Marc Lawrence.
I'd propose the following scenes that involve the Bond theme playing:
DN - Casino intro
FRWL - Bond is shadowed in Istanbul
GF - PTS intro
TB - Shrublands retaliation
YOLT - Little Nellie scene
OHMSS - Raid on Piz Gloria
DAF - Hovercraft
LALD - Bond is shadowed in Harlem
TMWTGG - Preparing for car jump
TSWLM - Ski jump
MR - Skydiving
FYEO - Helicopter scene
OP - Bond disguises as Colonel in PTS
AVTAK - Paris chase
TLD - Gibraltar car fight
LTK - Bond climbs on Sanchez' tanker
GE - Tank chase
TND - PTS plane takes off
TWINE - Bilbao abseiling
DAD - Blades sword fight
CR - Ending scene
QoS - Boat chase
SF - Excavator scene
SP - Bond drives off with Madeleine
Or maybe @Risico007 wants to start his 'Almost Bond' game soon? Which I'd appreciate.
DN - Fight Bond vs Jones
FRWL - Fight Bond vs Grant
GF - Fight Bond vs. Capungo
TB - Count Lippe car crash
YOLT - Osato office fight
OHMSS - Stock car race
DAF - Two wheels
LALD - Crocodile jump
TMWTGG - Spiral car jump
TSWLM - Ski jump
MR - Skydiving
FYEO - Motorbike on bobsleigh track
OP - Plane stunt
AVTAK - Car jump on bus
TLD - Cargo net fight
LTK - Tanker truck on side wheels
GE - Tank chase - jeeps falling into river
TND - Motorbike jump
TWINE - Barrel roll boat
DAD - Blades fight
CR - Crane action
QoS - Rope fight
SF - Train fight
SP - Helicopter fight
I think @Some_Kind_Of_Hero could instead start the villain intro game soon (or is there someone who would participate but hasn't seen NTTD yet?).
Is it time?
"We've got the green light!"
Just want to see if the majority would be okay with these particular choices I'm thinking of:
Dr. No and Blofeld (YOLT) both according to their first in-person, unobscured face scene. So no disembodied voice in the tarantula room or feeding Helga to the piranhas (both are great scenes). Rather, dinner with Dr. No and Blofeld introducing himself to Bond in YOLT.
Kananga is really a background player in the UN scene. It's so brief and he isn't really involved in the scene in a remarkable way (unlike Khan bidding on the egg or Zorin the focus of MI6's discussion at Ascot). So I would propose the scene where we see Kananga entering with his squad and playing the tape.
Similarly, I'd suggest going for Elektra appeasing the villagers as it's such a brief moment at the funeral.
Trevelyn might be a controversial one, but I would propose the statue graveyard as it's more his villain entrance scene—the introduction of Janus, as opposed to Alec. Let me know what you all think.
Graves is another tough one to decide. I would propose "London Calling" because it's not only a whole new face but a new persona being introduced here. But I feel this one could go either way so I'll defer to what you all prefer.
And then I think Blofeld (SP) definitely ought to be at the table at the meeting in Rome.
Yay or nay these, and I'll get this up and running!
