Karen Gillan oh my... Too young for Craig though
True and that'a a problem for me. I am not too keen on them being forced into a corner with 'women' (as opposed to girls) in order to accommodate an ageing Bond.

Well, unless it's Cate Blanchett, Kate Beckinsale or Carice van Houten of course. I'll make exceptions there.

They could have a younger woman involved that is not a romantic interest along the lines of Camile in QOS.
These are the kind of compromises I would prefer they not make. I'm expecting Craig to go out 'on a high' as he proclaimed. That means beating Rog's number (I think he had 4 conquests in AVTAK).

I'd be okay if he doesn't get laid at all to be honest. I want them to go the YOLT route. Maybe he can have sex with the Kissy stand in before he goes to fight Blofeld (sort of a passionate reawakening of the old 007, he trains and then finally gets his end away to signify he's back and ready for the mission) or if they go all out and follow the book ending then obviously he'll have to at the end (and I hope they include her being pregnant if they do go down that road, makes the ending all the more tragic) but I don't need him beating Moore's record. He should go out on a high by giving the performance of his life time in a long awaited proper adaptation of the best Bond novel imo.
I can understand. I was only partially joking in my prior post however. Much as I'd like a grittier film with a really excellent and 'authentic' final Craig performance (which I don't believe SP was btw), I also long for a return to the wittier, lighter fare of yore, with a bit of carefree fun.

I'm not looking for anyone rummaging around for a bar of soap necessarily, but would still like to see him sign off with a bit of customary nooky at least.

Yeah I understand, and I don't disagree, but I think the time for that sort of thing with Craig has passed now. I think he could have done with a straight forward stand alone between QoS and SF, to show him in his prime, but with where we're at for Bond 25 the next one needs to be bleak and surreal. Really do the book justice and finish the Craig era in a fitting, ballsy way. And then we can get something more straightforward and fun with the next guy (someone posted on here suggesting two good Bond girls, with Bond ending up in bed with both of them at the end, I love that idea).
I can't wait. Someone better send that suggestion into Babs immediately (or the Wilsons). After Atomic Blonde, I don't see why it should be a problem, as Bond has always been known to push the barrier on these matters.

Yes, I think you're right. We'll probably have to endure a bit more angst just for a little while longer to close out this chapter. Hope it's worth it.

I'm okay with it really. I was in the same boat as you, I was really hoping for a fresh start, but I've come to terms with it. YOLT is my favourite of the novels so if they do it justice and Craig knocks me out of the park I can't really complain, that should tide me over nicely until we get a proper fresh start that's hopefully a bit more straightforward while still feeling fresh and new (not a reinvention but a fresh modern spin on the old formula, ala GE).

Kate Beckinsale, Milla Jovovich, the list goes on...

    Yes to both. :D
What about your wife, @MajorDSmythe? :D

Naturally, she'd also make the list. I'm trying to coax her out of retirement, but she doesn't seem interested.
Cast yourself in the role of Bond, and have the wife as the Bond Girl. That's a lifetime achievement, old boy. :D

I like that idea, I like it a lot.
@MajorDSmythe: "The name is Smythe. Dexter Smythe. I'm the man. I'm the man."
Missions Handler: "Did you tell him to say that?"
Mrs. Smythe (maiden name Love-Hewitt): "No! Well... Sort of."
    Missions Handler: "Oh, God!"

You have just brightened up a dull day.

Could Sienna Miller be a Bond girl? I'm being mostly materialistic here, because she is splendid looking. While I remember her being charming in Keen Eddie, I don't have a strong opinion of her as an actress.

Heh, not while Craig is still Bond. Don't need the drama.

I could sort of see that. It would be especially funny if they'd never met each other over the course of the movie and then after a standard wrap up scene it cuts to a post coital scene of the three of them in bed sipping champagne. Sounds like something Moore would have done, if they could have gotten away with it back then (although the way I described it there wouldn't be an actual sex scene so they probably could've)

What if Bond WAS the girl? Think about it, it would be very progressive! Taylor Swift would make an excellent Bond.

Sure. A schoolgirl picking up on the identity of a male professional veteran 00-agent who has been in the Royal Navy and the Special Boat Service. She'd make an excellent Bond for utmost certainty. I can imagine she would also do the theme song and sing about herself and all the Bond Girls she could have... had and lost...

    Very progressive alright.

I watched "My Cousin Vinney" last night and I had forgotten how fantastic (in every way) Marisa Tomei was. She is now 52 and looks stunning in recent shots from last year. She can play very strong characters and I could see some good verbal jousting between her and DC. (are we overdue a decent Bond girl from the USA?) Thoughts?

You know what, I would be open to seeing more older Bond Girls. Monica Bellucci was criminally underused. EON can make up for that mistake by casting Mira Sorvino next time around.

Shoot, cast both Sorvino and Tomei. I'd watch that Bond.

Monica Bellucci Looked too old for Spectre.

Stephanie Sigman should have played Bellucci's or Marlohe's role. She was underused.
    She's Stunning. Great smile.

Based on just her appearance in that movie she is still one of the hottest Bond Girls of all time.

Suggestion. I see a lot of well known actresses and a lot of American models. Given Bond's history I would say mention girls mid 20s and older. Not just for Craig but future Bond films. Mainly foreign and English actresses?

She'd be great. It may happen one day.
  • It's tricky, though - after Monica Bellucci, where do you go? She's practically the definition of that type of woman.

One thing seems for sure, to me - after Eva, Olga, Berenice, and Lea, B25 won't be going for a 'blonde bombshell' or a pretty young socialite. Craig's women have all been a bit different, a bit Euro - very attractive, all, but not in a conventional way.

I used to think so, but forget it, she is a feminist. She would probably want to be Bond, rather than the Bond Girl.

Also emphasis on this time, all previous Bond girls have after all been brainless bimbos running around in their underwear.

What's wrong with women running in their underwear?
  • Obviously, I don't know the details of the female characters in Bond 25 but could I suggest that South African actress, Jodi Balfour is worthy of serious consideration. She gave a wonderful moody performance as a London DI in BBC's 'Rellik' that has just completed a 6 week run.
