I think it was mainly down to the cast being available; Jude Law has been rather busy these past few years, and RDJ's had a lot of time taken up with all the superhero movies.
Charlize Theron has officially confirmed that Atomic Blonde 2 is happening.

Escape Plan 2: Hades, starring Sylvester Stallone and Dave Bautista, will be released on Blu Ray/DVD on June 29, 2018. A trailer is expected to be released soon.
Now, if we could only hear news that Red Sparrow 2 will be greenlighted as well, I'd be over the moon.
I see. Here's hoping his career as a star survives the inevitable end of his tenure as Iron Man. He's one of the best stars working today.
Keanu Reeves... John Wick: Chapter 3...
I'm ready.
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are confirmed to return for the 3rd installment of Bill & Ted, titled Bill & Ted Face The Music.

Mel Gibson has chosen Mark Wahlberg for the lead role in his upcoming WW2 film set on the Pacific front, Destroyer.
It will Wahlberg's 5th recent true-story film, after Lone Survivor, Patriots Day, Deepwater Horizon and All the Money in the World.
Edgar Ramirez and Pedro Pascal will star in Wasp Network.
The plot: Wasp Network is the unbelievable true story of Cuban spies in American territory during the ’90s which reveals the tentacles of a terrorist network based in Florida with ramifications in Central America and with the consent of the US government.

Burt Reynolds, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen and Kurt Russell join the cast of Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time In Hollywood, already starring Leonardo Dicaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie.
All three of these announcements are great news for me!
The upcoming big screen adaptation of The Six Billion Dollar Man, starring Mark Wahlberg in the lead role, has lost its director, Damian Szifron, due to 'creative differences'.
But it seems they already have a replacement lined up for directing duties in the person of Mel Gibson, who Wahlberg has already been advocating to join the cast in the role of Oscar Goldman, the government mentor of Colonel Steve Austin. Not forgetting Gibson has recently chosen Wahlberg in the lead role for his WW2 film Destroyer.
Happy about the Gibson/Wahlberg WW2 film and especially about Burt Reynolds being on Tarantino's next film.
Margot Robbie confirmed she'll be playing Sharon Tate in the film, too. Great cast for Tarantino's ninth.
New still from Lars Van Trier's The House That Jack Built:
Looking moody and intense.

Never seen any of those. Good films?
Absolutely not!
Don't listen to @Thunderfinger he just doesn't have good taste ;)
These films are something I grew up watching so it's easy for me to love them and still enjoy them from time to time. If I were to watch them for the first time as an adult, I can't say that I would like them as much. They are very goofy and cheesy, but fun.
1st trailer for Shane Black's The Predator to be available tomorrow.
Some divided opinions, here! Do like a bit of goofiness though, so might have to check those films out!
