One week is forgivable. A month however? That'd be rather disastrous... for the wait, of course.

@ClarkDevlin I think they want to take advantage of being a big-budget action/adventure film with an August release date, Guardians of the Galaxy showed in 2014 there's big money to be made there.

Indeed. August is generally a good month to release action blockbusters.

I enjoyed the original Predator when it came out, the second not at all. Not sure what to think of this yet.

I loved the first two and didn't mind Predators from a decade or so back.

This looks decent to me. I'll be there on day one. The issue, I feel, is the uncharismatic actors they have in the lead. Olivia Munn is a killer choice but the guys seem like forgettable cardboard to me.

This is a series which was established with the testosterone fueled charisma of the great Arnie in his prime, not to mention Carl Weathers and others. These film makers seem to have forgotten that.

Olivia Munn is one of the more questionable choices to me; her playing a shoehorned love interest/scientist, and she's not even good at acting (though I feel this'll be one of the lesser issues the film has).

Doesn't look as bad as I anticipated from the test screening reviews, but I doubt I'll rush to see it, either. All I know is if Arnold Schwarzenegger is turning down a cameo/role due to a bad script, there's a problem.

Just to be clear, I wasn't commenting on Munn's acting when endorsing her. I agree that it's questionable. Rather, she has other attributes which I find palatable and even highly appealing. Yvonne Strahovski (who's in it too) also gets my thumbs up.

I didn’t even notice Strahovski is also in it. I like her in The Handmaid’s Tale.

I feel that they missed a trick in not having Thomas Jane play a bigger part. He seems to be a supporting player here. I like Boyd Holbrook but it would have been much cooler to have an ex-Punisher taking on a Predator.

As for the rest, well, it looks "fine". At least it isn't a CGI-shitfest. The Beasts look suitably beastly and I hope we're in for some nice combat stuff.

I am worried about Black's tendency to indulge in comedy in his films. It works for buddy flicks and in the Marvel universe, but I really don't know if the slapstick dialogue will gel well with the expected Predator tone. The trailer also badly needed a money shot that never really happened. Just something utterly badass to seal the deal.

    Approaching with cautious optimism.

@CraigMooreOHMSS, @bondjames, if it has bits of Black´s trademark comedy, that could be an important factor to make it work with this rather uncharismatic cast.
I´m hoping for a film that saves budget on big names and instead spends money on the predator. Although, how expensive can that be?

    Looks bad.

The only good Predator movies are the first two.

But I do agree. There is something about Olivia Munn, that excites me.

Sometimes this film is on, others it's not. Let's see if it actually happens. And I hope Martin Lawrence's role isn't "castrated" like in the last film. He is one of the leads, give him his due!

Oh and regarding The Predator, in case you didn't know, they talked to actors like Bradley Cooper and Benicio del Toro for the lead role of Quinn McKenna (great name!). Cooper turned it down, Del Toro didn't but his schedule prevented him from taking the role.

Yes, a bit of humour can elevate it. I'm just hoping there's not too much slapstick.

At least it looks like they've put a guy in a suit for most of it. The Predators look pretty good.

I agree. I'm generally a fan of Black's writing so let's see what he can do. He starred in the first one didn't he? Hopefully that connection and legacy will inspire him to make the best sequel yet.

The attempts at humour are tiresome and annoying but I can see myself enjoying this on account of the stylish locations, the stunts and the action. Sort of seems like a cross between 2015's Spy and last year's The Hitman's Bodyguard.

Think some of you guys might appreciate a specific aspect of Deadpool 2 that is done better than the Mendes Bond films ;)

It´s funny you should say that. The actors didn´t do anything whatsoever for me, yet I felt kind of a good vibe due to the beautiful locations.

Deadpool is beyond me, and the less memories of Mendes are brought up the better ;-).

Re that Predator trailer: At least noone can complain he knows the whole film from the trailer already ;-).

lol alright. obviously spoilers but what I'm talking about is
they go full Bond with the use of the Celine Dion song in the film. Title sequence, use in the score and all. So brilliantly done
