This makes me think even more so,that Dan wont quit Bond after this film,he will do one more within 2 years.

When Craig thinks of playing Bond, he now wants to slash someone's writs, probably the villain's, but not his own. BTW, anyone wants him to slash Safin's writs as a nod to his previous ill funded comments? :-D

    That would be wonderful.

I wouldn’t be surprised if NTTD turns out to be his strongest effort that he would then cash his chips so to leave on a high note. I wouldn't want him running the risk of overstaying his welcome, especially if a 6th entry is less than impressive.

I certainly would have no objection to this! But Bond 26 planning/writing should already be underway if you want a quality script? Personally I think DC will only do 5 movies although I would happily be proven wrong.

Just a real shame all those wasted years between movies, as he could have equalled Sir Roger's 7 movies if not past them with an 8th film.

I hope it's fantastic of course but I doubt we'll see a Bond movie as uniformly great as Casino Royale any time soon. I would be delighted to be proved wrong.

For me SF is his best, and I'll be surprised if this turns out to be any close to that. All I ask for is just a solid cracking film.

I'm not interested in the film personally but that's a pretty solid opening for a film with a reported budget of $40 million.

I wasn't interested at all, since this is no a genre i take much interest in. But after the high praise for this film, and Ana and Daniel in particular, i will definitly check it out. Gotta support my man Daniel.

In market dominated by comic book films, car crash/chase porn franchises which I have no interest in, Knives Out will be like a hugely refreshing glass of water.

Can't say how much I'm anticipating this film, this type of story has been with my from a young age and I've been waiting for someone to breathe new life into, the fact our Dan is involved more than seals the deal.

I don't need Craig gone to realise what we won't have any more.

The guy is effortless, his natural charisma, the way he moves, there hasn't been an actor so comfortable in his own skin since Connery from the get go like Daniel.

I hope the next guy can come out the gate like Craig, even Roger took 2 films to cement his take on Bond, from the moment Craig say "yes considerably" I was convinced.

Moore's a weird one because I think he did actually come out of the gate really strongly. LALD is flawed as a film sure but I think it does confidently establish Moore's sort of Bond and gets rid of the ghost of Connery. It was just that was followed by a sort of confused regression in TMWTGG.

Maybe Maibaum was the problem? There's an interview with him where he talks about not liking Moore's style as Bond, hating LALD, and says that a lot of that stuff in the Moore films he wrote was improvised by Moore himself. So maybe he wrote the harder Connery sort of stuff into TMWTGG to try to counteract what they did in LALD.

I don't think that's too dissimilar to Craig actually. Brilliantly establishes his Bond in film one but film two feels like a bit of a confused regression (we've gone from the bitch is dead, Bond James Bond cue Bond theme, back to what still feels like an origin story) before film three returns to form and builds off film one.

I'd love to hear this interview if you can find it. In fact I love hearing everything Maibaum has to say about Bond. And you are probably correct in saying that he felt more comfortable with the edgy Bond rather than the overly humorous Bond. Though I do think Maibaum would have been a perfect scribe for Brosnan.

As for Craig, I'm a big fan but you can just tell (imo) he despises the character through every pore of his being. He's clearly doing NTTD for the money (a fact he clearly stated in the slash-my-wrist interview and is somewhat conveniently forgotten for the "taken out of context" excuse), and I really do not get a sense of enthusiasm from him at all considering this is his last hurrah. I currently don't see a general public sad that he's leaving the role, more a sense of pity because he clearly hates it.

Yes, he's professional and he will deliver a solid performance but the glint in his eye just isn't there and I feel the performance will be forced in nature, to hide his lack of enthusiasm. Obviously, I hope I am wrong but only in April can the movie address this.

Couldn't disagree more on your points about Craig's enthusiasm for the character. Most of my non-Bond fan, casual Bond watching friends think he's the best Bond and are genuinely disappointed it's going to be his last. These are people who only own the Craig films on DVD.

Here's the interview. I don't really agree with everything he has to say but it's an interesting read

    https://www.the007dossier.com/2013/05/30/richard-maibaum/

But completely disagree on Craig. The slash my wrist comment was taken out of context, he was clearly taking the piss. I think he struggles with the attention the role brings but he definitely seems to like the character. I doubt he'd get so involved if it was just a job to him, he'd just take the easy paycheck and phone it in, but he wants it to be good, so he's finding directors, getting involved in the stories, etc. I know some think he has too much power but surely that involvement at least shows he cares.

And I don't think he'd do this one if he wasn't enthusiastic. He doesn't really need the money does he. I genuinely think he wanted to do one more to go out on a high (I liked SP but the vibe I get is that he wasn't too happy with it).

For what it's worth I felt similar at one point. In the gap between SP and him saying he was doing one more I couldn't help thinking he should just make his mind up, it's a hard job but it's well paid, should be grateful etc. But then he's done interviews since going on about how much he'll miss it and how grateful he is for it and it made me realise that I was making stupid assumptions just because I was frustrated/impatient and he wasn't constantly going on about Bond in the press.

That I think is where a lot of people's issues with Craig come from. He isn't media friendly at all. He's grounded and sarcastic and doesn't like fame, and I think people mistake that for him being sick of Bond or not caring, when his performances and the effort he puts into every film show that's not true.

The logic makes no sense, on multiple fronts. First, DC has plenty of money and though we don't know why he made the comment, money is not a serious factor at all in him returning. If he hates the character, he won't do it. Furthermore, if he hates it, why put the work in at the gym? Why do stunts that could (and did) result in a serious injury? Add to this: he has a new child. You think he wants to spend time away from his wife and baby for several months to make a movie he doesn't want to make?
