I hope EON/universal will display all the entries, and not only the winners. I'd love to see some 'Roger Moore era posters style'.
  • Go back to the drawn posters. FRWL,THUNDERBALL,YOLT,DAF,LALD,TMWGG,TLD...classics. Would love this.

I'd love to see a drawn-style poster too. The thing about the Roger/Connery posters is that while we all love them, they might fall through the guidelines EoN provided.

"Don't include anything that could be interpreted as violent, sexually explicit, racist, pornographic, sexist, political, discriminating, religious, violent or offensive"

In times when everybody gets offended by everything, an on-the-nose-FYEO-style poster probably won't make it through. That being said, I don't even for a second doubt that the submissions will be amazing. All the fan art on here is ridiculously good.

One of the coolest things EON has done. I like how Craig has been front and center on the fan stuff like this and that Omaze contest.

There are so many fantastic fan posters here. To look through all of them made my day even better. Fascinating work!

Yes that’s be good: I love seeing all of them. I’m sure they’ll put a gallery up of some kind.
Really lovely idea- have any other film companies done this? I know Lucasfilm were always very good with their fans.

Should probably mention that this competition is seemingly for illustrated posters only - they're not even allowing stills/framegrabs from the films!

Where have you read that? I can't see any mention of that. They say you can't use stock images or stuff copyrighted by a third party but I can't see anything about images from the 007 films.

I took that and 'your own original work' to mean including images from the 007 films too, since EON etc are a third party to Talenthouse that is running this comp. Likenesses of the characters etc are allowed, but aside from the 007 'stamp' thing, must be an original illustration.

The fact they, unlike other such contests, didn't provide any official asset packs like logos, stills etc to use is telling here...

Or photos provided by the creator, one would imagine.

I don’t know, I think that might be a bit of a leap. They could certainly clarify what ‘third party’ means in this case, but personally I wouldn’t take it to include Eon’s property. I actually wouldn’t use any photography anyway, looking at their mood board, but I don’t think they specify that you can’t.

I don’t think it’s even specifically a NTTD poster, is it? I’m on a phone so I’ve navigated away from the page.

Can't see any mention of NTTD specifically. A general poster most likely:
Create a unique, eye-catching and undeniably Bond poster. Be inspired by the Daniel Craig films, and celebrate the design legacy of Bond.

Yeah interesting isn’t it? They certainly seem to want a nod towards that 60s slightly pop art-ish brightly coloured style rather than, say, the full paintings of the 70s, judging by the mood board. And it’s just for CraigBond in general and not NTTD, as you say.

I should probably mention that, as awesome as this competition looked at first - especially in light of EON having never really done this before, there’s been quite a bit of backlash about the terms and conditions - more specifically, MGM retaining the rights to all submissions, regardless if they’ve won/been selected. Especially with people not being allowed to share them on their own channels until closer to the film’s release. Currently comes off as the studio just looking for free work - with the current T&Cs they could use any non-winning submission without compensating the artist.

And have you seen the list of countries not allowed to enter? Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Quebec, Canada, China, Denmark, Ecuador, Italy, Greece, Kenia, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Venezuela, North Corea, Crimea, Cuba, Iran, Siria or Sudán... @-)

To be honest I would have expected all of those conditions. If you’re using their intellectual property and then showing them then it’s pretty understandable that they’d want to own that. And not sharing them online seems reasonable too; they want to show these off and there’s no point if they’re already all available elsewhere. I don’t really see the problem, and the conditions seem entirely expected to me.
It’s not really free work because there’s not really any purpose to it beyond the competition- other than to display on a website lots of people will look at alongside the artist’s name: so basically giving them exposure. For free. The bastards! :D
No one is being forced to enter.

It really is! I guess if the contest was for NTTD artwork only, they would have received a lot of artwork based on the same imagery. With a very open brief like this, you might see a greater span of artwork. The moodboard was quite varied too – although (as you mention), there's a lack of full painting style artwork. Might be intentional, might not be.

Nop. Lacked punch. That gatling guns scene at the end of the original is gold. And the music of the original trailer is top notch.

Yes, them not supplying any material forces people to do a bit of work finding suitable content for the poster.
