  • Breaking: Hans Zimmer confirmed as new 'No Time to die' Bond film composer

    https://www.classicfm.com/composers/zimmer/hans-hired-no-time-to-die-james-bond-score/

The legendary film composer will be taking over from Dan Romer as a last-minute replacement – just three months before the Bond movie is set to be released.

The score to the new Bond film No Time To Die will now be produced by Hans Zimmer.

Zimmer, who has been drafted in as a last-minute replacement, is taking the reins from composer Dan Romer who was originally set to score the film.

The announcement was confirmed yesterday (13 January) by producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, in an official statement on the movie’s website.

Director of the latest instalment, Cary Joji Fukunaga, said: “I’m beyond excited that Hans is scoring No Time To Die. The music of Bond has always been iconic and I’ve already witnessed Hans adding his touch of genius to the Bond legacy.”

Read more: No Time To Die: what’s the music in the new Bond film and when is it released? >

According to Variety, the Beasts of No Nation composer was dismissed over “creative differences” with the film’s production company, Eon Productions, last month.

We’re sure the score to the highly-anticipated action movie is in safe hands with Zimmer, whose track record in cinematic music includes the instantly recognisable sounds of the Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator and The Da Vinci Code.

But taking on this job is no small task, especially considering Zimmer is already scoring three big movies this year – Wonder Woman 1984, Dune and Top Gun: Maverick.

Read more: Hans Zimmer: we reveal the film composer’s movies, net worth and albums >

Zimmer is an 11-time Oscar nominee, who won the Best Score award in 1994 for The Lion King.

Back in 2015 we spoke to Daniel Craig, ahead of the release of Spectre, about the importance of music throughout the Bond franchise – particularly when it comes to those iconic motifs.

“It’s so emotive that sound, and if you use it at the right point in the movie then everyone remembers, ‘Yes, we’re in a Bond movie.’”

We’re excited to see what Zimmer produces in this latest instalment – especially considering he’s got less than three months to do it.

Like your name sake says, @Safin_Unmasked, @Contraband will survive long after you're gone.

Which I imagine will be shortly. Weren't you leaving to focus on your mental health because the internet was stressing you out? Maybe its time to make good on that promise.

Who did those fotos for EW, and why did they mashup Fox Mulder into Graig's face?

Hear hear. Craig is my favourite, but those photos are definitely ... off.
  • Does anyone know when a trailer is coming out?
And does anyone think the theme song will be weaved into the score.

Hope you enjoy your long happy life watching @Contraband post paparazzi photos of Rachel Weisz walking the Craig family dog and saying "This photo of Lea Seydoux on a balcony is damn grainy. Does anyone have a link to a damn hi res copy. Someone answer me damn it."

Relax @Minion I have no "Quarrel" with you... yOU are among freinds here chap...

I do think the theme song will be woven in. Billie and Hans have been working together for a couple of months already. I don't know about the trailer, but I think @antovolk would be first to know.

"Bond is lured back into the spy game by his old CIA pal Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright), who asks him for help rescuing a kidnapped scientist (David Dencik from Top of the Lake). This leads Bond to Cuba and onto the trail of Malek’s mysterious Safin. “He’s really a mean old thing,” says Broccoli of the villain. In the movie’s trailer, Safin also appears to have facial scarring. “Let’s just say that there are some immense challenges [he] has faced in his life,” says Malek. In addition to Bond, Swann, and Leiter, other returning characters include Ralph Fiennes’ M, Naomie Harris’ Moneypenny, Ben Whishaw’s Q, Rory Kinnear’s Tanner, and Christoph Waltz’s SPECTRE chief Ernst Stavro Blofeld, whose life Bond spared at the end of the last installment. “Blofeld is in Belmarsh Prison,” says Broccoli. “[But] he’s actually communicating to the SPECTRE agents.”

This does confirm that David Dencik is playing the kidnapped scientist and Blofeld is still communicating with Spectre agents. Especially the part in Havana.

    Thank you EW!!!!!!!!

Could he tell you the name of the first chapter of The Man From Barbarossa? Does he know how much of TMWTGG was photographed by Ted Moore and how much was photographed by Oswald Morris?

    I can.

One can dream. I won't engage further to the relief of everyone I'm sure.

I wonder if Omaze will do an "attend the premiere of NTTD with Daniel Craig" or something this time around, love their stuff.

I know the one trailer is out; I mean the next one ... longer one, @NickTwentyTwo .

Yeah, Safin Unmasked guy is a troll and at this point he doesn't really care, just goads and instigates to get his kicks. He'll keep pushing his crap. Best to ignore and let the mods deal with him.

I thought Safin asked this? That's who I was responding to.

I wonder if the second trailer will be longer, the first one already seems quite long to me but I'm not sure of industry standards for this sort of thing.

  • A sensible perspective @Birdleson. Both parties need to wind it back in - I will do my part and bow out of this, and hope other posters up their game and we see a more focused, streamlined thread that's useful to our readers.

My focus now is on making No Time to Die the best Bond yet :)

Love this new shot of Safin in Cuba (?) with CJF. He’ll be a very compelling villain I think, comparable with Bardem’s Silva.

@NickTwentyTwo they have pine trees in cuba? I think it's the Norway sequence.

If there was no Madeline (in other words, no apparent heavy-handed tie into Bond's past again) and there hadn't been all the "me too" talk (which puts the female 00 footage in a negative light, to me), I would be completely excited about what I'm seeing on screen so far. But SP burned me so bad that those things are keeping me from embracing the film fully. If Madeline turns out to be a villain and the chick 00 gets killed, all of my fears will have been for naught.

I very much doubt that is going to happen so your fears will be multiplied.

Personally I'm not bothered but I've immensely enjoyed this era apart from SPECTRE (which I dislike hugely like you).

I really can't see that happening with Madeline, it is going to be more complex than that and killing off Nomi, also unlikely.

I know you don't like this direction but I feel that maybe you'll like it more than SP but it isn't going to be a favourite.

I would hope that the next era pleases you more, I really disliked the PB era and wasn't overly impressed with Moore's so we can't always love them all.

I believe none of this will happen. Swann turned in “villain” sounds just nonsensical. One thing is having dark secrets hidden in the past, another thing is being a secret villain throwing out of the window how the character was presented in the previous one. Anyway let’s see. Nomi dying doesn’t sound quite likely, but I don’t see the point of putting so much weight on her living or dying in the film. She won’t ever return to the franchise, what’s the point of being worried about that.

If that happens, NTTD would be guilty of plotting even lazier than anything SP threw at us.

Don't know what to make of this new film, TBH. The excitement for me just isn't there like it should be. I am still looking forward to it because its a new Bond film after all these years.

However I find myself disliking much of what news or tit-bits we're getting: from the plot to the running time. Other aspects like the score and theme song artist I'm neutral about. Craig looks alright, the colors look alright, and the trailer is just okay for me. The original poster was okay.

In addition the vibe on the NTTD threads seems very negative and hostile.

I'm still hoping to be pleasantly surprised by the final film and my reservations prove to be off.

I'm also hoping my hunch is wrong that NTTD will be the last new Bond film we get for quite some time. Perhaps MGM and Universal will fast track the next film when NTTD proves to be a stellar success?

Looks like the same forest where Bond fails to protect Madeleine. Where we see him running and watching the helicopter flying away. The finale, I believe, will be most likely set at Safin’s liar...

Might be a stretch, but this shot combined with what we know from the trailer gives me a “Most Dangerous Game” vibe.

Wow. What I want is just her character to be genuine. I don’t want Nomi to be a Time’s Up breathing/shooting manifesto. Her character is the only element of this film I’m worried about.

I’m sure that’s a joke but, c’mon. That’s the sort of thing that gets reported elsewhere as ‘fan reaction’ and makes us all look bad.
