Don't worry. Black market copies will flood through before too long. No way they will keep this completed film under wraps for 7 more months.

Not necessarily true. WW84’s production wrapped in the Summer of 2019 with a release in June 2020. Nothing has leaked.

Why would you want to hurt the film by hoping for black market copies anyway?

Didn't the cast go on graham Norton for MI; fallout before the film was finished because Cruise broke his ankle? And I'm pretty sure they went on again when the film was finished. So circumstances change and that movie did alright.

I think they'd started filming again after he had recovered (as much as he did recover!) when they all went on Norton: it was pretty weird to be honest and Chris McQuarrie said he was a bit baffled that his cast had all gone on the telly because he was trying to shoot the movie! :D
I think that was on the Empire podcast interview he did- I can't recommend it enough, incidentally: he's very candid.
I don't think they did go back on when the movie got released: I was expecting them to too but I'm pretty sure they didn't. You're right though: that's a good example of unconventionally early promotion for a film.
The title of the film has officially been changed to:

    NO TIME TO RELEASE

Sounds like a Frankie Goes To Hollywood song.

Okay that's the funniest comment I've read on here this week. Well done!

Well said. I cannot tolerate people who think stealing a film and making pirate copies for criminal profit is okay. Shows no respect for the filmmakers and it is outright theft. No doubt there will be attempts to pirate NTTD, but Eon and Universal will very strongly protect and guard the film - so let's hope the lowlife criminals fail. Unlike Burgess, who seems to want it to happen. What kind of Bond fan is that?

I don't. I've never watched a black market copy of any film ever. But these leaks happen all the time. Your example of WW84 is encouraging though.

If you look at the corona virus logically the stats suggest or prove we're all experiencing mass hysteria.

    As of today...

Cases in the UK 116. Population of the UK 66. 4 million.

Statistically speaking got more chance of winning the lottery and the Loch Ness monster mugging you for your ticket before you claim the prize than getting corona virus.

Cases in China 80,000. Population 1.3 billion.

Total deaths from corona virus: 3,410

    Recovered: 55,991

Population of Earth 7. 8 billion. Number of people dead from corona virus: 3,410

We are experiencing mass hysteria, over-the-top media reporting. I'm not wishing to downplay the virus, but three thousand deaths from a population of over seven billion is not a pandemic, it's just the natural way of things, people get viruses and some, sadly, die, but it's not a reason for the newspapers to go into 'hysteria' mode, it's not a reason for people to think the world is about to end. And it's not a compelling reason to delay NTTD but hey, money comes first, right! We need China to help Bond in the same way the UK needs China for its 5g network. Those pesky Chinese! :P

Not sure if this is the right thread for this but could be big news.
    Google News:
Daniel Craig is reportedly reconsidering his previous claim that No Time To Die would be his last James Bond film and may return for a sixth installment. The actor, 52, has reportedly told his PR team not to market the film as his last outing as 007, despite previously claiming he was done with the action franchise.15 hours ago

With Harrison Ford getting close to 80 and back for more Indiana Jones... who knows, Craig may follow his lead and be Bond for twenty more years or so. Oh boy. :P

Every single bit of medical and science journalism being done is finding that the number of cases in countries like the US is systematically underreported because there are either not enough tests, tests aren't being done on everybody who qualifies, and/or health officials are falling behind on where the infection is. Literally just last night an infected individual was found in Toronto, having arrived recently from -- wait for it -- Las Vegas, where in the past two weeks there were eight major industry conventions at six different hotels and conference sites. Think about how many people touch poker chips at those casinos, think about how many people walk through restaurant buffets, think about how many people travel through that airport on a daily and weekly basis since Las Vegas is one of the major tourist and business hubs for the entire country and continent. Now think about the fact that US health officials have not even begun to ask INCOMING passengers where they've been in the previous weeks (people have reported flying in from Italy, Korea and China and not being screened at all in the US compared to screenings and quarantines in every other country), and have not begun to try to limit internal travel to contain the spread. Now think about the fact that getting Covid-19 does not prevent you from getting it again, which means that multiple waves of this virus could circle the earth in upcoming months, and also think about the fact that autopsy results out of Wuhan are finding that victims are being left with scarring in their lungs, which suggests that survivors are at higher risk of dying if they were to catch it again later on, which means that the actual mortality rate is still in flux.

This is not mass hysteria. This is the nightmare scenario that public health officials have been trying to prepare for for years, and it doesn't take a PhD like I have to realize that if they're worried, you should be too.

As perhaps Jack Ryan, not Bond. But that's just silly, moreover, it's fake news. Craig has been very clear numerous times, it's his finale. Let's leave it at that.

Maybe bring Boyle back?? I would fully support a Danny Boyle Bond film I just didn't want him to do this one because there were reports he wanted a standalone film and I preferred them to wrap up the Spectre arc.

He will never get the gig again, as his ideas were far too outlandish for Bond. Sometimes it just doesn't match, so it's for the better.

Peter Jackson was considered for TWINE. Barbara liked Jackson's 'Heavenly Creatures', but changed her mind when she saw 'The Frighteners'....Eon have turned down some good Directors, coz of 'Creative Differences'.

The source of that is an article in The Sun, so forgive me for absolutely not believing a word of that.
Today's Total Film's issue with interviews with Craig, Broccoli and Fukunaga repeatedly makes the point that this is the conclusion, this is his last Bond film.
And indeed, the marketing was at first not very much focused on 'This is the last chapter', and Craig was less definitive in his answer on the press day in Jamaica. But during the further promotion of NTTD it's been made clear: this is his last. Fukunaga was pretty definitive in that director's vlog video, and even BB herself went from 'We might ask him back' in Jamaica to 'I find it hard to grasp, but I think this is it' to 'We have to move on after this'.

    The TF article said:
Bond and Madeline reunite at a "safehouse" in Norway, which seems to be the cabin from the PTS, then they are "rudely" interrupted by a sudden appearance from Safin (guessing this is the scene in the song trailer where we see Safin sitting in what seems to be the same room as Madeline). This turns into the massive car chase with Safin commanding his private army from a helicopter. Then this turns into an "eerie" foot chase in the woods.

If that foot chase is anything like the finale of True Detective S1 we are in for a hell of a treat from Cary.

I wonder if this is before or after the assault on Safin's base and how it all fits together

  • New article from the Guardian about the pressures facing global cinema:
MGM’s decision to delay the release of the Bond film was applauded by many, despite a potential $50m bill to cover logistics – as well as costs and share falls for the many sponsors whose tie-in campaigns have already begun.

Momentum was built by the release of Billie Eilish’s theme song last month, as well as a $4.5m Super Bowl advert, that will be chalked up to long-lead brand awareness. Had MGM stuck to its original date, estimates suggest that there would be a minimum 30% reduction to a global box-office take that was anticipated to top $1bn.

In earmarking an alternative window quickly, the studio has bought dominance over a key date in the cinema-going calendar – No Time to Die opens in the US over Thanksgiving weekend – while the seven-month hiatus allows time to redraw plans.

“That feels like a safe amount of breathing room,” said a source close to the production. “Tentpole movies live or die on large audiences going out of their houses and watching them in cinemas with hundreds of other people. Right now, nobody wants to do that.”

“In China infections seem to have peaked but you can’t see them opening cinemas before June,” said another industry insider, “nor people being keen to go for a while after that. Add three months for the rest of the world and November starts looking very attractive.”

Widespread cinema closures across China, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan and South Korea have already done drastic damage to the global box office, with one consulting firm suggesting that the loss during China’s new year holiday alone amounts to around $1bn. ...

Bond’s distributors did not directly mention coronavirus in their Wednesday statement, instead saying that the decision had been taken after “careful consideration and thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace”.

Two-thirds of the money made by Bond movies comes from outside the US, with east Asia increasingly courted by Hollywood producers.
