Just found the solution to the iTunes issue btw, restarted my Macbook now, and the downloads seems to start as they should. Don't know the reason of the issue though. Hope it's not a returning one, as I'd hate to miss an episode!

The one about the forum will be number 0014... and I suspect it will take a while to edit. In the meantime, catch up on all the others. I found them fun and informative.

Love the podcast, but how come there wasn’t one this week?

I'm assuming the editing was more difficult than usual... Lots of talkers doing lots of talking. And a few conversations that will have to be cut totally, I'm sure. :P

All week I've been sending the editing team....

Although I loved James Bond and his world. It was the motley crew of members in this forum that kept me coming back.

It warms my heart to see @St_George @retrokitty back in full force.

    You're too kind, @thedove; sank-you, sank-you!

And, as @retrokitty said above, I'd urge those yet to do so to catch up on all the podcasts on the main site. They're highly informative and lots of fun. Like being in a room with friendly, respected Bond experts - quite literally! :)

Maybe one day us 'foot soldier' mods will get a bite at the cherry. We must have written tens of thousands of words about Bond on these forums. We could spill the beans on the controlled chaos behind the scenes. ;)

Doing better this era of forum than last if you can keep it all behind the scenes. :D

I hope you are doing well, Nic.

The new podcast is out... And it looks to be amazing. Awesome topics and guests....

Keep in mind, this is not the episode that called for Spamwich Time and old forum peeps. However, and lucky for you, on first listen this appears to provide some great Bond topics and gender diversity!

None of us will be surprised if our podcast was impossible to edit. :P

But I've been listening to them all since and really looking forward to this one over the weekend.

"Have the recent Daniel Craig films regressed in their representation of women?

This week we tackle the topic of diversity, representation of women and minority characters in Bond films, welcoming a new guest Associate Professor Lisa Funnell. We round out by discussing the curious appearance of an Aston Martin in Norway for Bond 25 and answering some listener questions. Along the way we muse on the times when James Bond’s licence to kill was inappropriately used, the fine distinction between murder and manslaughter, why academics find Bond fascinating, how to lose your tenure, when imitating Bond is a good thing, pitfalls of a choose-your-own Bond adventure, villains you root for, and killing Madeleine Swann."

I've finally caught up with listening to all the podcasts and I very much look forward to hearing more down the road.

I loved the latest topic of cracking a modern LIVE AND LET DIE adaptation as the follow up to Craig's CASINO ROYALE. Had EON chose to go that route, I think a good casting for Buonapart Ignace Gallia (aka BIG) would have been Michael Clarke Duncan, as he was not only a good actor but would have had the right kind of presence and charisma for a main villain. I definitely would have gone the Mankiewicz route of casting an African-American actress, and I think Zoe Saldana would have been splendid.

I think you guys should definitely do more discussions of adapting the Fleming novels for Craig's run in order with MOONRAKER. It's interesting how the first batch of Fleming's novels were never really faithfully adapted for the films back in the day (LALD, MR, DAF). It's not until FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE that you suddenly come across a book that was already faithfully adapted, but given how much the geopolitics have changed since publication it would be interesting to figure out how to do those stories reimagined for the modern era.

I have really enjoyed all the episodes and this last one was no different. I have been able to crib some of these episodes for my "what if" thread.

It was brought up on the last episode that Alicia Keys wasn’t too happy with “Another Way to Die”, is there any source on that? I’d like to read comments on it because I don’t think anyone in EON or anyone in any official capacity ever brought up that song since 2008. It feels like one of those Bond songs that nobody wants to talk about in retrospect.

Just stumbled upon this thread and hoping to revive. Has anyone done the watch-alongs? I have done the DN, DAD, and MR ones. I am not sure the LTK will be as enjoyable as I am not a fan of that movie as a whole.

I find this podcast to be a real struggle to get through nowadays. Everyone involved is so cynical and negative. Bring back Joe Darlington and Mark O Connell!

I like Bill Koeing. Not sure if I am spelling his last name correctly. Calvin is also pretty positive most of the time. But yes the negativity does creep out!

I find that refreshing, actually. It keeps the podcast from degenerating into fanboy crap.

One of the more recent episodes had a guest (some Twitter influencer who appears occasionally) inquiring about the Daniel Craig Bond documentary that was supposed to be released before NTTD. One of the MI6 guys -- I think it was James Page -- said that it probably consists of Craig's test footage followed by an hour of people saying that he's the best Bond. I nearly fell off my chair laughing.

For You Eyes Only watchalong is now live with guest commentary from the awesome Mark O’Connell filling in for yours truly, and we just wrapped up on GoldenEye today (albeit with one or two technical difficulties meaning David and I dropped out for about a third of it!)

GE is up now! I keep hoping a Connery wins and we see a great film. I like GE but after watching Pierce's watchalong I don't think there will be much to add. I hope I am proved wrong.

I’ll pass on it. I recall the podcast commenting on Pierce’s GE watchalong. It was pretty much along the lines of “It was terrible, he needed a moderator. I must add, I didn’t watch it. Can’t stand Brosnan.”
It was exhausting to listen to them moan.

That’s a shame. Calvin and I are big fans of GE and I felt that (despite a few technical issues which meant David and myself were cut out for a while) it was a good session.
I very much like Brosnan as Bond, and this is, IMO, his best. Are we critical of his performance at times? Sure. Do we occasionally laugh at it? Absolutely, but good-naturedly.
It’s a shame you’ve not enjoyed the podcasts because of perceived cynicism, but I’d try to bear in mind that MI6 has been providing exclusive Bond news, a magazine, and this forum out of their own pockets for 20yrs. If all at MI6 were really so cynical they wouldn’t spend hours of their time and invest their own money to have a news site, forum, podcast etc. provided to fans for free.

It's a tough spot @doubleonothing if you are too critical you get people saying that you are too cynical. If you say nothing but positive you will get people saying you are being too "fanboy". Remember that those that post negative comments are usually watching or listening so that they can add their negative comments. There was a radio broadcaster in my city who said he loved his haters because they were more likely to tune in and listen.

    @thedove yeah, I hear you.
It’s worth remembering we give up usually 3 hrs of our time to record these, then someone has to edit them, which can take a few hours as well. We don’t get paid to do this; we do it because we want to. And having looked behind the curtain of Bond for the last 10 years or so, I might have a degree of cynicism about it, but that doesn’t take away from my love of the films or diminish the value of the insights that experience has afforded me.
I personally enjoy doing the podcasts and I hope the majority of people enjoy listening.

Some people just hone in on the supposed negative comments. I feel it's balanced and enjoy the banter on the podcast with interesting trivia and some new thoughts and ideas thrown in. While some ideas seem like looking for intent or meaning when it's not there it's interesting to view things from a different angle.

    Keep it up ;-)

Despite all the negative comments, I feel it comes from a place of love.

You and the rest of the JB&F crew do a great job. I appreciate the differences in opinion. During the QOS watchalong I noticed that at least three of the viewers clearly weren't fans (that's putting it nicely), but I found their critical comments insightful and (intentionally) funny even though I love that movie and consider it Craig's second best Bond adventure.

I feel like the diehard Brosnan and Craig fans (the latter of whom are often insufferable) want only praise of their idols -- basically "fall in line," which is a silly and boring route to go down, especially on a podcast.
