Good list. Though i must watch Lost In Translation one of these days...
I finally checked it out earlier this year and it really is as good as all the praise and admiration says. Painfully beautiful and emotional but fun and evokes a lot of beauty in Japan, even if it takes place heavily inside a hotel.
Thank you @Creasy47! Much appreciated :)
As for OP, in an attempt at being honest to myself I had to admit it is one of my very favourite films so there you go ;) Glad you liked its inclusion.
Hell of a list, @MayDayDiVicenzo - Nice to see my top two in and amongst your top 70. I haven’t seen at least 52 on there, with the other 18 accounting for those I have seen!
And Withnail and I is instantly quotable.
1. THE BIG SLEEP (1946)
2. THE MALTESE FALCON (1941)
3. OUT OF THE PAST (1947)
4. BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1935)
5. DRACULA (1958)
6. ED WOOD (1994)
7. SLING BLADE (1996)
8. CASABLANCA (1942)
9. SUDDEN IMPACT (1983)
10. THE BLACK CAT (1934)
…perhaps you can explain the plot of the Big Sleep to me.
….just kidding, it is one of my all-time favorites as well. :))
Oddly, even though the '45 pre-release version is more coherent, I prefer the regular more confusing edit. LOL
IIRC, given their new relationship the revised edit was done to play up the "Bogie and Bacall" angle.
Great list BTW.
Thanks! Yes. Charles K Feldman suggested to Warners they film more scenes of rapport between Bogie and Bacall. She was getting slaughtered for her performance in CONFIDENTIAL AGENT.
