    A fine lady.

How many local heroes like that do we pass on the street each day. Or on this board.

Not as Tarzan, but as a villain. Close enough, right ?

The local cinema would show lots of old Tarzan movies and I saw both as a kid. This must be where the confusion stemmed from.

Just heard this, what an absolutely devastating and monumental loss that is. Plummer was such a legend in so many ways. Oldest actor to win an Oscar, though, and he lived a very active 91 years. RIP to a real star.

He had a great career too--worked almost up to the end, and in plum roles. Knives Out could be considered his send-off.

RIP Sir Christopher Plummer. First film I remember was the Francoi Zeffirelli TV movie JEUS OF NAZARETH. I also liked him in TRIPLE CROSS (Direcetd by Terence Young), THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, WOLF (my first movie I watched at the Odeon Leicester Square), INSIDER and INSIDE MAN. And of course KNIVES OUT. But he lived a long life and was acting almost up to his end.

I see what you did there with the Sir Charles Phantom reference. Props to you as it gave me a smile.

I always appreciated Plummer, not a high-profile star but one with a real understated presence. He gave me a real Bond vibe as Sir Charles in Return of the Pink Panther. There's a moment where he, or presumably, scales a wall to escape pursuers and taking a moment to dance with a belly dancer during the chase, and it was very cool as a kid as was his enjoying breakfast in bed with the lovely Catherine von Schell while being held at gunpoint.

Several years ago, I stumbled across Triple Cross, having never heard of it, and it also gave me a Bond feeling that Plummer should've been considered for the role. I was surprised back then to learn he was Canadian and not British.

Ironically, almost every obit or story on his death references The Sound of Music, which he was outspoken about not being a big fan of, calling it The Sound of Mucus. But he also seemed to understand that so many people loved the film.

Sir Charles evading pursuers in Return of the Pink Panther is a good scene with excellent Mancini score playing. The Sir Charles Phantom... line by Sellers always cracks me up, Return... is one of my favorite films of the series.

Mine too. It was the first Pink Panther film I saw when it was new and I was just a young kid. I'd only seen the Pink Panther cartoon series prior to that - there was even a Pink Panther flakes cereal back then. My family were fans and I remember going to see the film in the summer of '75 and then the next two and always caught them when they played on network TV.

Back in 2019, I finally picked up the Pink Panther movie collection and Return was the first one I went to. I think I rank Return and Strikes Again about equally.

I have a soft spot for The Pink Panther and A Shot in the Dark is hilarious probably my favorite, though Return is among them for sure. I had them all on VHS back in the day, I had the majority of Sellers films when I was a kid.

I have the DVD box set from several years ago which did not include Return, though I have Return in HD Digital copy with a few of the other films.
