I was impress after watching The Capture https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00085sx , he plays a tough guy quite well.

    Lovely picture.

I don’t want a young Roger Moore though, nor do I want a young Sean, George, Timothy, Pierce or Daniel. I want a new James Bond all his own but that still feels like the character. And for me, Callum ain’t it.

I think I've finally found the candidate we can all agree on:

    Eh? Eh?

A South American? This is a joke right? Narcos is great, but this guy is more Sanchez than Bond.

Yes, it’s a joke, lol... I figured it would be obvious. Think there’s room to loosen up! This isn’t too serious!

I can’t tell nowadays! Ha ha. I’ve seem Tom Holland touted on FB this week. He’s the average height of an Ewok!! But the posts were dead serious.

But the difference is that Roger is handsome....he’s not an ‘Everyman.’

What about Benedict Cumberbatch? I used to think that Henry Cavil might be a good choice (I liked him in The Man From U.N.C.L.E.), but his character in Mission Impossible Fallout really got on my nerves. I kept wanting to slap him upside of his head.

Yeah I don’t think he’s geeky at all; I wasn’t blown away by his star power in The Capture but he’s not unsuited to Bond.

I think he’d make a good Lord Brett Sinclair; I could watch that!

Good actor. But a bit ‘odd looking’ rather than Bond material IMO. A bit like Callum Turner....but a better actor.

This is a wider shot of one that I posted earlier. He’s definitely in my top 3 and warrants a screentest.

Controversial opinion: Callum Turner is actually not a bad choice, he looks a bit young at the moment, but give it another five years.

We keep forgetting - Bond SHOULD be a svelte Englishman with a pleasant outward demeanour, who blends in at parties.

I guess that rules out Irishman Aidan Turner then.

That would have also ruled out every single Bond actor except Moore, Craig an maybe Dalton.

Nope. I want a good actor that just... feels right. I don’t care if he comes from UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, doesn’t matter. As long as he can play the part, we’re good.

I’d let Vincent Cassel play Bond, despite all the good reasons why he shouldn’t... he might be the most stylish man in the world.

Also a nice Bondian imagine of Richard Madden, who might be my frontrunner at this point:

    Brosnan vibes.

Cassel would make an excellent spy from France as a Bond contact or an equally excellent villain. He always brings class.

I guess Cassel is no longer an option since he's 54 now and will probably be closer to 56 when the next film starts shooting. But I would love to have him in the Bonds as another spy, the villain, ... He's a great and classy actor.

I know that some people laugh, and yes you can dig up photos of him dressed in some pretty flamboyant outfits, but don’t rule out Harry Styles; he’s got charisma to spare, is the age and hight . He’s steadily building a solid acting resume, mainly in supporting roles, and would bring in younger fans.

Might have been a cool Mathis! Wouldn’t trade away Giancarlo Giannini though.

He might get there in a few years time, but I think the timing works against him here. He needs more roles to solidify his reputation as an actor, than someone who solely acts would need to be positioned for Bond, if that makes sense.
What I am trying to say is a well received smaller role in a huge film (Dunkirk) and then 2 leads in short succession, plus a solid modeling career could put somebody on the edge of contention, if the lead roles work out, he looks the part and there are no obvious arguments against him. For Styles there is the very obvious question mark whether he is interested in being Bond for 10-15 years or even longer because we can't really be sure wether he even wants to be an actor for the next 10-15 years. Plus, the public image of his personal style doesn't help (eventhough I personally don't see it as a negative) and he is quite young. So he would need to bolster his resume a bit before the decision is made and I don't think he has the time.
He could be a magnificent contender in 2030 if his career works out that way, but my personal hope is that the role is in secure hands from around 2025 to at least the middle of the 30s if not 2040...

I mean the character, not the actor necessarily.

I should have said "English Gentleman", as that conveys the idea a little better.

Someone who has a knowledge of fine things, and can weave his way through distinguished company.

I never got much charm or sophistication from Craig - it's not enough to just be a mans man. Theres more to Bond than that.

Watch "And Then There Were None" and Aidan Turner nails it, I think Callum could too.

But... Bond is Swiss Scot? You want the next characterization of Bond to be English even though the character isn’t English?

Fleming made Bond Scottish because of Sean Connery, so I'm not sure how you arrive at that conclusion.

Additionally, Skyfall solidifies cinematic Bond's parents as Andrew (Scottish) and Monique (Swiss).

Anyways, I'm mostly just taking the piss at the ridiculousness of this thread; I understand what @Mendes4Lyfe meant with his post. That's why I crossed it out.

Except that Craig era is it's own contained story and timeline. Craig never met his wife in this universe, so it doesn't necessarily carry over.

For instance, Blofeld is a childhood companion of Bond in this timeline, but I don't consider that that applies to the character in the old movies too.
