There is one tiny scene in that trailor which IMHO is crucial re character development and the direction of the movie. It surprised me to be honest

Nice to have it officially in high quality. Looks great on the big telly.

some nice references to the first movie. The gap between the MI trailers and the actual movies has been small (if anything) IMHO. Looks stunning.

Holy Shit, can't wait to see it. That motorcyle stunt, crazy. Rogue Nation and Fallout are my 2 favourites of the M:I Movies

That looks amazing, although I'm still nervous of Ilsa's fate. It does feel like we have a lot of new characters in this one

Did anybody else find the lack of sound effects towards the end of thevtrailer a bit odd?

This is one of the two Bond films that I would have liked to have seen in between QoS and Skyfall

+1. She is underrated, hopefully this will get her more exposure. I just wish we could have gotten her in Bond.

I was just thinking the same, this is a huge role for her.

Looks more promising than the last two, which I haven't watched yet but will before this one gets released. Good to see Kittridge back, and I hope they don't kill him off. They shouldn't have spoiled the bike jump, though.

More promising? They were both fantastic.

I just had an e-mail from a friend who just watched this : "we're in safe hands" - kinda sums up nicely the whole position of the franchise.

Yeah I've heard good things and have been meaning to watch them but just haven't gotten around to it. I liked MI1 and MI2, hated 3, and thought GP was okay but a bit too cartoonish for its own good, so RN and FO would have been higher-priority for me if I'd liked the previous two better.

Looks good. The music choice and lack of sound effects is odd. The fast pace cutting to slow music doesn’t really work. A faster more intense music track would be more effective.
Does anyone think the motorbike stunt and train looks a little too CGI heavy?

Both stunts were performed; any post production would involve adding environmental elements. Both look great to me.

I thought the stuff atop the train did, unfortunately.

Imagine spend your saturday to try to contain the leak trailer by issuing DMCA to every user who share it, and then publish the exact same trailer (without subtitles) less than 48h later...

There are some versions of the trailer that have subtitles still, like the Thai one. I guess they finally realized it had leaked so much and enough people saw it that it was time to release it finally. A shame, really, because I had hoped it'd be exclusively attached to the new Top Gun for a few days. There's no way I was going to be able to wait to see it in cinemas for the first time, I'm too damn impatient.

Ethan performing some sleight of hand, a possible reference to the first film?
  • edited May 2022 Posts: 4,617
so many references to the original - and that's one. Of course, our engagement with the characters is much deeper now so the emotional side of this film will be far greater.
check the scene with Ilsa in a sword fight with the villain (1.29) - dark and misty with Ethan running with a gun - same location, dark and misty - remember Ethan finding Sarah dying from a knife wound? dark and misty?

Yes I got a quick memory of MI (first film) in that part of the trailer. Overall - it looks fantastic. The MI folks have been excelling for several films now. Everyone else should consider themselves to have been schooled.
