it's a tough decision between you know my name and skyfall. no time to die is in the conversation too.

die another day is underrated. it was 10-20 years ahead of the hyperpop movement.

interestingly enough, in the Craig era, it seems like a correlation between song quality and film quality.

Skyfall was the most commercially successful, in both the song and movie. Fans love both CR and it's theme.

No Time To Die, both song and movie, are generally rated favorably.

Spectre and QOS were both his least acclaimed films and had his least acclaimed songs.

I love Die Another Day with a burning passion, but Skyfall is just so full of classic 'feeling' that I have to pick it.

I just adore You Know My Name and it fit Casino Royale like a glove. It was the perfect substitute for the Bond theme throughout the score, and Cornell's hard rock vocals suited Craig's tougher portrayal.

It'd be a toss up between You Know My Name and Skyfall for me but I think You Know My Name would win out just for the sheer energy, urgency and intensity of the vocals. It's sad that Chris Cornell is no longer with us.

You Know My Name without a doubt.
It’s my personal #10 while all the others sit at the bottom with Skyfall being the highest at #20.

For me, despite being cool on it initially, it's Skyfall too. It just works so well- it has power and style and it really soars and builds anticipation for the film.

Writing's On the Wall is bottom of the pile for me, just can't get on with it. The others all have merits I think (yes even DAD! :) ) and NTTD is probably the most forgettable- I don't really feel strongly about it either way

Exactly! That's what I wanted for Craig's era, since he was a gritty Bond. YKMN shows you can still make a Bond song, soulful and tough.

I like the deviation to trad for Skyfall, but I think NTTD could have used another rockier one.

Thanks @sworddevil1 🙂 I just love rock music and when it comes in Bondian style, I love it even more. Yeah, it would have made Craig's era unique indeed.

Yeah. SF was Ok. Yeah, maybe NTTD needed...maybe a Liam Gallagher.

is it just me or do the songs sound differently in the film than they do when you listen to the songs on youtube/mp3's/dvd's/streaming services

this might be because my headphones sound different than the speakers on my tv or the ones in the movie theatre.

or are the songs remastered differently for film?

Songs in movie are the film cut of the song. Close to Radio cut. You have Film cut, Radio cut (Radio cut Album version) and album version.CD singles from none soundtracks Radio cut moost of time.

No Time To Die on the soundtrack is album version. There is no cdsingle, if there have been one it have got album version too i think. NTTD is only released for limited time as lp single with same version. Cd single of Skyfall and Spectre include Album version, not avaible on the soundtrack. Also avaible as lp single for limited time. You My Name was not avaible on cdsingle in The Netherlands besides missing on soundtrack. Another Way To Die avaible on soundtrack and for limited time as lp single.

I get You Know My Name on the later bought James Bond Best of 2 disc CD / DVD set from 2008. If you stil needed if can better now buy new 2CD version with 26 tracks include NTTD but no longer including end credits songs of TMND and Twine missing John Arnold track. No longer with the DVD, but you miss nothing realy with only selection video's you already have can have on SE dvd's and Music docomentry from Moonraker SE (Usefull for people who whant to have / missing Korean, Chinees, Portuguese, Spanish or Thai subs earlier).

    My ranking:

    1. Skyfall
    2. No Good About Goodbye
    3. Writings On The Wall
    4. Die Another Day
    5. You Know My Name
    6. No Time To Die
    7. Another Way To Die. I like Lyrics a lot, i believe there wanted from us focus be on lyrics more with DC era and inspecialy this sold it best i think. It fit the movie very well (editing the car chase / boat chase and other missing information.)
    8. Song over the end credits of NTTD. Of course this song is my favorite of all of them, but there should have asked Billie Elish to record a new version, if there already whant it.
    9. Paul Oakenfold Die Another Day remix.

Same here.I was vary excited about Cornell being picked for Bond. He and Arnold did a great job with it. And since we are ranking:
    2 Skyfall
    3 No Time To Die
    4 Another Way To Die
    5 Die Another Die
6 The Writing s On The Wall
7 Die Nanny Die (the next one)

My personal opinion for what that's worth is as follows

    1. You Know My Name (Super Cool Aggressive)
    2. Skyfall (Yearning and Bondian)
    3. The Writing's On The Wall (Great Song, Shame about the voice)
    4. No Time To Die (Sombre moaning rendition saved by the melody)
    5. Another Way To Die (Two artists out of sync and too shouty)
    6. Die Another Day. (Marmite. song You either like Mabarfa or not)
