What is your favourite Connery movie and do you prefer the Craig movies compared to the rest? Don't feel forced to watch all films on this list. I.e. I never made it through the whole Casino Royale 54 and 67. I only watch the Eon Bonds and NSNA. (But I have watched them A FEW times of course ;)
Since this is all off-topic, I can add once again: I love NTTD (but I also hope for a more fun ride with the next installment).
Oh yeah sorry you're right it is a bit off-topic. I didn't think of that. I guess it's hard to focus on NTTD completely without digressing onto the other movies at least to some degree.
My favourite Connery movie... I think Dr No. I consider that my third favourite Bond movie. The other two are TSWLM and GoldenEye. I have a soft spot for Diamonds Are Forever though because even though it wasn't totally amazing or anything... seeing Connery back as Bond in it is so cool! I can imagine the buzz that must have created at the time!
The Craig movies... I mean, as I say I don't like Skyfall or NTTD - they're my least favourite entries in the whole franchise. CR, QOS and Spectre... I like them a lot but I find the older films a lot more fun and positive. And less gritty, which I prefer.
How about you, on those questions? ^^
Also I've finally seen every EON Bond movie! Hooray! I just finished watching LALD, which was good too!
TSWLM is my favourite Roger movie, DN is also easily in my top10 but I prefer FRWL. GE is also a favourite of mine (only beaten by CR). Whie I like/love OHMSS more than you do, I don't gave a soft spot for DAF. However, the killer duo Wint and Kidd are a highlight for me. I miss such iconic henchmen. Ash in NTTD isn't bad at all but far away from the best.
I thought OHMSS was pretty fun and the story was good also.
I hear people bashing Lazenby a bit but I thought he was fine. Probably the weakest Bond but that's mostly because the others are so good.
NTTD... yah I find it so hard to enjoy because of the elements of it that I find kind of toxic. Nomi, especially. But also Paloma's attitude and some other things. The film just feels mean-spirited to me, I guess.
The first 40 minutes was alright though and certain things I thought were good from the rest like the dynamic between the villain and Bond's family.
I gave it 3/10 on IMDb, lol. Who knows though maybe over time I'll forgive it for the things I disliked a bit more, I'm not sure. If Nomi was significantly more tolerable I'd probably have given it a 6.
For me, it's Madeleine Swann, she's not that fit for the "Ultimate Love of Bond's life" and Seydoux was miscast in the role, she just lacked something.
I mean, I really like Spectre and she was in that too so... I dunno. I guess she seemed fine to me. That being said, "fine" suggests that I too feel something was lacking. I don't think she was particularly interesting on-screen.
Surely what you're really doing here is comparing the opinions of the fans with the casual moviegoers. They're always going to be different, at least to some degree.
Yup. As with all the Craig Bond films really for box office, audience ratings, and critics' overall assessments at different levels of success.
And noted elsewhere, longtime contributors on this forum who like the latest Bond film (plus some who didn't) disengaged and departed. Similar to what I saw on other forums with the release of QOS, the negative reaction overcomes most everything going on. There's a freedom to damn, to the point it's protected thought and beyond question.
And 10 years on as with with QOS and earlier OHMSS, where will things stand.
What we got was a reverse OMHSS ,some of it was ok ,was it diversive YES I wonder how much input did Fukunaga and Waller-Bridge to the final film story wise ?
Maleks villain was a disappointment
They turn Bond into a sexless monk

I really like NTTD, but of course it’s divisive. The ending is divisive, purely because some people really enjoy it and some people really hate it.
Seems like NTTD's divisiveness is divisive.
Jacques Derrida would be amused by that concept.
I now find this divisive.
Personally I'm divided on if I find this divisive or not.
I Can't Believe It's Not Divisive.
I LOVED it ! As I have stated elsewhere, or perhaps IN this same chain of comments, I think they should have a same-effect-ending each and every film for a while ! No long-term commitments, no "he's too old to do a string of films", less bother with a "wrong appearance because of his this or that", let 'er rip for a while ! Of course, don't get too carried away with this idea and the freedom it brings. Still NO locating any of these films in Canada, down Under or New Z. Once again, if there isn't a law all official-ilke, it's still pretty much in effect somehow.
...Home TV screens...Good luck to theaters...
I blame Barbara Broccoli for her “school girl crush” on Craig ;)
:))
There was a thread on here sometime in the past year tallying everyone's rankings of the Craig era. No Time to Die was the one film of Craig's five where opinions were pretty evenly spread across those who ranked it highest, those who ranked it in the middle, and those who ranked it lowest. That is the definition of divisive. On these boards at least, it is categorically the most divisive of Craig's films.
LTK and QOS were very divisive for their time, but they clearly have a loyal following of fans that swear by them as real gems.
There definitely are fans of both LTK and QOS. I'm one of them. Even so, more people on this board ranked QOS in the lower half of the Craig era than in the upper. I don't know there has been a great reappraisal or shifting of views of QOS since 2008.
