    In the film, Shaken But Not Stirred is played for 1:50 approximately. The track in the upcoming release is nearly twice as long. I love that track.

    I recall an edit in which someone just looped the track and extended it a bit. The source was of course the isolated track from the DVD/Blu-Ray. I'm looking forward to the full version.

    Great to have another Bond release. It's a shame it's TND in a way as I think there are a lot of good high-quailty rips out there already. But will be nice to have the official version.

    I guess the question is that now David Arnold's Brosnan films are done, will we see a move to CR/QOS for the next releases? Or keep proceeding backwards to GE?

    Great to have another Bond release. It's a shame it's TND in a way as I think there are a lot of good high-quailty rips out there already. But will be nice to have the official version.

    I guess the question is that now David Arnold's Brosnan films are done, will we see a move to CR/QOS for the next releases? Or keep proceeding backwards to GE?

    I kind of wonder why it's only been the Brosnans, and I know there have in the past been all sorts of rights issues with EMI and MGM over the UA library, so who knows how that all is. Hopefully it won't stop any others from coming out. Well, when I say 'others', I mean Moonraker :)

    Actually, TSWLM is probably the other one which is really overdue a revised release- I'm not sure any of the tracks on the album are the film versions, are they?

    I imagine it's much easier if the composer of the score is on board with the project. Arnold will no doubt have had all of the cues or sessions for each soundtrack on a hard drive somewhere, including alternate takes, demos etc. as he strikes me as that type of person. He has a great relationship with EON/the record labels/La La Land, so is in a good position to push forward these projects. Also he'll be personally motivated to have all of his scores out there for fans to enjoy.

    I wouldn't be surprised if we see 'Casino Royale' released next year and 'Quantum' the year after, way before 'Goldeneye' or any of the John Barry holy grails.

    By the way - does anyone have a pre-order link for TND, or do we have to wait until Tuesday?

Considering the part with the flutes, I can only assume the Tempus Fugit track from the OST actually corresponds to the PTS helicopter fight (and in the film, the very end of the cue is replaced with another, unreleased cue). Accordingly, in my custom Spectre album, I have renamed that Tempus Fugit track to Helicopter Fight.

    3) "Spectre Breaks Guinness World Record" featurette music #1 and #2: Apart from the gunbarrel music, the Guinness World Record featurette music track includes two short bits of music, which appear to come from the PTS, when Bond is chasing Sciarra on foot. The music there is just a variation of the Rome car chase music (named Backfire in the OST). I edited the bits of music of the featurette together with each other, and with the Backfire track, to give them a proper beginning and ending. This yielded two short tracks, quite similar to each other.

    NO TIME TO DIE:

    1) Gunbarrel (film version): I used a reverb plugin, along with the rear channels of the film audio, to recreate the long tail off of the Bond theme as heard in the film, and get rid of the scary synth chord heard only in the album. This was my second attempt at this track, after the first one proved unsatisfactory a few months ago.

    2) Home (film version): This is the only cue on this list that includes SFX. It's the Home OST track, but replacing the part featuring Billie Eilish's voice with audio taken from the rear channels of the film audio. I had to apply some severe EQ to get rid of part of the ambient sounds (some sounds still remain), so this track sounds fairly dull in that section, but it's listenable. I present it in two versions, one with beginning and ending exactly as in the album version, and another in which the beginning and ending have been faded in/out. This is because my custom NTTD album features this track at the end of the album, at which point it would've sounded abrupt not to have fades bookending the track.

    3) A Man Named Bond / We Have All the Time in the World: A clean rip of the WHATTITW instrumental, taken from the film audio and combined with the WHATTITW song taken from the OHMSS OST.

    4) End Credits Suite: The end credits from the film. I applied a very subtle limiter to reduce some peaks in the audio and make the whole track sound a bit louder.

    NEXT MONTH:

    In time for Christmas I expect to release three more tracks -- not film rips but recreations using virtual instruments:
    1) Music from the A View to a Kill PTS that plays after Bond spots the iceberg sub (an old request I'm honoring).
    2) Gondola Chase from Moonraker (@DarthDimi, you're getting your wish).
    3) My own Bond theme cover based on the GoldenEye 64 pause menu theme.

    La-La Land Records is announcing their Black Friday soundtrack releases later this month. People are hoping a Bond score is among them. Not trying to get anyone's hopes up, but should they release Moonraker, I'll still do the Gondola Chase music, because it holds great sentimental value for me. Also, to make things more special and interesting, along with the full mix of the track, I'm going to release the individual audio stems of the track (one track where you can only hear the violins, another for the violas, another for the clarinets, etc.). So you will be able to study the arrangement in more detail at your will. This should make the effort worthwhile enough, even if an expanded OST is released.

  • Excellent news! After The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day, it was only a matter of time, but it's great to see Tomorrow Never Dies is finally here.

    @mattjoes, I too am very much looking forward to the unreleased tracks for Carver's party, especially that extended one. And thank you also for all the outstanding work you've done recreating music from the films!

    The record label has worked with David Arnold on previous releases of his scores (Independence Day, Godzilla, Stargate, Stepford Wives, Shaft), so that may have made it an easier process. There also was a lot more unreleased from Arnold's Brosnan scores than his Craig scores (Casino Royale was released in full digitally and I believe Quantum of Solace has relatively few missing cues).

    I guess the question is whether Eric Serra or the estates of Barry, Kamen and Hamlisch will be as keen? :)

    Got the LLL release of TND in a couple of days ago and been listening through it. Very much happy with it, except I swear that the Oxford cue is still missing. Or did I just miss it?

    Oh yes, I forgot I ordered that. The postal service in the UK is up the creek at the moment (and I haven't found USPS to be terribly amazing recently) so I guess it'll come when it comes!

    You're right. It's not on the discs. In fact, the score brings very little that wasn't on the two-disc 'bootleg' from several years ago, except that SFX are not here, which is a clear bonus.

    I'm surprised they didn't throw Moby's Bond Theme rendition on the CDs.

    Either way, I'm very pleased with this lovely-sounding version of the score. Consider this Bond music fan more than happy.

    My sentiments too. Albeit it comes with some alternate tracks and the whole tracks from this release sounds very refined.

    Since the track wasn't recorded for the film, they would have had to license it separately to include it in the album.

    Incidentally, the same happened with DAD, which didn't include Bond vs. Oakenfold. I guess they didn't bother since these tracks were not part of the films themselves.

    True. It's very different. The film version starts with a more obvious take on Surrender's melody.
