So Raiders of the Lost Ark is the best and most important one. My favorite is The Last Crusade.

Agreed. No one is arguing Raiders isn't great, just not everyone's favorite.

As a film buff, bordering on a film snob, it sometimes makes me feel a bit weird to say that TLC is my favorite of the series, despite the fact that ROTLA is one of the great action adventure films ever made. But in the end, I just love the Ford/Connery relationship and I find that the pacing of TLC is better (the second act of Raiders sags a bit for me). This is all a long way of saying that I think we can all be objective and subjective at the same time.

Raiders and Crusade are just about neck and neck for my favorite, bit if forced to pick I would also go with Crusade . As you said, the Connery/Ford relationship is incredible and I also think the film has an elegance that separates it from the pack. The locations are wonderful. “Ah Venice”

Both of you are right on the mark. Connery is so great and having so much fun in the movie.

Slightly off-topic question, is Harrison Ford the only actor to have worked alongside 3 leading Bond actors?
As far as I know he's worked with Connery, Craig and now Dalton. Interestingly enough they've al been period pieces.

I disagree. There is no punctuation at all in any of the titles, whether a period, a semi-colon, or anything else.

Gone are the days of practical effects. The CGI of Indy jumping from one car to another takes one right out of the scene. I know that Indy isn't the only film series to rely on CGI but I must say I am getting tired of all these CGI stunts and stunt people. The truck chase in Raiders was epic because you knew that real people were doing all the stunt work.
Hmmm. Haven’t you ever stopped and wondered why — about halfway through that sequence — the Nazis just don’t stop the convoy briefly to simply riddle the helpless Indy with bullets? I was wondering that… during my first viewing of the film, in the theater, 42 years ago.

Even awesome, real-life stunts can’t redeem inherently silly situations.

Well, you know, two birds, one stone. They wanted to get somewhere, in a hurry, and figured they could just squash this interfering fellow against a stone wall.

Connery – The Man Who Would Be King
    Brosnan – The Fourth Protocol
    Moore – Bullseye

Has Julian Glover worked with Bond actors? Connery and Moore, did he cross paths with Dalton, Craig or Brosnan? Seems like he might.

What about actresses? That pool is probably shallower.

The only actor? I'd say that Bernard Lee and Desmond Llewelyn and Lois Maxwell all worked with three, and Desmond even four. But I suppose you mean outside the Bond realm.

I can't recall who he specifically shared the screen with in Game of Thrones but a lot of Bond alumni were in that over the years.

I do love Last Crusade for all the reasons you state. It's just behind Raiders for me. Two absolute classics. Hoping Destiny is in the same league.

Yes, most notably Tracy herself...showing us what she may have looked like years later had Irma Bunt not shot her.

Will Maytag come up with a promotional tie-in with the new film ? Their washer and dryer machines could be controlled by dials of destiny.
Perhaps an old-school phone could be sold, using a dial of destiny.
As you can tell, I find the new title quite a step down from the earlier ones. May as well be IJ and the Thing of Whatever...IJ and the Object of Interest...IJ and the We're not interested enough to make the effort to come up with a title despite DECADES of IJ stories having come and gone. Hopefully, the rest of the writing will surpass the writing of a title.

With Short Round winning the Oscar, and seeing all the pictures of him and Ford together, I think we’ll see them together in Indy 5.

You would think! But they already dropped the ball by not even giving him a cameo in CRYSTAL SKULL at Indy’s wedding. It would be nice to see Short Round as an accomplished adventurer in his own right.

I would watch the hell out of a Short Round spinoff movie. I don't care what anyone says; Shorty is one of my favorite characters in the series.

Does it serve the story to have Short Round? If it does, please include him. But if we are trying to shoe horn in a character for the stunt casting part, please leave it alone.

Fair enough. We are getting Sallah for sure, that’s nice.

I suspect Sallah will be more of a cameo. Is it needed? No. But this is the last film with Ford as Indy, so it’s essentially a curtain call.

If we believe Ford and Kennedy, this will be the last Indiana Jones project with no re-boots, or anyone else playing the character. Course a huge box office might entice someone to go back on their word.

Disney is never gonna just sit on this franchise and not make a movie down the line with a new actor. The fetishizing of Ford as Indy is kind of dumb. I also really dislike how Kennedy threw that actor from SOLO under the bus. That movie had its issues but the actor playing Han Solo wasn’t IMO.

I guess once there’s a change in regime we’ll see.

    Han Solo is underrated imo.

I enjoyed Solo. In hindsight, what Ron Howard did, in the timeframe that he did it, was Herculean.

I also don’t think that Disney will retire the Indians Jones brand, although to my be given a long rest.

Looking forward to the film, but Dial of Destiny feels better suited for a game show.
I'm sure all things will become clear, but Wheel of Fortune keeps coming to mind.
