I find it odd that every time a bad film of another franchise gets mentioned Bond fans have to bring up Die Another Day and Pierce Brosnan???? It's bad film but I enjoy it.
Zorro Olga Strikes again...
I heard a new Zorro series was coming to Disney+, not sure if it's 100% confirmed.
This has already happened with other movies before, like Super Mario Bros: The Movie & Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse.
I fondly recall as a kid watching Gene Shalit on the Today show with fizzy hair and big glasses, Joel Siegel on Good Morning America. Those were critics that were entertaining on their own but never took themselves too seriously.
As I stated earlier I am hopeful that this film gives the character a nice send off. I don't care for any spin off that may occur from this ":universe".
This might not be the best place for this question but I do wonder how a character like Bond can be transferred to one actor to another and yet Indiana Jones seems to be Ford or no one. What is the difference? Is it because of the literary aspect? I will watch with some interest on how the new actor for the Harry Potter series fares with comparisons to Daniel Radcliffe.
But Bond moved on from an actor that had let it go. Ford never did that. Ford IS Jones....
Well said. Most of these reviews are made just so they can get views. Indiana Jones does have a place for entertainment in any era.
And most are ones who've yet to see it. They're just echoing whomever rated it negatively and implementing their own agendas on what they may think.

As for DoD, judging by a spoiler-filled review from Cannes, it seems that the leaks were about half-right, but that the film ultimately plays it safe. Then again, we know from John Williams that the ending was reshot, so who knows if it was originally worse. The movie just doesn't look that good, and I say that as someone who moderately enjoyed Crystal Skull. Then again, I've always been of the opinion that when original creators are removed from a franchise (like Cameron from Terminator or Lucas from Star Wars), it inherently makes new entries in these series seem less legitimate and more like cash-ins.
YouTube has become a horrifically toxic wasteland, with countless “woke trash”-titled videos about entertainment just being the tip of the iceberg. When Uganda recently passed their new laws that includes killing people for homosexual activity, on YouTube I saw hundreds of comments praising it, and hundreds more upvoting the hateful praises.
I agree. That being said, I feel that Indy is like Bond: there is always a real-life threat and artifact that Indy can go after, real or fake, in any time period. Lucas should have let aliens (and his ego) go, or gotten someone else other than Spielberg to direct Indy 4. But I feel that Indy's future is in books, honestly. Lucasfilm could make as many Indiana Jones books as they have Star Wars books.
I think some of our Bond authors could work well. Namely Benson, Deaver, Horowitz and Sherwood.
Thanks, @Benny It's pretty sad that there are some places on the Internet where I couldn't even have posted this without being accused of being a Disney shill. I've seen people attacked (verbally, of course) just for being passionate and excited about the movie. Which is so strange to me because, if you're a true fan, wouldn't you be passionate and excited too? Or, at the VERY least, not begrudge someone else being excited? It's so strange.
I've said it many times and I'll keep saying it: The Internet is the best and worst thing that ever happened to the movies.
You could say that about any form of media. Some people are honestly just jealous, that they didn’t go further along with life.
Maybe so! I'll still never understand it. I haven't exactly set the world on fire but I still get plenty of joy out of the excitement of a new Indy or Bond movie, and I love to see other people get excited about it too. It's part of the fun of talking with other fans. Even if I hate this movie, I wouldn't wish any other fan to hate it. That's just negative and stupid.
There are places where if you dare suggest Kathleen Kennedy is a negative force on Lucas Film you will be attacked. LOL! I love how we are so insular that we feel our way is best and can't see it from a more detached perspective. If you think Kathleen is the best film producer ever and that everything she has produced is gold, more power to you. If you think she is a terrible producer that's fine too. One side shouldn't be allowed to trump others. Free speech.
Bottom line you throw out an opinion be prepared for some to like it and some to dislike it. That's fine and should be encouraged. The people on here saying that people shouldn't be voice their opinions is ludicrous.
In my days as a youth you would write letters to the editor, now one need only create their post and publish. Today we can all publish or shout out our thoughts and opinions. Engage or don't engage, watch or don't watch. I am reminded of certain radio personalities where they wanted listeners and didn't care if the listener liked them or agreed with them. They just wanted listeners. Often someone would say I can't stand (insert DJ name) did you hear that bit where he... or "I never listen to him. Did you hear his story the other day." LOL!
You definitely make some good points @thedove I am all for back and forth, debate, differences of opinion, etc. That's part of what makes a fandom fun - we can argue all day. But I think the difference is that I hate the toxic atmosphere of people who WANT to hate things just because they're miserable. There are so-called "fans" who are just SO happy to say that the reviews of DoD are crap and "this movie is going to go down in flames!" Why would you do that if you're a fan? Similarly, it's like being a Bond fan and actively wanting to hate the next Bond movie.
Bottom line for me: Be a fan. Enjoy the ride. Be excited, even if that excitement is tempered. And then if you don't like the movie, that's cool. We'll dissect it to death afterwards with level heads and without extreme toxicity or hyperbole.
