    , Jurassic World 4 found the perfect director in Gareth Edwards, and the rumors of the film having a vibe similar to Escape from New York have been refuted by insiders, leaving fans wanting clues about the plot and other details. These needs might have been met, as a new rumor from a trusted source might have revealed the name of the upcoming reboot. According to the formidable Daniel Richtman via his Patreon, the upcoming Jurassic World sequel will be titled Jurassic City and is set to begin filming in July against its 2025 release date, barring any changes to the schedule.

    Dev Patel Up For Next “Jurassic” Film?

    British actor Dev Patel is rumored to be in talks to co-star in the next ‘Jurassic’ film at Universal Pictures.

    Daniel Richtman (via World of Reel) revealed the news, saying the project is being dubbed “Jurassic City” – a title that has been floating around for a few weeks but hasn’t been confirmed yet.

    If he signs on, Patel would co-star with Scarlett Johansson in the film which hails from filmmaker Gareth Edwards (“The Creator,” “Rogue One”). Casting is expected to ramp up imminently as filming rushes to get underway at Sky Studios Elstree in the UK this Summer.

    There recently have been speculations and rumors that World 4 would be more tied to the PT than the WT.
    Unlike its predecessors, there hasn't been too much information revealed about it.
    It's confirmed that none of the crew who worked on the previous films are returning for this one.
    Scarlett keeps refering to it as "Park", not "World".
    The leaked pictures from the set in Krabi, Thailand have a more Park feel to it:

    The original Jurassic Park movie is a masterpiece in every regard. Seeing the Brontosauruses grazing on the plain, with one of John Williams' most beautiful cues accompanying, still sends shivers down my spine after over thirty years and umpteen viewings. I also like TLW and the third instalment, whatever its name. Can't say anything really bad about the first Jurassic World either, but haven't felt the urge to rewatch it and don't remember what it was about, except dinosaurs. So as with Star Wars and others, I don't need any more sequels and rather watch the original(s).

    TLW just feels like the better dinosaur movie to me. If we're strictly speaking about the creatures and action.

    JP is a light-hearted theme park that inspires awe and wonder, but I prefer TLW's darker mood. Isla Sorna has no fences or gates, the kills are more brutal and we get to see more different kinds of dinosaurs. 2 T-Rexes instead of 1, and the tiger-striped raptors really behave like savage pack animals. Stegosaurus. Compys, Pachys, Parasaurolophus, etc.
    Ian Malcolm as the main character, and Roland is a much more interesting character than Muldoon from the first movie. Sarah is the only weak link of the movie. I don't care about her or the gymnast girl, but all the dinosaur action makes up for it.

    Must admit I am really confused that they're making this so soon after demonstrating they had no more ideas for the series in the last film.
    Maybe there's a really killer concept this time, I don't know. But it's so odd to me they're doing it.

    Yes, TLW is a better sequel than it’s given credit for. I agree about Sarah, her ego got the better of her throughout the movie.

    Everyone probably knows that Scarlett Johansson is a big turnoff for me. The dinosaurs will probably have more emotion than her! However, I still will probably see it, for better or worse. I’m happy that Spielberg has some creative control over the series still. Jurassic World is an interesting idea overall. I kind wish it was given a novelization. I still recommend reading the original Jurassic Park book by Michael Crichton over watching any of the sequels. It’s almost a completely different story. Mixed feelings about David Koepp coming back. He can write with the right crew. Hopefully Colin Trevorrow will just be producing them for the foreseeable future.

    True I never thought about that. It was Jurassic World 4 for awhile.

    I feel like it all got so messy you have to ignore them, don't you?
    Not least they established a world where dinos are loose everywhere in the last one, and instead of making it about that, did a Bond film with giant crickets in it for some reason.

    But carrying the plot on from that, a film which didn't really set the world alight and kind of messes up the whole JP concept, would feel like an odd move to me. But maybe, as I say, they have a great idea for it.

    I don't know but I sure hope it's not a direct sequel. I've frankly had enough of the JW films. The best thing I can say about them is that JW1 sort of reminded me of what fun we had with JP1 back in '93. What came after JW1, however, let me down, and then even more. Even despite the big reunion effort the latest one pulled, I declared myself positively done with this mess when I'd seen it;

    Honestly, my heart breaks when people look down on The Lost World. Granted, it's a serious step down from JP, but that movie still kept me very excited when I saw it in theatres. JP3, despite its groaner of an ending, and despite being way too short, is not a bad action flick (and it has a killer score by Don Davis.) Reservations I may have had about these two sequels have completely vaporized since the JW era began. When that first JW hit theatres, I couldn't figure out what the fuss was all about. But when the sequels to that film came... oh boy. I'll take any of the first three JP movies over any of the JW films any day.

    One of the things I greatly admire about The Lost World is that it doesn't attempt to just redo the first film again. It fits perfectly in as a logical continuation from the same filmmakers yet they made it feel completely different.

    Indeed, @CraigMooreOHMSS. Take the John Williams score. It reuses themes but introduces new ones too. People have complained about the bongos. I don't mind the bongos. They give TLW a different flavour than JP.

    JW, like The Force Awakens, essentially took the first film and remoulded it for modern audiences. That's fine. But in both cases, the sequel let me down. As if redoing the original was the only brilliant idea they had. And then things fell flat. I regret that, by the way, because in this era of awesome CGI work, there's almost nothing that cannot be done. Wild ideas should be thrown around like confetti. (For the record, I love Ep. IX, but that's an entirely different discussion.)

    I'm curious to know. Has anybody seen the spin-off W shows? I saw Camp Cretacious a while ago, and i still haven't seen Chaos Theory.

    In the middle of my persuasive blathering about the satirical brilliance of the JW movies, I previously wondered about the original JP, and whether some of the many goofs (misspelling dinosaur names onscreen, Nedry's call being an obvious video) could have been intentional.

    Thinking about the movie more, I wonder if there's something bigger at play. The Jurassic Park resort appears to have one attraction and no lodging of any kind. Like there's no hotel seen or referred to as far as I know.

    Of course, this isn't a problem on a meta level, because the dinosaurs all get out so they never have need of a second major attraction or any place to sleep. But in the world of the movie, it's pretty weird. And I wonder if it's meant to go with the general vibe (that I have) that these characters all know they're in a monster movie and everybody is doomed. I always found it interesting that there's no real effort to turn things around, like round up those few loose dinos and fix the fences (the book has this).

    I mean, Hammond gives his little speech about showmanship and flea circuses, and they do refer to King Kong being behind the gate...maybe the first one is more tongue-in-cheek than is generally acknowledged? (The JW movies, after all, are broadly tongue-in-cheek, and most viewers appear not to have noticed)

    Oh, I only meant to add to your point. I think the six movies are all quite different. I think it's a strength of the series. A lot of folks seem to want more repetition and seriousness, and I've seen where six movies with that approach gets you!

    That’s true about the series and its variety of styles. Overall, JP and JW are horror thrillers for everyone. They warn us about the dangers of science. Also, I’m still thinking we might still get a classic character returning. Outside of the original three.

    Dr. Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore). She is one character who arguably wasn’t explored as much as she could have been.
