I've wanted to give it a go but didn't feel like bothering with the Apple Arcade stuff. I didn't want to sink money into it, hate it, and regret the purchase, as I've never outright bought a mobile game before. I tend to stick with the free ones, like my obsession over the last three years, Royal Match.
If it is going to be a Bond origin story, it would make sense it came out a month or two before Bond 26.
I wish I could, but I have an Android phone... I suppose they're not planning a release on there?
Not only that, but we had no video games in the eighth generation of consoles.
Yeah that really is a shame, such an unnecessarily long gap there. I'm glad that'll be corrected in the near future. I'm hoping we get Project 007 on this generation of consoles at least. We're about halfway through the life cycle already, so that'd mean we should see this one by 2028 at the latest.
Not that they'll say anything different publicly, but I'm glad they seem to be having a good development. Not a gamer myself, but I've played the big Bond games and have very fond memories of them. I really don't know if I'll play this one, but I know people who will and I hope it'll be something that'll get some new fans onboard for the future (or at the very least won't be another 007: Legends... a game I have never played for context!).
Truer words have never been spoken.
The phrase that keeps all us Bond fans going.
I think maybe that's what EON should do going forward, now that they're also partnered with Amazon. While EON already do make an event out of the release of a new James Bond film, maybe they could do even more? Especially this time round, for the start of the new era and because of the time they're taking to develop it, it'll feel really special if they're able to make that release year as big, or even more so, than those anniversary years.
My money is on the video game. I would say the earliest for a Bond movie we are looking at 2026 or maybe 2027. No director which means no script, which means no actor. Plus all the location scouting, the other casting. More if they need to recast M, Penny and Q.
No I would say this video game hits shelves before Bond hits the big screen.
What if IOI designs their Bond basing it on Fleming's description?
I suspect it'll be a very 'traditional' looking Bond, maybe with a bit of Connery/Craig ruggedness.
Might just be me, but I don't think that image looks much like Fleming's Bond! I'm guessing it's AI generated?
Yeah. Here's where it comes from: https://www.reddit.com/r/midjourney/comments/1c7tsde/james_bond_as_originally_described_by_ian_fleming/
It's one of the reasons I don't like AI illustrations of Bond. I can't imagine that face being the same character as the one in the books at all. Beyond specific details it's very difficult for an AI to put together some of those more intangible details into a whole face. A 'cruel' mouth, whatever that looks like, being on a face that's strikingly dark/good looking is a pretty vague thing to try and depict. Beyond the idea of a young Hoagy Carmichael - and even then I'd say this image looks more like an older Carmichael, albeit to the extent he doesn't look all that much like Carmichael at all and it's debatable how much Bond is meant to look like that in the books anyway - there's not really much sense of what Fleming's Bond looks like beyond some very broad details. But I think that human touch is always needed.
This actually looks like Jason Isaacs. The Bond that never was.
What would be cool (though very unlikely) is if there was a character creator, and you could make your own vision of Bond.
That’s brilliant. Probably unlikely, like you said, but it could scratch an itch for Bond fans who want to emulate a particular actor, or players who want to create a Black Bond or Asian Bond. That would actually be quite innovative without offending the film purists (no offense intended).
