DC at the OMEGA House Paris 2024.

He makes for a handsome Santa.

He does. Although, Albert Finney as Kincade did it better.

I get the feeling from that it's yet another film where he looks absolutely great. He's got to be one of the best-dressed actors in film ever, pretty much.

It appears so! I had no idea that this was such a quick shoot...and we haven't had many behind-the-scenes images.

If you change the 'x' in the link to 'twitter' then it will preview on the forum rather than needing people to click through without knowing what it is.

He's going to kill it in this one, I can already feel it.

Meanwhile, Deadline reports the film itself is polarizing and hasn't been able to acquire a U.S. distributor, yet:

I sincerely hope the lack of US distribution isn't the reason Guadagnino cut over an hour from the film!

It's not like this film is going to be a box office darling, so I really, really hope he winds up releasing his fuller cut of it some day. Sounds like Friedkin's Cruising, where a majority of what's lost are the more explicitly sexual elements, even if they're only meant to flesh out the background. Shame!

I'm not sure I would read that much into this. The reception at Venice (which should be positive) will likely dictate what type of distribution deal the film gets.

It doesn't appear so, if I'm understanding you correctly. According to Babera, other (contextual) material was cut: "I know exactly what Luca cut out: all of [Daniel] Craig’s wanderings in the gay clubs of Mexico City, with this incredible fauna of gay life, in search of adventure.”

@TripAces, that's how I took those comments - nothing influential, merely background dressing, like all the club sequences in Cruising. Then again, I've seen nothing of Queer, so perhaps some side plots ARE lost in what was cut.

@mattjoes, isn't this the Daniel Craig thread?

I'm sure it'll all still be very coherent, but I will be eagerly wondering "what if?" with all that lost footage regardless.

One of my (sometimes unpopular) opinions is that I generally don’t like Luca Guadagnino’s films. I really didn’t enjoy his version of Suspiria (and I’m an Argento/Giallo horror fan) and I felt the same about Challengers. Call Me By Your Name’s the most effective I’ve seen him as a storyteller. Not sure why I feel this way though.

But yeah, it was never going to be a smash hit. And Cruising’s its own bizarre (but kind of wonderful in its own way) film.

@007HallY, nothing wrong with that. There are some directors I've tried countless works of and still can't get into, like Jim Jarmusch.

I only really loved CMBYN and Challengers from Guadagnino personally. I didn't care for his spin on Suspiria, but I probably need a rewatch of it to see if I feel any differently.

Suspiria’s a weird one. A friend of mine always tells me it’s as if it’s a horror film that’s been made by people who don’t actually like horror films… I kinda get that, but I’m not entirely sure why…

Yeah, Jarmush isn’t a favourite of mine either. But I find Paterson quite a nice film.

I'm surprised Daniel isn't getting the call from the big name directors.

I suppose we don’t know what offers he’d get until he takes them. That and he’s already worked with Spielberg, Fincher, Mendes, Johnson, Soderbergh, who are all big name. Short of a Nolan or Scorsese you can’t get much bigger than that.

He may be. But he's been especially "choosy" about the projects he does. He seems more interested in doing small/art-house films in which the shooting schedule is not all that extensive. Both Queer and Wake Up Dead Man were really quick.

He will enjoy opportunities to play a diverse range of characters, but trust me he will one day be again drawn to an alpha, heroic character; something that he will have to physically train for and be in top shape.

Yeah, it was just a joke, a bit of wordplay. Since the other thread is about Bond after Craig, and much of this one is about Craig after his Bond stint. There would be a nice symmetry to those thread names!
