    MI6's Got Talent

M – Ah, come in 007, I’ve got a new mission for you
Bond – What is it sir?
M – We’re sending you under cover at the Miss World pageant
Bond – Phawwww! I mean really sir? I thought beauty pageants had become something of a male chauvinist anachronism in the modern world?
M – (Under his breath) rather like yourself
    Bond – What was that?
    M – Oh, nothing, nothing
Bond – I thought you said something?
M – They’ve revamped the format, along the lines of the popular “… Got Talent” series, and brought in Simon Cowell as a judge
Bond – And where do I fit in sir?
M – You’re also going to be a judge, which will allow you to move about freely and ask as many questions as you like
Bond – And what is the purpose of the mission sir?
M – Someone is planning to assassinate Simon Cowell
Bond – But why would the Russians or the Chinese want to assassinate an obnoxious talent show judge?
M – It’s not the Russians or the Chinese 007!
Bond – Then who is going to assassinate Simon Cowell?
    M – You are

No, it isn't, that was an add against violence against women and had nothing to do with Bond whatsoever. This guy is randomly using footage of Craig to make his own unsubstantiated claims. The 'sl*sh my wrists' comment taken completely out of context as well. That's just beeing a sad little ****er trying to make Craig look bad.

Simon de Thuillières is a french cartoonist who draws various pop culture icons as they would have appeared in the Middle Ages, complet with caption in Ye Auld Frenche. And here's his version of TLD :

This is something i've been thinking about for quite some time now:
If Bond is an Englishman, who was born from a Scottish man and a French woman, raised by them both on Germany, wouldn't that mean that his accent should be 25% British 25% Scottish 25% French and 25% German? If so, why haven't we gotten a Bond with a novel-accurate accent? Do they think it would confuse the audiences or smth?

Let's not forget that he spent a year in Eton, and the rest of his school years in Scotland. Accents come and go very easily, you know.

I suppose that this is tongue-in-cheek, but your accent is formed by the surroundings that you grow up in. If Bond grew up in an "English" environment, he is likely not to have a "foreign" or "regional" (Scottish) accent. Quite regardless of the fact that even Scots and French persons, as well as certain Germans, are able to speak English without an accent, or at least without a particular regional accent. I've met few German people recently who have a Hollywood-cliché German accent in their English, and the same goes for the French. Standard English is totally OK for Bond.

Years ago I went to Farnborough airshow, and stayed at a campsite for the night, together with other like-minded students. The owner of the pub to which the camping ground belonged joined us at the campfire and claimed to know which village I came from, in the north of England. Amazing, as I'm Dutch and had never been to the north of England.

But you're right, and above that it's also a choice. Or Roger Moore's dad was indeed the most posh police officer in London ;-)
