I’m perfectly content with revisiting my old favorites while waiting for future LLL soundtracks and 4K releases.
It’s been (mostly) fun while it lasted.
It's a point about how long B26 will be in cinemas for before it goes to streaming.
Frankly this ain't great news for cinema owners.
Maybe that previous article was intended to make a point to Amazon. It certainly proved a point to everyone else.
Those who said that Craig and his movies were total s**t are going to have to eat their words.
We might see a total shift in how directors are chosen, how scripts are developed, and even how the films are produced. Could Amazon move Bond away from Pinewood? Could we get a period piece? Maybe they move away from October/November releases? Will they control the series or hand the reins to a writer-director like James Gunn (Superman) or Matt Reeves (Batman), letting them build their own Bond universe with spin-offs? Even something as traditional as picking the title song artist might not follow the usual process. It’s the Wild West now.
Personally, I really hope they bring in a Christopher Nolan-type director and just let them craft their vision. That feels like the best way forward.
That said, it does make sense that Broccoli would bow out after No Time to Die. She loved the Craig era, and with that film literally killing off Bond, maybe she feels she’s done everything she set out to do with the character. Now, the future of 007 is in Amazon’s hands.
Gosh I hope so. I'd like to think that, with the joint venture holding the rights, there's some kind of joint approval required on what those rights are used for.
James Bond is dead, long live James Bond!
The shock isn't perhaps that it's over, it's that somehow it lasted over 60 years.
Not sure how relevant, but they did a good job with the Jack Reacher series..😏
Don't forget the first rule of making Bond films Amazon... GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT
Personally I found it tedious, but I know others enjoyed it so there is hope there. Everything else they've made with spies (Jack Ryan, Citadel etc.) has been pap though.
While I do think there’s plenty of space in which the franchise could expand, I hope that Amazon understands that the Bond films have worked for seven decades because they’re films and not mere product. Again, I look to Batman, as opposed to Star Wars or Star Trek or Marvel, as an example of how Bond can maintain the integrity of the films while expanding the brand.
Maybe. Even then it makes things like period piece Bond movies (which I don't think is a particularly good idea) or films that just don't quite work more likely.
I'm hoping a producer or lead can helm these films with a consistent creative vision and dedication to them, even if the franchise expands (even DC has James Gunn, and The Batman franchise Matt Reeves etc). But I just don't see anyone aside from EON who will do it at the current time. We'll see. The impression I get is that this is more likely to pan out as a Star Wars type thing, which is a bit depressing.
Don’t look up Barbara Brocoli’s nationality.
& Michael and Barbara
Where are Universal & Warner in this ?. Because earlier there was the news that Amazon whant to start there own release company. That worried me already, because get feeling that whant to eleminate Universal/Warner. If that was possible because those 2 studio's already have made deal for Bond 26, Bond 27 and Bond 28.
Before i was not realy worried about no cinema release, but more after that. That there don't release Bluray (4K) release of any more. Jack Ryan series is released, but Jack Reacher isn't.
Will Amazon be as careful with casting as Barbara? Or could we possibly see an A lister like Keanu, Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise take on the role? Maybe a flavor of the month young actor?
I'd say anything is possible now.
:D
She's American-British.
