He looks good for the part!
No suprise perhaps, but I find the opposite to be true. Hoult does nothing for me, he's never convincing to me. His appearance does nothing for me either, a strange face, like a toddler who never grew up.
Much more film experience too which I think would be appealing for them.
That photo above is about ten years old so he's obviously matured since then, and he looks good in it anyway.
Here's a more up-to-date one from last year; if you told me this guy was Bond I wouldn't be upset.
He still looks like he wets the bed. To each his own though.
Nope.
Yes dear.
I would not be against Hoult
My friend, considering everything is up in the air now, we will be lucky to have someone close enough to what Bond has been for the last 60 years.
My wild guess it's probably be a Brosnan-like choice, or at least that's what Amazon will try to do. But we are no longer in the 90s and I don't think there's a candidate that can be plebiscited like Brosnan was at the time.
But my main worry now is the script.
I suppose the only actor who fits a Brosnan-like choice is Henry Cavill (mostly because he's aligned with the role from his past). But to be honest I think he might come with too many risks. Never say never though.
I think that people think Cavill is still the same Cavill from Uncle, and that was 10 years ago. He’s older, and not in a flattering way, he’s too bulky, hair is getting thinner, face is puffier. And he still can’t act for the life of him. If a refrigerator could walk, that’d be him. Plenty of room for bullets, an henchman would say. Hard to miss.
I wouldn’t be upset if he was cast. But I think he’s past his physical prime.
Turner has aged well, Hoult is ageing well. Cavill has not, IMO.
But, again, close enough to a Bond archetype, so I wouldn’t be upset.
Cavill would have been my bet ten years ago or so. Before he proved to be, well, bland. There's something odd about his face too: too plastic looking. But I think he now stands a much better chance to be cast, ironically.
On a side note, what's up with Jeff Bezos' tweet? Am I the only one to find this borderline amateurish. You don't cast a role, iconic or not, like you choose someone for X Factor. I know it was just in jest, but that's not professional all the same.
I do kind of wonder what fan engagement looks like from here on in. It'll be a new team, so will it be more or less? Or will we get a sort of James Gunn-style online producer, posting updates to their socials? Personally I thought Eon got it about right, but I guess everything's different from here on.
Good points. Blast, now I'll have to join social media :(
And to be the guy who came after Daniel Craig, and the first Bond after EON? He'll have to be brave, or mad, or a bit of both.
It's like pulling the shortest straw. We need an innovator
Yeah I find him lacking any masculine vibe on screen. However... if he is a good or great, menacing Lex Luthor in the forthcoming Superman reboot I'll gladly reassess his potential. Playing the villain in one of the biggest films of 2025 is going to skyrocket his profile so that may convince Amazon to consider him. He's been around for a while so it's not as if he's an unknown, of course. 😉
I watched him in Juror 2, Clint Eastwood's final directed film. He was pretty good in the film but I got zero "he should be considered for Bond!" vibe. But you never know, I guess.
Hoult is way too quiet and mild-mannered of an actor to play Bond imo.
Agree, the man aged like a high end wine.
@bondywondy @Daltonforyou
Concurred on all counts
Well the money is pretty good! That's a good reason to want the role don'tcha ya think?
;))
