I also bought her first album "First Take" much later, the latter containing her other major hit, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face". Which was written in 1957 by British socialist songwriter Ewan MacColl for his former lover (and yet later wife), Peggy Seeger (Pete's half-sister). Roberta's version is simply super-beautiful, and her later songs really just complemented this impression.
It should also be mentioned, while Roberta really embodied "Killing Me Softly", that it was alleged written by Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox for a singer named Lori Lieberman, after she told them about her feelings during a performance by Don McLean. This was refuted later by Fox, but Gimbel once confirmed it and McLean actually stated that he was proud to have been the inducement for the song, one of the greatest ever in Roberta's version.
A sad day for cinema indeed, may they rest in peace.
Hackman is a true legend, he will live on forever through his many, many, great performances in film.
Always a tragedy when someone so young passes away. RIP.
Oh no!
Easily one of the greatest actors of all time for my money. He brought so much to even the smallest role. You believed Gene Hackman was the character he was playing, and he made it look effortless. A sad day for film.
RIP Gene Hackman, a true legend of cinema.
The last movie he playing in was in 2004.

Exactly this. Even with great actors, sometimes you can see the work a little bit, but with Gene, he was just the character, every time. Even in the occasional dud film (The Domino Principle being my favorite example), he always turned in a good performance. My favorite actor of all time.
R.I.P. Gene Hack.an
Pure coincidence, I have preordered the new remastered bluray of 'Niight Moves'
'The French Connection' and it's sequel, I think I've watched them more thanany other thriller! So many great performances in countless movies. A sad day indeed!
The French Connection
Narrow Margin
Night Moves
Bat*21
Crimson Tide

And so, so many others, RIP
Also, it's not been reported widely, but RIP to Peter Jason. I was only recently rewatching the 90's Mike Hammer series.
I've been watching those Mike Hammer episodes in honor of Peter Jason. RIP.
R. I. P. One of the greatest.
Little Bill meets William Munny
Masterpiece.
Looking through my movies I have The Quick and the Dead on Bluray which is a lot of fun, brilliant cast.
Oh, you are in for a treat! 'Bonnie an Clyde' is a stone cold classic, and Hackman is superb in it
( mind you , he is superb in everything!!)
I hope to watch 'The French Connection ' for the umpteenth time!
It's not as good as the 80's Hammer stuff, but Keach is Hammer, so i'm a happy camper.
Bonnie and Clyde is a masterpiece. One of my favorite 60’s films.
