You sure do assume a lot about me.

For those who need me to spell it out, the point is, that grooming, hair style, clothes and so forth can make a whole lot of difference when people are championing their next Bond.

Obviously Bond is going to be handsome, even if unconventionally so. But lacking charm, wit, and a sense of danger, it's just another boring pretty face.

Sure, they are actors, none of them are going to be really ugly but the new Bond has to offer something different to Craig.

I'm probably not going to like it, but they have to cater to a younger audience, if the franchise is to survive. Taron Egerton could be a smart choice. He's got the age, the looks, the accent, and the acting skills to nail it.

He's described online as 5'9" and that may be generous...

I would say the same for Craig…

Egerton still looks too boyish. Lets get somebody who actually looks like an adult.

Cuaron revolutionised Potter, I think with the help of Heyman and Pascal he can revolutionise Bond.

So much better than Nolan or Villeneuve in my book.
And Lubezki doing the cinematography? That would be exciting.

I do not, IMHO, think Heyman will be casting Cavill. More likely he and Amy will cast according to the books.

I honestly think Cavill is the most manufactured star in Hollywood at the moment.

Elvis Presley would make a good Bond. Ask Deke Rivers.

Do Amazon and Bond 26 want/need an actor or a movie star?

They have the license to choose, hopefully they have good taste. I wonder if Barbara will be in on the discussions.

Lazenby was the only rock and roll Bond.

Edgerton and Cavill had their Bond roles, in Kingsman and UNCLE. The ship has sailed, but it showed that some audiences do connect with them. I think both also prove we would have gotten something not bondian at all based on those projects. I've seen Edgerton as a spy, I've seen Cavill as a spy, and neither were anywhere close to Bond's charm. So let's move on to someone new.

Craig listed as 5'10"...if you take both descriptions as generous, please consider their appearance in films. Craig never looked as short as has Egerton in his roles.

There are moments where he looks very small; the most obvious is in the “ Body Worlds” sequence in CR.

He's never looked small, he's standard height. Not short, not hugely tall.
I've even seen him in person a couple of times, he's perfectly normal.

At best he is probably 5’9”, and is probably at the lower limit of height for a Bond actor.

    Even in combat boots…

Yep, looks perfectly normal, maybe that photo is supposed to be proof of something devastating but I'm not seeing it. 5'9, 5'10 - normal average height for a man (actually slightly above the real average), perfectly fine. I cannot get hung up on a man's height.

I'm not saying that he's tiny, but i would not want them to cast an actor who's even smaller.

Some actors don't seem to show their height onscreen (unless you're really looking). Marlon Brando for me is an example. I always thought the guy was six foot watching his films (especially when he was young). Turns out he was 5'7.

Craig's kinda the same I suppose, although I don't think he's short. I've read people on these forums who've seen him in real life and then on stage and remarked how tall he came across when watching the latter/compared to the former. Also...

Apparently Cary Fukunaga is 6'1 if the internet is to be believed - so he's a relatively tall man and kinda looks it if that makes sense. With that information/with Craig looking down and with a slightly bent knee he actually comes off as potentially being quite tall here (taller than he is anyway), at least at a glance.

I guess it's that he's stocky and broad, perhaps makes him look shorter than he is. He's not a lanky guy. But yeah, I've seen him, he's an average looking bloke (height wise that is- he is strikingly handsome of course). I've even seen him with Roger Moore, the only time I've seen more than one Bond in one place! Roger was taller of course, he was a freak of ridiculously handsome genetics! :D

Plenty of simple tricks to make an actor look taller than he is. This should not exclude a talented guy from being considered.

So would anyone here cast an actor, no matter how incredibly talented, who was 5’4? On the other end of the spectrum , how about one that is 6'8"?

Not at all. Some scoff at the notion that there are height limits, upper and lower, for a Bond actor. I just don't think that's realistic, and I'm just curious as what most see those limits to be.

mtm, would you cast either a 5'4" or 6'8" actor?

I would say 5'4". I guess it is easier to make a short man look taller than the other way around. But evidently, there are limits. I just don't think we should be talking about actual numbers. As long as an actor's height is acceptable, say Tom Cruise give or take an inch, I think the camera has little trouble in making the man look taller than he is.

I'm 5"8" and when I stand next to Daniel he is good 4" taller than I am.

People need to believe it's Bond from the very first reveal. Camera angles and movie magic can't fake this one.

Didn't Craig prove that you can be Bond despite not looking the part on first impression? So no... it really doesn't matter.

Given the way the world is right now (and in my country in particular), I think there is a story opportunity in the next film about how British intelligence is needed more than ever.

Give me a break.... This constant not so subtle shots at Trump on a James Bond forum are so tiresome. Nobody did this about Biden six months ago because it's obnoxious no matter what.
