Oh yeah, those blu-ray releases really were horrendous. Night and day difference in quality between those two posters.

The LALD poster always confused me, though. It looks like someone is firing a colossal cannon of sorts, yet I can't remember seeing one of those. ;-)

There's a story behind that. Apparently when they were filming, a local naval vessel was docked, and had this massive gun on board. An over eager photographer thought it be cool for Rog to pose behind it. When they came to choosing publicity shots for the film, it got thrown into the mix, and the artist doing the poster used it, even though it had nothing to do with the movie!

Cool! Thanks, @Mathis1. I wish we could have actually seen Roger firing off this enormous gun in the film somehow.

Truly one of the unsung heroes of the Bond films, a man whose name hasn't passed our keyboards often enough.

RIP, Robin. Your legacy will live on in the heart of every Bond fan.

Sad news to learn of Vic Flick’s passing.
Coincidentally I’ve been listening to the best of Bond on Spotify, on my travels today including of course the James Bond theme, that Vic’s part in is legendary to Bind fans.
    RIP

As a guitarist i rarely point out how Bic Flick influenced me and my playing which is a shame because he definitely did

The great Emilio Echevarria, who played Raoul in DAD, has sadly passed away:

That's sad news. Raoul was one of the best characters in DAD. He felt like the kind of character Fleming himself would have dreamt up.

I just read this. Emilio Echevarría is a highlight of DAD, and as a matter of fact one of my very favourite allies in the series. RIP Emilio :(

Just saw the sad news of Bruce Glover (DAF's Mr. Wint) having passed away on March 12th of this year. Always one of my favorite henchmen throughout the series, and he and I actually got to converse over Facebook over many years (including the most random of poke wars). He even always managed to wish me a Happy Birthday, and when communications were fairly silent over the last year or so, I had a bad feeling this might be coming given his age.

Sharing the TMZ link, FB is being uncooperative, but you can check his official page for more.

Oh was not aware of Bruce Glover's passing at age 92. A good life lived I believe.

In recent years he did a film short in 2021. And a James Bond Radio podcast 2015.

    I hope this is appropriate.

In his Van Gogh’s Ear interview, Glover noted that he had been close to death “many times, and even the death process is kind of a learning process.”
“I remember I had a motorcycle accident … I ran into a cow that had ran out on the side of the road. A big steer with horns coming right at my face. And I knew I was going to die, but I noticed that his mouth was slopping his tongue out. And I laughed. So even at that moment when I knew I was probably going to die, I found it funny.

“I had another moment where I was going to be struck in the face by a rattlesnake while I was climbing a cliff in Utah. And as it was striking at me, I still noticed how beautiful it was.

“So live it til the end and laugh when you can.”

So sad to hear of Bruce Glover's passing.

I was just thinking of him earlier this week, when I was listing the various connections between the James Bond films and 1968's THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR. Glover has a small (uncredited) role as a bank manager in that film according to IMDb.

    RIP Mr. Glover

Very sad to hear of the death of Bruce Glover too. I had been his friend on Facebook for about 10 years. He used to "poke" me too out of the blue and I'd return the favour. He also wished me happy birthday twice which was nice. Wint and Kidd were the real highlight of DAF and such a good and memorable set of henchmen. Rest easy, Bruce, old pal. You were much loved.
