I know at this point it doesn't really matter what the place holder title is because it will drop aside the nano second we get a title. This said, I do really wonder how our community will react if Heyman/Pascal/Amazon reinvent Bond and create something that is as different as the Connery Bonds were from Craig's Bonds. Also as a fan during the '60s I could have cared less who was producing the films and was only interested in whether it was a good Bond film. I find it interesting that so many people are invested in Barbara and Michael these days. What happens if Amazon comes up with an even better version of Bond, will we get the war between fans like the Snyder and Gunn superman situation? Well, there was the craignotbond era I guess.
The Snyder thing isn't so much because of the movies, but the circumstances of the movies — he was fired after his daughter committed suicide, then Warner half-finished the movie with another director who had a hostile work environment, then after it (predictably) bombed they spent years lying about what happened.
Notice how, say, when "Rogue One" fired Gareth Edwards during production it didn't turn into a thing? Because everyone involved was honest. If Warner didn't spend years saying "There is no different version of Justice League, this is the only one" even after cast and crew were adamant there were two different movies, it wouldn't have blown up into the thing it became. It isn't a shock that after "Zack Snyder's Justice League" came out, the salience of the issue went away.
To your question (which is a good one!), because there was such a definitive ending I think it is unlikely that a schism emerges. We can even see a parallel with "Batman".
WOW! Not a lot of original content there. What the hell?!?!?!?!?!?
Right? Pretty sad to see.
Not really surprised myself, to be honest; most of these are the big ‘tentpoles’ that would get marked on the calendar well in advance of the original stuff.
If you’re curious, here’s some original projects due next year:
Crank up the rumor machine.
I’m confused about how you’re confused. It’s a conflict of interest in two ways:
1. Musk gets access to the financial records of his competitors, allies and enemies alike. That’s tax documents, military records, Social Security statements, etc., etc. Musk not only has access to sensitive records, he can alter them or erase them. Simple access to the deep reservoir of collected information the Federal government creates, maintains, audits and safeguards across the world is open for potential blackmail and market fixing by Elon Musk.
2. Cutting Federal departments and withholding Congressionally approved payments without clearance or authority from the legislature. Then, reduce Federal spending for sectors and jobs that even Republicans agree should be in place. This creates an administrative vacuum. The Federal Government will then contract-out any work deemed, as essential for basic societal maintenance, or not. Either way, Musk gains far more than he could ever lose in divesting himself from Tesla or plummeting stocks. But Musk is against a clock. How bad do Tesla stockholders need burned before they drop the pot? Will the courts lay down enough law to blockade this year’s agenda? The midterm elections are next year. Republicans don’t want to run their re-election campaigns in the middle of job and service cuts that will predominantly hurt their electorate. Miss a SS payment next month, maybe Trump could recover the fumble; maybe Republicans can spin fast enough and the propaganda is convincing enough. Miss a SS payment next year, any month, and Republicans may not return to legislative power for another (+/-) forty year block, like at the end of WWII up to Reagan’s administration.
GE/CR
Easily CR. And I think this is what they will do. With MR this time.
Someone on these boards once suggested, like CR, a more or less faithful adaptation of MR, but using the locations from the film MR. (Presumably not space, although if it's Cuaron directing, who knows?) So not a remake, but not-not a remake.
Fascinating.
MR novel with CR's tone done in the style of TLD. Must have a stylish casino scene.
Personally I'd love for them to adapt one of the comics like Hammerhead or Solstice.
I'd go DN, at least in terms of broad story. We see the set up, and then Bond being sent on a seemingly routine mission, whereupon he discovers there's more going on. It eventually culminates in a show down with a larger than life villain who reveals they have a high stakes threat planned. A bit more mystery driven, with a cat and mouse element to it.
Some of the most memorable Bond films are those that have one location, or a location that dominates. Think DN or even OHMSS.
Thunderball.
Maybe a new adaptation of LALD without the problematic parts. The plot can still be used.
The barracuda swim would be cool.
Considering Heyman's age, he might have grown up with Moore.
Yeah. You could say that. I think while I don't expect a Moore-style Bond for Bond 7, Pascal & Heyman might want the return of the megalomaniac villain and the big sets and possibly gadgets as well... because Bond 26 might be a film that's aimed to please, because of the Amazon purchase....to convince us to stay calm. I think Amazon's Bond 26 is in the same situation GoldenEye was years back....compulsory success!
